How do we review a cajon?
I know, let's bang a snare along.
Not enough, get a shaker in as well.
Best idea ever, dude!
A tip : watch series on Flixzone. Been using them for watching loads of movies lately.
@Roman Terrell yea, have been watching on flixzone} for since december myself =)
The percussionist in our band picked up one a couple of weeks ago. We've had a lot of fun figuring out just what this box will do. One thing we can already see for upgrades or new models from Roland - on-board looper, pedal control for switching voices, and MIDI options to load in other voices for the electronics. But that's most likely for next year's model. Of course, the one thing our percussionist is already complaining about - instead of just carrying a lightweight cajon, he now has to lug around an amp, just like the rest of us!
Guys, great job & great video! I've been drooling over this since yesterday morning & have been plotting my acquisition! Also, I work at a shop here in the US & hope to make videos like this! Thanks for the thorough info & inspiration!
Cheers,

+TheChristKnight7 Thanks James. It's a cool thing. All the best with your vids. - Jol.
I'm a traditional cajon player, but I like this modern twist. It's very strange listening to these sounds come out of this instrument, but it's a great innovation.
Great review!! and I had a lot of fun when you pronounced the a of cajon so closed that sounded like an o "cojon" (cojon means testicle in spanish) this makes your review even better ;)
Ezekiel T better than the usual kay-hone though right? they're trying atleast
Well explained.....more tutorials please
best demo so far! deciding between this and Korg's Wavedrum.
Hello, I play Cajon since a few years and love it and then I tested the Wavedrum in my fav. store and I can highly recomend you to try or buy it ,if you are into percussion instruments.
I haven't tested the El Cajon so far but in my opinion you are a lot more restricted than with the Wavedrum.
Sorry for my bad english i'm from germany.
Hey Guys.. Like Adam I am very confuse in what to buy too. I thought this cajon was something great, but i spoke about Korg's Wavedrum, and fuc* its amazing.. Did you bought it?
add a built in loop feature and this would be so cool.
I am researching a good way to mic my cajon for live performances (not necessarily for recording). I just want a good live sound from my non-digital cajon. Would you recommend the way you have your cajon mic’d in this video good for playing live? If so, what kind of microphone are you using? Thanks!
great review guys. guy with the curly hair sounds just like Rhys Darby........band manager
What is the mike near the cajon?
I was interested to hear what this product sounds like - so why would you play a snare and shakers along to confuse the mix???
can i use electric cajon without hole
Please Where Can I Order This Cajon?
Need this Cajon a seperate SoundBox?
Is there a way to amplify the sound to my Motu 8 pre interface??
Hi Ellen,
The Roland El Cajon has a 6.5mm jack output located at the bottom of the back of the unit. This can be plugged into any of the combination XLR and Jack inputs that your Motu 8 pre interface has.
Cheers - Murdoch
Better Music thanks so much for your help, gonna hook it on my Motu and enjoy this Cajon like crazy! Greetings grom Holland and thanks for the great tutorial!
Ellen.
01:07 WOW! wait a sec dude, that was an eargasm. wait wait... woooww
I keep hearing "El Cojon"
cajon peruano papa !!!
+Diego Aragon Peruvian potato drawer!? Yep, they've come a long way since the 16th century. :) - Jol
So sad this is not MIDI. Big fail there Roland.
Adding MIDI to this cajon would be as useful as adding it to an electric/acoustic guitar. As both, a cajon and E/A guitar player, I totally understand why MIDI wasn't added.
Good promotion and explanation.
However having spent a fair bit of time playing this, to decide if I wanted it... I concluded it was just too gimmicky. The sound quality of the cajon is great. the samples sounds are obnoxious and poor quality.
Not brave enough to show it on it's own?
wher ima get dat shit at?? ina make sum killa ol skool thugbeat witit
ese cajón es de origen peruano.
I'm pretty much appalled by Roland's lack of cajones.
Talk less, play more
classic cajon is popular and liked because it is simple, has a beautiful classic sound, you can take it everywhere because it does not need electricity, it is relatively inexpensive and has a simple construction,......... this cajon "roland" is a total negation of all these features, Why something like that? It's like an apple with the taste of a watermelon, for me it is misunderstanding
Hi,your pronunciation of El Cajón is not correct.Impacts the A cAjón.You say "testicle" in Spanish..."COJON"....
Regards from Spain!
+ALEXNADAMAS Whoops... ... ...
That's pretty much what this thing is hanging there below the crotch... :)
wtf ?
como norte americano fala pqp
O cara é Australiano eheh
NO reference to the sound modules 🤐
Puro bla bla bla y no tocan ni una chingada
Renamed - Dude talking sh't for 6 mins and 49 secs of drums.
The electronic samples are lamer than hell. Why ruin an otherwise exquisite acoustic instrument with tacky sounds from a 1980s Casio keyboard?
Way too much talking play the instruments
So you turned a cardboard box into a shitty sounding drum. Then you turn that shitty sounding drum into a gigantic, heavy 2 pad controller, smh.
