Well we fabricated one of your skinning machine’s and tried it out tonight on a coon. Everything we did skinning went pretty good until we got to the head…. Messed up on an ear but it’ll be ok. All in all everything worked awesome! Thanks for sharing your methods. It only took us about 15 minutes to skin it and most of that time was getting our stuff around. We didn’t build the clamp to start it but after tonight we’re fabricating one. 👍👍

William Elbaum , You dont stop anyone from pulling the trigger dummy, and i bet you have a product in your possession that an animal was killed to make. ever eaten a salad at Mc Donalds, well if you have geuss what!? your supporting Mc Donalds witch is a huge supporter of the meat industry, hmmmmm. looks like your not as smart as you think you are. also its not murder, its called harvesting an animal just like God intended. calling it murder is just foolish, thats blurring the line between people and animals, people are way more important than all the animals on this earth.

@@williamelbaum6344 People like you live in houses made of wood, so you're destroying wildlife habitat for the wood to build them - along with your furniture. You drive cars with leather seats, wear leather belts and shoes... You're a bunch of self righteous hypocrites who would enjoy seeing videos of animals dying from disease or overpopulation more than the wise management of a renewable natural resource. You're a vegan - so what. If people truly came from animals then hunting or trapping is just a "natural" thing to do. You people are living and "un-natural" life style.

KSA خوله one its a use of an animal that if no season was on them they would over populate and die horrible deaths from disease and starvation and two if you don’t like a statement you can go fuck right off cause you obliviously don’t know anything about conservation and how when done properly it actually helps that species of animal.

Probably, I keep a old ratty long sleeve button up shirt in my shed, I on have a skinning machine but if you get your elbow and jam it into the skin it will form a little "pocket" at that point the skin and carcass will be flush against your shoulder. Using your body weight push straight down. You should be able to go from the hips the whole way to the front legs in one go.
*if you are very small or if you are a little kid you this method may not work the best for you.

I really enjoyed learning about the skinning process, but do a lot of skinners use the setup (machine?) and method you do or is it mostly done by hand/knife and takes a lot longer? Your process seems very quick. Also, I'm sorry but what does it mean to 'pop a penise bone' ? Do you use them for something like dog chews or does it literally rupture and make a mess?

I'm getting ready to go skin out a coon here in just a little while. The only thing I don't have is a tail stripper. I really need to order one sometime. May be able to pick one up in Wichita at Cabela's or Bass Pro. Because I don't have a stripper I end up splitting the tail all the way down but that's fine too. My pelts are for my own personal use and aren't sold or anything. I do all my own tanning as well. Thinking my next few coons or so are going to end up being mittens for myself or maybe a trapper's hat. Perhaps both if I can find patterns that aren't too crazy. What I really want is more coyotes to skin out and tan. I honestly think I love my coyote pelts most of all.

    • @CoonCreekOutdoors

the problem with washing after fleshing is that it to hard to control the drying of the pelt without having it shrink before its boarded. boarding a wet pelt will usually result in the fur slipping. if you are careful in the steps you use to flesh, the pelt, it will not become dirty. hope this explains thing for ya.

That’s an easy way to get the pelt off of the legs I normally cut a circle around each leg and a cut to the vent

Thank you so much for this video series man! Had to have watched it 100x waiting to get my first coon as a newbie this year. Caught my first coon today in a DP. Followed the steps as I went and look forward to starting the fleshing process tomorrow. Are you on FBook or Insta. Would love to follow. Much to learn!

How long can I keep a raccoon in the fridge after skinning before fleshing. Would 2 to 3 days be okay?

Is there any tips for cutting the eyes, I’m new to trapping and no one has showed me how to actually cut the eyes and in all videos it is hard to see. My eyes end up being the size of a quarter or half dollar and I keep messing up all my furs
