1. Make sure there is no heel movement, if it slips use a runners knot.
2. Clip your toes nails, long nails punch holes in socks and the upper of the shoes.
It's very simple for me, I just don't run enough to worry about any shoe lasting less then two years. Also recently saw a review on youtube of the Saucony Speed 3 with over 2700km! So I think most high end running shoes actually last a lot longer then what companies will make you believe.
I tend to get a bit of extra life out of my shoes by using them for general wear after their running life is over. For walking, where there is less impact, they are fine...
Same here. I use them for gardening, dog walking, hiking etc.
You can use worn out Alphaflys as life vest. Just tie them to your arms with a knot and they'll keep you up. Amazing how buoyant they are.
Thx Ben Great video. Ive started Revivo my Vivo's! I only have one pair as they have no cushion to recover but I definitely need to work on my form!
Missed ya Ben! Nice vid my guy
I wear through outsoles pretty quick and have had a few of pairs of shoes resoled over the years. The results have generally been good but they feel significantly heavier than when new - the replacement outsole always looks thicker than the original. As a result I would consider a resole on a daily trainer but probably not for faster shoes.
My tip is buy some asics noosa 14! They appear to be indestructible (600km so far!), though the foam's not for everyone, but personally love them!
Great tips!
Do you think shoes with a higher stack height last longer? For example, would an Asics Superblast last longer than a Novablast 3…would be interesting to know. Thanks a lot!
Great video. I might have accidentally worn my Alphafly for Barnsley Boundary Leg last month whoops. In my defence it was very dry and a fair bit of road thrown in too.
I don't want my running shoes to last...I want to wear them out so I can have an excuse to get another pair lol
thx
Good to visit a qualified podiatrist annually 🐾
They have fancy machines to check and see if the gait is balanced. They can prescribe insoles as appropriate...
I have found that if I get holes in the upper, if you catch it early, a hot glue gun will seal up the edges then fill the hole. Also if I get stones or glass penetrating the outsole, after carefully cleaning it out, I use hot glue to fill and seal the hole/cut.
In my experience the midsole wears out much faster than the outsole, often leading to pain when the foam is not preperly working any more, so a new outsole would not be an option for me.
I always wash my running shoes on my washing machine using a special program and never had a problem. I literally struggle to "destroy" them in order to replace them.
I always take out the insoles to allow the shoes to dry faster.
Thumbnail. I though you did 1000km in the peg next nature 😮
i think it's possible to get to 1000km in them. the midsole is tougher (albeit lot less responsive) than the og turbo and the outsole seems thicker.
Sure you can, but i though he did 1000km in them. Not pleasant km's 😅
@@Eirikkinserdal i think a slow runner like me can get to 1000km and the whole 1000km being pleasant. i'm not running hard and not squishing the foam like a fast guy would. i'm 50min 10K guy 😂 have peg turbo 1 with 600km and there is not a whole lot of difference than a new pair in how it feels
I don't own neither of them but based on reviews the peg next nature is a brick 😅 that's why i wondered if Ben did 1000km in them
@@Eirikkinserdal ahaa. got it
but i was 95% sure the thumbnail was just a clickbait. :)
This review does not help the shoe geeks. We need how to make your shoes last shorter so we can convince the wife to buy more.
My tip is probably a mental thing but after every run, clean the running shoes with a cloth and soap so that they look immaculate for the next run. Makes you feel like they still look good and life in them when you put them on for the next run.
Tip 1: Learn propper running technique to avoid a run style similar to a drug addict doing the harlem shuffle.
Tip 2: Run as a human should be running, not like a limp donkey. So land mid-forefoot and don't drag your feet.
Tip 3: Do running drills to improve technique. Sprints and especially hill sprints help to learn you to land on your mid-forefoot.
Tip 4: stop being fat because you are killing both your shoes and joints. Do fasting, diet, omad, keto or whatever that gets you from looking and feeling like a jelly pudding 🍮. And remember, you cannot outrun a bad diet. And please don't order fast food only to try and run away from the delivery guy, then blame him for being a feeder/enabler once he catches up. It's your responsibility to eat healthy.
