Cheers, Ryan! 👊🏼 You’ve got a big rotation! I’m the opposite in that I find it easy to get rid of shoes. Out with the old and in with the new. I always either sell or donate my old shoes. They never get thrown away.

Why do I need multiple pairs of shoes…. If my wife is allowed multiple pairs of shoes then so am I 🤣 🤣 . Currently only have 4 pairs in a rotation NB 1080 v 10 for longer slower runs and I jump between the reebok energy 2s and 3s for daily trainer. Also keep a pair of reebok run fast 2s in the gym bag for treadmill sessions. Really missing that Florida heat! Keeping my fingers crossed that things open up and I can get out there before the year is out!

I usually have 3 pair... 2 trail, 1 road/ treadmill. I always look to see what's on clearance, then read the specs and reviews, before buying. I rarely spend over $80, often $60! I was laughing at first when you were talking about not wanting to run in dirty shoes. As a trail runner, that new shoe look goes away pretty darn quick! Lol I loved when you said dirty trail shoes are the sign of a life well lived. Those Path project shirts are so cool, I'll have to check them out! I probably won't buy any right now, since my treadmill shoes (Hoka Cliftons) are going to need to be replaced soon! 😆

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  3 года назад +1

I don’t think I really mean I don’t like running in dirty shoes. Well, I don’t want to run in dirty shoes, but I want to clean them less than that. So ultimately, the dirt stays.
The only shoes I ever clean are trail shoes, because they get so caked in mud and whatnot that I just hose them off after a good and filthy run!
I’m hearing from a lot of people the Clifton 7s can be bought for a good deal now the 8s are out!

Thanks for the Father’s Day wishes, Lesley! Due to some other comments, It appears I wasn’t clear about the whole walk/run thing. You’re right to use running shoes if you’re going to be running at all.
When I said keep walking shoes separate from running shoes, I meant keep shoes you use for fitness activities separate from your everyday-run errands-type of shoes. Yes, I’m sure you need more, but how many more? (

My budget right now is maybe for two shoes. I’m not really into speed work so much , I really appreciate distance. I’ve been working my NB 1080v11 and I’m going to try a Salomon speed cross 5 for the trail. I’m thinking of the rebel v2 or that puma Matt mentioned for speed work with comfort but I just keep looking for more shoes that are similar to the 1080v11. Something that is supremely comfortable for long distances.

I find myself looking for those long distance comfortable shoes the most too! Luckily the Puma Deviate Nitros feel just as good at a slower pace as they do dropping the hammer!

Basically, I like to have 1 super comfy recovery day shoe, 1 shoe that’s perfect for a long easy run, 2-3 pairs of daily training versatile shoes which are fine for longer efforts but can also pick it up a bit if needed, 2 pairs of faster effort/racing type shoes, a pair of trail shoes, and then maybe another 1-2 pairs that aren’t special in any way but you can throw on for an easy up-to-10k run just to eat up some miles on days where there’s really nothing on the plan.

🤔 great question. The answer is no. I should clarify that shoes used for running/walking (athletic purpose) ought to be separate from “running” shoes used to run errands/hang out.
Yours could be the healthiest shoe rotation I’ve heard of, Thomas. When you can go over two months without wearing the same shoes twice, you’re winning!

@@its_Matt_B_ T am actually pretty close to that. Obviously i don`t use shoes from the winter half in the summer half and vice versa. Within each 6 month period, there are 4 pairs allowed to accompany on a run a maximum of 3 times per month. The rest of the runs i spread evenly.
In my opinion, running mostly very slow, rotating constantly, eating well ( wholefood plant based), getting enough sleep and being outside for every sunrise ( i am doing that not as long as the other mentioned subjects, just since my retirement in early 2018) are my centerpieces of running injury free and happy. I also run twice a day almost every day since retirement, for my "long runs", i just change shoes and shirts between my 2 runs
p.s. the incoming shoe is the Topo cyclone

@@thomasfritz2698 You’re loving your best life in retirement. I love the idea of being outside for every sunrise.
Do you maintain a written schedule/spreadsheet to keep track of which shoes were used when?

@@its_Matt_B_ absolutely. That is the only thing i write down in my journal. In the column i got the 12 months, and in each row i got a shoe. So i know at any time the distance i ran in the shoe over the months of the year, but i only write down the month never the date....nobody cares, my joy in running is running, not looking at numbers in my journal ( that was very different in the 80th, when i wrote down everything about a run and enjoyed looking at it every other week). For me the value of my running is today only
