Celeste's love affair with this mid-century gem, originally crafted by architect Winston Elting in 1956, began at first sight. This picturesque abode, perched above the tranquil waters of Lake Michigan, boasts expansive floor-to-ceiling glass windows that frame breathtaking views. For her weekend retreat, Celeste opted for subtle cosmetic enhancements while also optimizing the kitchen and primary bath layouts. Remaining faithful to the home’s original design ethos was important for Celeste, who allowed the existing materials and color palette of her natural surroundings to guide the overall aesthetic. My favorite house that has been featured on this channel by far! As an architect myself, I appreciate the history behind the home and the owner's respect for it. I hope Homeworthy includes more modern and minimalist designs going forward. Just because a home is not packed with furniture, objects, and color, doesn't mean it can't be beautiful and cozy. Give us more of this!
This is absolutely my favorite home yet! It’s a dream to have such an original mod home. It’s stunning and this lady is so grateful and gracious. She truly loves this home for what it is. She understood its vibe and I’m happy she own it. No one else could have tailored it like her. It’s completely incredible.
I agree! There is something so extraordinarily comforting, warm and inviting about this home. Everything and all the furniture seems so comfortable and cozy. The dark paneling and brick brings a 70s vibe but with great class and luxury but subdued and not over the top. The glass windows overlooking the beauty of nature and the lake is incredible. The sunlight in the late afternoon is awesome and heavenly.

There aren't enough adjectives to describe how truly fabulous this home is. Absolutely fabulous and luxurious - but at the same time comfortable, cozy, inviting, livable, and homey.
Perfect in every detail. This house didn't sell for reason, the right person, steward for this property was in the waiting.
Natural elegance. She makes it look so simple and easy but such thought, restraint, and warmth went into the harmonious design. Absolutely fabulous.

I almost didn't watch this one because typically mid-century modern seems too sterile to me. But this has so much softness and warmth that I love it! And oh, those private courtyards!...and the overall views and acreage!... just perfect!! ❤❤❤

The energy in her home is so relaxing. I love how she managed all the aspects of the home and found balance between the architecture and her personal style.
Magnificent. The lighting - both natural and created - just so very gorgeous and embracing. The wooden surfaces (other textures too) - rich, and warm. Some of her mid century pieces, modern pieces, and fabrics - very handsome, and well chosen . Each season must bring its own light show. Wow. Many years of joy to Celeste and her family in that poetic structure.
So stunning. Simple, warm and cozy. The primary bedroom looks like it is actually outside. The kitchen is genius.

I love this home, and how all the furnishings and belongings have room to breathe! I think that I would feel very relaxed and at peace in this home. I adore all the windows and the unobstructed amazing view. So many tours of houses are jam packed with stuff. This home is a masterclass in restraint.
It reminds me of many of the mid century homes in the neighbourhood I grew up in. Every home was designed specifically for their owner and the site.

I am always so interested in a house ID when the owner is an architect. I even so curious to listen at the end of the video their definition of what is a house. Liked her simple but important tips which reflects her thoughtful character: cook what you are good with, easy table games for guests, no sitting places near the lake so you have to sit on the grass… Love all the house (except all what is made from animals: leather…) but my fav was the kitchen? My goodness! You wake up and you see nature you got to sleep and relax watching through the windows, you brush your teeth while looking plants… Congrats! Excellent house ❤🎉

And as a fan of Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright and all these amazing architects I really really love this house! There was a time in my life when I wished so deeply to study architecture, cause I had been interested in it for so many years. But for personal reasons it was not possible. But when I listen to Celeste I can understand her passion so well. She did so right with what she did (or not did) to this beautiful house. This home is absolutely gorgeous and I hope the doggie was only outside because of the film crew. The kitchen is so beautiful and the hidden cooktop is such an amazing idea. The kitchen fireplace sitting at eye level literally just invites you into the room. If I ever have the chance to build I will definitely look back on this video. Now I want to see your other home! ❤

Mid Century is usually not appealing to me nor a style I enjoy.
But this house is the first time I’d say I would absolutely live here and I love every single thing about this home. Inside and out. I’m not sure what the difference is with this one, but I think it’s the owner and her choices in furnishes and updates and style.
Normally I feel like Mid Century homes are not very warm and cozy. I feel they are harsh, with the minimalistic aesthetic and harsh lines etc. I respect the style, it just doesn’t feel right for me. But there is something different about this one. And like I said, I think it’s her, and what she’s done with it. It’s fantastic and feels so inviting.
What she has done with the bones of this house is incredible. She is very smart and talented and seems to have a very caring soul. Her family must be very proud of all she has accomplished so far.

I appreciate and respect the way Celeste articulates the features of her design and stunning home. She has honoured the mid-century property and I found it interesting that there is not one item of colour in the home, except maybe the beautiful pink glasses. So much thought went into this structure, and design. My husband is also an architect so I will have to show him this exquisite property. I like the word Celeste used that home is a place you go to "recharge." Unfortunately I found myself turning the volume down completely due to the annoying background music. It took away from the words being expressed. Sometimes I just have to mute and use subtitles. Love from sunny Sydney, Australia.

Its a wonderful mid century modern house. Beautiful and calm. Loved those pink glasses.
Love all of the home!!! She decorated it vary nice just love it. And I thought I was the only one that didn't have a TV, I do have 3 small flip up DVD players that I can use, but I have them in a closet. And I like more formal decor, but she did a vary beautiful job. I could live in the home and not miss all my clutter. I live in grand Rapids Michigan it's nice to see west Michigan she did a vary beautiful job.
The kitchen is not just a galley like most mid century homes. A nice breakfast area.
