- Surprisingly detailed and colorful action figures were made in 1990 of the characters of the cartoon show Pirates of Dark Water. Here I do a retro unboxing of the heroes of the set. Ren, Ioz, Niddler, and ...Zoolie? Where is Tula? Find out how incredible these figures really are, and who made the cut from the TV show in this review series.

All I remember from this show was it was on ABC on Saturday mornings, And Eddie and I think Laura Winslow as well, from Family Matters was hosting the block and they gave a brief description of the show before it started. I distinctly remember them saying that name, Wren.
That's where the show started but I never saw it until years later in re-runs.
That would be amusing to see them talking about this cartoon; connections like that always wow me, like seeing different celebrities playing old video game consoles when they were new and stuff.
How ingenious of you to redo your Ninja swords! I never knew this cartoon back then. Monkey Bird Niddler is impressive.
I also bedazzled them before bedazzling was a thing, gluing those sewing store jewels onto them. Wish I had a good example still.
The Bad guys look even more detailed than these heroes, they are a great set together.
@@MBXfilms Cool! Love that you're creative.
@@dennisang1432 I had decent amounts of toys but sometimes there were things you wanted and couldn't get. I had a few "made" things and plenty of paper cut out figures. So doing these videos documenting getting some of this stuff has been great.
I was 8 when these came out....I was still looking for 80s toys lines by late 89/90...I don't recall this line or cartoon..but i kinda dig the figures...
I think it flew under the radar in it's first run, but got more attention in re-runs on Cartoon Network. By then the toys were at discount stores.
Outstanding
The Pirates of Dark Water video games are exquisite, the Sega Genesis version 👌 the SNES, version is Final Fight re-skinned 😢 but fun with the art so its nostalgic awesome
Co-Op in the SNES goes a long way if you have someone to play with.
You do a great job reviewing these vintage gems. Hope there's some Playmates figures on the agenda 😃
Great to hear, that's what I try to do. I have no shortage of figures of all types from this time. Just a matter of opening or showing on video, and editing.
@@MBXfilms Thanks for your reply 👍 Maybe some Wild C.A.T.S. ? Nobody has given this particular Playmates line a quality review. Just a thought - thx again.
@@chevy-is-a-good-boy Good idea; I have to do lines that I was always going to collect. I'm not in a position to select things only for the channel right now. If it can grow to be profitable that's what I would like to do though.
@@MBXfilms Yes, of course. Only if it's your jam, you don't owe us anything beyond what you yourself enjoy.
