I used to love getting knock off action figures. You could mix them with the real deal and create cool storylines. Same with the 3.5 GI Joes. They made tons of knock offs and also made 3.5 figures of a lot of TV shows. I remember my brother and I used to create storylines with Cobra trying knock off the A Team. LOL.
That was always the worst! I lost so many toys to yardsales and goodwill, and I never had a say about it. Parents just don't understand! Thanks for watching and I'm sorry for your loss.
I went ALL IN with Sectaurs! My father was happy to get me those, as the puppetry aspect & frankly, the creative idea of the figures was unique which he enjoyed with me. Even, was it, Spidrax's castle? 🏰
Awesome!!!!! I'm starting to bring back the older intros because of people like you that dig them!!! Thanks again, buddy. The package was top-notch...I can't say thank you enough. Thanks for watching!!!!
YYYYYYYYOOOOO!!!!!! Awesome video! With the Guardians & DR & D mounts, I would have totally koved them as a kid 'cause finally Beast Man, Moss Man, and Evil Lynn would have thier own creature cars, LOL!! And another thing about DR & D, I can see some African inspiration in some of those weapon designs, shyte let me find a pack online, I drop $45 for those!!! The Insect and Flex-o's.......nah, wouldn't have messed with them. Lastly, those Brawlers.....😮😮😮🫨🫨🫨😃😃😃why oh WHY were we robbed of THOSE?!? They could have fit into almost ANY toyline....MOTU, TMNT, Inhumanoids?!? Wow.....great job bruh!!!
Hmm, some Kenner Kaiju action. That would have been cool!! Great episode, cool topic. Maybe this could expand into "Toys that never were.." as well, that would be neat, like...MEGAFORCE!! Anyway, great episode! See you in the next one, and stay dorky!!
More Kaiju toys, the better!! I might expand into that one day, but for now these forgotten toys have my plate very full. Thanks for watching, buddy!!!
Ahhh SunGold always reminds me of the Galaxy Warriors MotU KO line...those Defenders of the Planets def had Galaxy Warriors/Heroes SunGold vibes. And the Insectaurs line was the jam!!!
We had Strong arm and Caius maior, we had two of the beasts as well. I can't remember how we got them as we definitely went for MOTU whenever possible.
This is becoming my new hobby, I'm writing Larry hama style file cards for forgotten toys and toys that didn't get them like the fortnite line, sometime when I got a bunch of them done I'll email them to you brother, great episode, awesome new series!!!!
Half the fun of doing these episodes is finding the lost treasures of the 80s. AND once those are all found, I can move onto the 90s, lol. Thanks for watching, buddy!!!!
You'd be surprised by some of the comments I've gotten. It's more of a "know-it-all" aggression than offense, lol. But I like to keep it chill and nip negativity in the bud. Thanks for checking out the video!
Sectaurs toys were amazingly sculpted, however with a nearly non existent show to showcase the line- it didn’t sell. I believe there was maybe a 5 or 6 episode mini series that was produced. With that I don’t remember it ever being aired.
Holy Heck! Those Battle Brawlers look awesome! But I bet they weren't cheap! Much like the Inhumanoids Toys. That and not being Small probably hurt it as well... that and I can see kids hurtig themselves with them. Not having a cartoon back in the day probably hurt it too
I'm remember getting a lot of these at Lanes a pharmacy chain. Never heard of battle brawlers. I think if they committed to a more Kaiju theme it might have went somewhere. Inhumanoids were great that way .
Inhumanoids were indeed awesome. They could have definitely went the Kaiju route with these. I remember the Woolworth's in town had a ton of figures like these but I never saw most of these there. Thanks for watching!!!!
Yeah, these would have been fun if they came out a little earlier with Voltron, Inhumanoids, and the Rancor to mix it up with. Or a little later to go at it with Power Rangers.
That was so wizard!!! I know I had dragons, knigjts and daggers and the warrior weapons set!!! I think I had some defenders of the planet, though they look really similar to other figures I had. I have not thought of that stuff for decades. Thanks for helping bring back happy memories of going to kreskies witj my mom and getting a toy!!!
I'm happy to help you remember some good times from your childhood. Those weapons packs look great. Also, a lot of the figures looked the same because they were made by the same company, they just changed the name of the toy line, lol. It was such a wild time in the toy biz, I love it. I'll talk about all those down the road. Thanks for watching!!!!
A big thing was whether you shopped for toys at Toy Stores or at stores like Kmart and Zayers. The mall toy stores had very limited shelf space for what they were paying in rent and didn't experiment as much. Also a lot of these were variations from the second-tier toy brands like Remco, Gay, and Imperial that were exclusive a specific retailer that might have been regional.
Battle Brawlers look more like Kenner's response to Hasbro's Inhumanoids than to Masters of the Universe. And/or maybe they saw the writing on the wall with Masters of the Universe's declining sales...fantasy toys were fading.
I remember one time seeing a Sectaurs cartoon playing on an endcap at Kmart or Venture above the figure display. Never saw them again and never had an interest. Never saw the cartoon on TV.
The Sectaurs were kind of... ugly? They are not aesthetically pleasing that's for sure. It's obviously a cool idea, but the Insectaur's gnarly appearance didn't exactly scream crossover
Thank you!!! Hey, I think everyone in this community is awesome and understanding. If you want to comment, go ahead...we all like to learn new things about toys. Thanks for watching!!!!
@@MySideoftheLaundryRoom I used to think the 80s toy nerds were a pretty good-natured bunch but the Kevin Smith He-Man thing really brought out a lot of venom in the fandom. Before you could kind of feel an undercurrent of bad vibes coming from the Star Wars wing of the community. I really got tempted to go "white knight" during the Ghostbusters remake era but the movie was bad enough that it deserved some of the hate it got. It is kind of sad that there is so much negativity while at the same time we're just getting so much amazing stuff. I mean I only collect 1/18 scale figures and if I thought about it there is easily 400 figures out that I would like to add to my collection. Not to mention the cool custom figures you could kitbash from marauders and big boss studios. If I could pick how things are they would be different but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy how good we have it. This video topic in particular and the execution were really great. You are getting better and better at this every week. This one really hit home with a big chunk of the fanbase because I think this is where we really made He-Man our own by adding these toys into our personal Masterverses. I feel like most kids added Thundercats with the reestablished characters but we had make these guys up our selves and fit them in with our imaginations using Krull, and Beastmaster and Dune, and Clash of the Titans and Conan and Gummy Bears and everything else for inspiration.
Firstly, thank you! Second, I agree with the "new" toxic fandom surrounding 80s geekdom. It's really sad that people can't get out of their own headspace sometimes and just enjoy the new world around them. I can still remember as a kid wishing for some of the stuff that is being released nowadays, and I still carry that excitement with me as I had as a kid. Things change, and that's not a bad thing. We still have our own histories with the items from the past and that doesn't change.
if your hands were tied down, would you be able to talk? lol! i keep thinking you're trying to do sign-language. "vintage defenders of the planets MOTU Quasar sparkle Toy 1985 Action Figure" is $20...plus $11 shipped on Ebay rn. yikes! Bendy He-Man figures? ...that's interesting. The Warriors Weapons gold pack has a skeleton hand back-scratcher! Battle Brawlers look cool! They kinda remind me of the GI Joe space monsters.
You are so correct! Thanks for letting me know! It couldn't be that I just added something I liked to the intro I created....nah, that would be impossible!

Sorry I'm late to the party. I'm almost 50. I really loved seeing these old toys. A time in life with no worries
That intro is fantastic. Basically summed up my entire childhood. Cheers bro!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!!
Thanks for watching!!!!
Same here.
This was the 80's Where's my miniseries
I had Hammertail. It was awesome. I miss that thing. My mom made me give it to her friend's kid.
That was always the worst! I lost so many toys to yardsales and goodwill, and I never had a say about it. Parents just don't understand!

There were so many obscure 80s fantasy toys. I regretfully sold all of mine on ebay a few years ago.
This one has to be my favorite one of your videos so far!
I remember how excited I was to get He-Man for Christmas only to open Orion Defender of the Planet
Eek! I'm sure Orion had his strong points too... at least I hope.
Thanks for watching!!!

The HIVE!
Also, I'm not sure if the "spin cycle" is a shoot or a work...but I love it either way.
Definitely a shoot, brother! The only free time I get anymore is in between loads of laundry, lol.

Hey, that's the opening music I was talking about Rob! Awesome. Captures the era perfectly. Hope all is well with you. Looking forward to the videos!

Another great episode!

Anyone remember Sectaurs!? Had puppeted Cross between an arachnid and a bee, with eight eyes, flapping wings and a saddled warrior figure.
They were the best! One of my favorite toy lines ever.
Thanks for watching!
That sounds like Spidrax, did he have like 6 weapons?
This was so great 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much!!!!!
Man, ive always loved the ko/3rd party stuff. So ive managed to own, others ive had to make my own custom figures. They have their own kind of charm
That's awesome! I've always wanted to try and make my own, but I usually psyche myself out, lol.

Wow. I dont remember any of these. The villains in the Guardians line I would of definitely wanted.
Wow companies sure got a lot of mileage outta Sungold's Galaxy figure bodies.
Thank you!
I was a big fan of all these different style he man like figures I got as many as I could for army builders and I had the most epic battles
It's just the hairstyle of the 80s and ginger. I had the same hair until my mullet in 89
I had the standard helmet hair throughout elementary school, lol
