I was recently diagnosed with proteinuria. I'm on cholesterol, high blood pressure meds etc. I'm sure it was due to the carnivore diet I tried recently so now am back on low carb high fiber diet.

We have an older, longer video on protein to make sure to check that out! We have our videos structured to address one question at a time right now as that is easier for people to digest.
I love the fact that you answer people because that's what we're all looking for I can't afford to pay to have somebody help me with my kidney problem I'm stage 3 I want to thank both of you from the bottom of my heart
Protein needs aren't directly calculated from protein lost in urine. They will depend on stage of CKD, other health factors, body size, physical activity, etc. We have some other episodes on protein that can help you estimate needs, but it is best to work 1:1 with a renal dietitian to help determine your protein needs. There is a database at: www.kidney.org/ckdrd
All of my issues atarted after contracting alpha gal from a tick bite. Now i have high protein in 3rd trimester pregnancy. Anytime i eat more meat my bp shoots up.
is this proteinuria? happens every time I eat more than 50 or 60grams of protein in a day. terrible pain passing it. then goes away forever until I accidentally have too much protein again a week a 3 months later... happens every single time. ruclips.net/user/shortsOsomjN2WsHI
You definitely don't want to stop eating protein all together. But with proteinuria, especially stage 3-5 CKD, total protein intake is usually limited (see our protein episodes for ranges to estimate how much you need), and whole food plant protein over animal protein and low sodium diet all help!
You can definitely help lower proteinuria with diet/lifestyle. We have a couple episodes on proteinuria you can check out. Also, highly recommend working 1:1 with a renal dietitian so they can help assess your individual needs and customize a plan to help kidney health. There is a database of renal dietitians at: www.kidney.org/ckdrd
Hi Sir; My father have BP issue after covid vaccination a year before, in January 2022 have stent, but his BP still not in control, a week before doctors advised to have 24 hour urine test and found the following; Protein (24 Hrs Urine) = 1.61/G Protein (Spot Urine) = 651 mg/dl Creatinine (Spot Urine)= 281 mg/dl Protein / Creatinine Ratio (Spot Urine)= 2.32 Now my father has swellings on the eyes, abdominal and stretch legs from 1 month, as well his BP is not stable and varies from 100/60 to 195/95 during day. My father is non-diabetic. Now nephrologist advised further autoimmune profile tests. Could you advised that these tests are relevant or my father should advise to visit another doctor? Please guide, and what treatment you recommended? Regards
We unfortunately cannot provide individualized advice or recommendations. It will be best to review your fathers labs, BP and other health concerns with his physician. Definitely don't hesitate to get a second opinion from another doctor if you are questioning any of his care.
This is a great topic! I experienced this, I looked malnourished in my labs. I had to add more protein. It’s a real balancing act.
IGA nephropathy was discovered in 1968 by Berger and after 56 years medicine still does not have a treatment which is a shame!
