The "wrinkles" and the dry brush paint give the impression that this is the face of some creature, something organic, not the plague doctor's mask. The effect is amazing! I'm going to try this with a brown-ish dry brush paint to see what I can get.
Awesome! I am excited to see your creation! If you like send me a picture at wickedaviary@gmail.com l would love to share the mask with the community ❤

Thank you Victor, l find the hardest part is to get a good fit and this technique made it simple and so fast. Let me know what kind of prop you would like me to make!

Hi and thanks for your amazing creation and video tutorials. I was wondering if it fine to use matte black spray paint for the final colouring. Thanks for your answer.
I've been looking for something like this! Lovely idea and it looks great! I'll attempt it myself because I really wanted to go as a plague doctor this halloween.
@@wickedaviary finished it all and making another. Everyone kept saying how cute it was and how they just wanted to spoil the plague doctor. Accidentally made mine too cute, giving in and making a very pastel valentines one now
This looks really cool. However I'm considering using black construction paper (something shiny if i can find it for a patent leather look) and like doing some stiches on the beak curve for a less sophisticated look.😅
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been searching for a good tutorial on Plague Doctor mask without the use of fancy leather and tools. I'll try this out and inform how it went! :D (If i remember hahah)
real nice tutorial, was a fun project but i was happy when i was over with it :D took me around 3-4 hours for everything, drying and figuring out what works best pattern is real good and i got a lot of compliments for the mask! cut some big holes in the bottom and small ones on top where the nostrils from a crow would be, still looks very good then and the glasses dont fog up anymore
I am glad you got it to work, I had no problem with foggy glasses, maybe the bottom part of mine was more open? but good for you figuring out the nose vent. Thank you for watching and for making the mask! So awesome...great times..happy halloween.
@@BeastyBoyBobby l am not sure which one you are referring to, l think l only used the wire around the mask to help it keep the shape so just measure around and overlap it at the bottom (chin). Good luck with your plague doctor and let me know if you run into problems 🤔😁❤
I am always using the standard size A4 regular sized paper and if needed, depending on the pattern, paste it together as indicated. Let me know if you have any more questions. Have fun with the project!
For regular paintI get the small sampler at home depot, l get the color l want for a good price. The metallic paint for accents are by Rust-oleum all paints water based.
@Keagan_Naudé hmm, you can try regular tape but it is not as secure as masking tape. Once the paper gets wet when adding glue regular tape might not hold it underneath, if you have duct take, that would work great. But if you want to give it a go with whatever tape you have, but it is a gamble l would not take, good luck to you, let me know how it went.
Hiya! I’m stuck at the beginning where you tape the lower part to the upper one. The lower part doesn’t fit to the upper beak, and when I try to tape it on (either on top of the upper part or with a space between the two) it won’t flip inwards. I literally have no idea how you made it work!
@SiriAnnePedersen hello, are you stuck with the paper pattern? Follow the pattern markings and use cardboard like a poster board or cereal material only, so it will bend on all direction, l hope this helps.
@@wickedaviaryThanks for your answer, and sorry that it took me so long to respond! I am using a cereal box to make the mask, so the material isn’t a problem. The cardboard itself bends easily, it’s just that I don’t really understand how to attach the lower beak to the upper beak, if that makes sense? I have used the paper pattern to cut out the cardboard but it seems like the two parts don’t fit together. Maybe I just should try to force them to bend to my will..!
I went back to my video and had to see how l showed the process of putting the pattern together, l do not show the side part long enough, sorry about that, you can watch the gilded plague doctor video where l use the same pattern, time stamp 5:50 l attache the side there, you do have to force it a bit but should not be a struggle, but watch the gilded plague doctor, let me know how it goes. And sorry for late reply, just got up, l live on the west coast 😊
