I used smashed Ruffle potato chips for the topping. It's how I was in taught.
My almost 30 year old son mentioned he 'liked' Tuna Helper. Got me thinking about making a Tuna Casserole for him. He's not sure if he'll like it, but I reminded him he 'likes' Tuna Helper. This version (after watching about 5 other videos) got my mouth watering! This one's a keeper and I'm gonna make this sooner than later. Oh, you're fun to watch...love the humor! Take care
OMG, this reminds me of Fridays in my home. Thursdays was meatloaf day, Wednesdays was either chili or mac and cheese, Tuesdays were tacos, Mondays was chicken noodle soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. Oh, my childhood days, I want to go back home again, but I can't because now I'm the one who has children coming home, and staying for several months. Oh well, thanks for the memories.
Live your life with your family as you where living when you where a child making them excellent tthey'll and you'll love and you'll live that nostalgia again for real ! Nice comments ! :>)))
This is the best tuna casserole.
I made it.
No going back after eating her recipe here!
Bravo!!
Gout sufferer here. No can do tuna. Switch it out for shredded chicken thigh meat.
Takes me back to when I was a (very!) young bride in the 1970’s. Then, 20 yrs later, an updated yummy version that my kids loved. This thing defies time!!
Just found you and can't stop adding all your recipes to my menu.....have to say my Son Thanks YOU :)
Made this recipe today. The proportions worked quite well. I used diced celery rather than frozen peas (two stalks). No mustard. Used a three cheese blend of Cheddar; Parmesan; and Gruyere. For the topping, 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs + 1/4 cup of crushed potato chips (along with some of the cheese mix grated and paprika and olive oil to dampen). Since intended for meatless Wed & Fri, used vegetable stock in lieu of chicken stock along with the milk as per recipe. Very nice indeed. Thank you.
It’s been at least 30+ years since I’ve had this dish. WOW!! I need to make your boujee version ASAP.
I am one of 13 children and my mother never made tuna noodle casserole. Looks delicious. Going to make it
I’m a rebel...green beans instead of peas. My tuna casserole was on the menu for this week. I think I’ll try yours instead!
...i like to saute red or yellow bell peppers and maybe some celery.
You - 1989. Me - 1969. I made a tuna noodle casserole tonight, then watched vids of it while it baked. I didn't have fresh mushrooms, so I did use the canned soup. But I did have a sweet onion I sauteed, and I did use half and half. The only shredded cheese I had was Gouda, and it was good enough. I didn't have frozen peas, and thought I had canned, but didn't. Next time. I did use buttery bread crumbs on top.
Tuna casserole was always in my top 2 favorites, the other being lasagna, Mom always used the bottom of the bag potato chip crumbs for the topping, and she always made 2 pans, one for the rest of the family, and one for me, Been to long, I need to make this soon. Miss you Mom. Thanks
Fell in love with her voice and her recipes
Definitely a childhood favorite. My mom God rest her soul , used to use Cream Of Celery .
Yum I love Tuna Noodle Casserole even at 5am. I would love a small bowl. Thanks Nicole.
I love that you keep eating and enjoying. Reassures me that its delicious, not the one little taste or no taste of most cooks. I’m making this next Friday , yum
I came here because I've been craving this I haven't had it in a couple of years. Went and got all the stuff, I couldn't remember if you needed to cook the noodles first or not!!! Seriously one of the all-time best comfort foods! Thanks for the recipe!
Yum! This makes me hungry. And makes me wanna be a kid again too! Thanks Nicole!
I made this for dinner tonight and even my pickiest kids loved it.
I like your no nonsense lets get it done approach. Looks good can't wait to try it.
Yeeeesss This Does Take Me Waaay Back!!! That’s a Delicious Classic I Must Say😊
Love this dish! Definitely a staple in our house growing up but my mom always used crushed potato chips on top... with cheese. 😁
Crushed potato chips. THE BEST!
Tried this tonight. Added carrots, celery and red peppers to the sauce. I also used albacore. It was fantastic. Thanks for the great recipe.
Omg this is so nostalgic 🤭 this dish was famous in my family growing up in the 80s and 90s ! I’ve got to make this !
I learned a new topping!! Crushed Cheez its!!!
Wow....Made this tonight and what a tasty dish. Made exactly(almost) like yours...even the own made cream sauce. I didn't have the panko but i did have a box of stove top dressing so I sprinkled some of that on top. Simply....DELICIOUS !!!! Thank you for posting it. I definately will be making this over again and again.
I made this and it is amazing!! I will never make Tuna Noodle Casserole any other way now. This is a definite keeper and going into rotation! Thank you Nicole! :)
This looks so much better than my Mom's recipe!!! May she RIP...
Everything same as I grew up with except we used crushed up potatoe chips. Like your crumb idea better. Tks
You were soooo cute! Thanks for sharing the pic!! I love your suggestion for making your own "cream of whatever"..I will have to try that..Love tuna noodle casserole...

Looks good! I always dice up a little sweet onion and celery with mine.
You made me want to make this. Thx.
always enjoy your videos we make the canned soup version but need to use turkey instead of tuna [you know allergies thing] and no peas we really like that and is a good easy way to use left over turkey thanks Nicole
Well this is what I'm feeding people tonight 💯

Trying this tonight!
I just put mine in the oven. Thanks for the great idea! I never make tuna noodle casserole, because cream of mushroom soup is scary to me. Lol

Well....take a Big Ole Bite !!! You are so funny.....I Love your Videos....Thanks for all that you do...
I tryed that recipe and now it's part of my palette wich i make regularly. Thanx to you ! :>)))
I’ll make this tonight 😊
Aww my mama made that omg I know what's for supper
Assuming you didn't want to make your own sauce how many cans of cream of mushroom soup would you use and would everything else stay the same as far as ingredients and cooking? Thank you and thanks for sharing.
@@Gnomes22 Thank you very much
❤❤❤
My classic is cream mushroom soup!
Topped with potato chips!
👍🏻👍🏻
Just substitute some of your leftover Thanksgiving Turkey for another variation. Maybe add some hot sauce, and your choice of cheese as well. Or cranberries and bacon. But this recipe rocks!😸
I had this tuna pun for you..
*But it's a little fishy, so I guess I'll just can it.*
I always welcome the oppor-_tuna_-ty to read your food puns! 😄
@@anthonychihuahua 😁
@Angel Bulldog I just noticed that typo 🤣
Oy...
@@Passionforfoodrecipes Hey, haven't I seen you somewhere? You know, when I made this I only had shredded Gouda. It was Goudanough.
I also use white wine in the initial sauce
Haha funny when she says OG at one point...this is truly an old school original recipe that is comfort food...only a bit more cost PLEASE use white albacore tho. Some chunk light tuna can ruin everything!
Early❤
Have a great weekend everyone✨😊
Sending❤
Also if you can find a tuna called "Tongol" (sometimes under different names that I can't keep track of, my local store brand calls it "Tongol"), it's a much milder-tasting tuna than Albacore, kind-of buttery, and even better it has negligible amounts of mercury compared to the big guys (Albacore). So you can eat Tongol tuna all the time. For me, Albacore has a very very strong taste that overwhelms everything else, but I love Tongol; the difference is not subtle.
Taking this to my dear friend who's mom passed... Can I make it the night before?
Do I cook it first... or not??
Thanks! ❣️
I'm gona make it...thank you gf!!!!! :))
"Take me back, To my old home..." - Dean Ford, Marmalade
@Big Bad John - Oh, I do love that song. thanks.
@@daschundloverable -- When she said "Take me back," I couldn't help myself. Glad you remembered the song. ; )
Love your tips....
I'm making this reciepe again tonight as i said, it will be part of my culinary palette for a long time, i really love that dish ! (((
Can this be done with corn starch instead of flour?
I use boring ole panko bread crumbs..🙃😌.. Allergic to cheese🥺
whats the oven set at, for 30 minutes?
Tator tot casserole next!
Eating tuna noodle casserole in a leotard, priceless!
You can cook, and you are kinda funny 👍 I will make this recipe into a 1-minute video and post it to tik Tok...😊
Where is the printed recipe?
A couple of comments down.
I add some crunched Doritos to my topping..
Could you add amounts on sauce??

How can I find the written recipe?
A couple of comments down.
Just some advice for anyone who thinks they may not like canned tuna...try white (Albacore) tuna first. It's a lot milder; has a much less fishy flavour, and has a firmer texture. It's also a bit more expensive, but very much worth it. It's what I grew up on, so now I can't eat the light tuna in anything...after trying it a cpl of times and 🤢.
Albacore has a higher mercury content.
She makes the besr
Hi, where is the written recipe, and how many people it serves
Just love your voice! Sexy. After just watching a video on frozen Stoffer's tuna casserole slop I'm going to do this recipe tomorrow night! Will do chives in place of the parsley at the end.
Dont say no rules when you give rules. It matters.
Looks good but I think I'd rather do chicken because hot tuna is 🤢
I never knew frozen peas were a part of it because my mom never used them and hers was delicious. She also knew I hated peas! She topped hers with crumbled potato chips
My mom used potato chips on top to (which I never liked. Hot limp chips). But she did use peas. It is from the classic recipe, but your mom spared you. ❤ Wish my did with the hot limp chips. I make mine today with panko. 😊
Ok, so I tried this tonight and actually doubled up a bit on the sauce and the final version was still really thick and not juicy at all. It tasted good, but the sauce was way too thick and I also made way to much, only noticing later that this recipe is geared to serve 8 people and there are three of us.........way too many leftovers.
My news is the same still
1st
0:46 - "No rules here."
2:01 - "I'm gonna follow the rules here."
Well, which is it?🤔
It’s not complete without the peas! Enough said!!
OMG for some reason you tube keeps feeding me tuna casserole recipes, it so hard for me to understand why so many people say that this was their favorite childhood food or call it comfort food. Where I come from and how I grew up, Tuna Casserole was the meal of last resort when you were flat broke and had no other alternatives. All I can say bless your heart.
I’m going to be successful 🥺💕
No rue, canned cream of mush & 1/2 & 1/2!
