- Sound Like Mike Kerr - Royal Blood | One Amp Only | Quickest Tutorial | Cheap Set Up | HD
This is the simplest set up possible as far as I`m concerned. Most of the gear I am using here has cheaper equivalents, so if you follow the instructions you should be able to put this together on a budget, with a bit of research.
I spent:
Aguilar Tone Hammer - £219 - You can find a 2 channel DI/Splitter box for around £25 instead
POG 2 - £180 - You can find a very good octave pedal for around £100 instead
Behringer AB200 - £25 - this is pretty much the cheapest and best option
Aura Crunch Master (Drive/Distortion) - £100 - You Can Find a good overdrive/distortion pedal for £20 - £30
2 Jacks to 1 Jack Adaptor - £1.99

Thanks for taking the time to do this! I’m researching some options to get the Royal Blood sound without going into ludicrous debt in the process, and this setup sounds solid.
I’m glad you find it useful mate ! Thanks for the comment.
Nice, thanks!
I’m using 2 amps but the same configurations in pog 2 and the Drive im using a Pro Co Turbo Rat sounds good too.
Two Amps is always better. And the fuzz you use is awesome 🤘
Tks
Thank you
Glad you found it useful.
use a boss ls-2 foot switch works great, i used to run one but now 2 amps and a aby switch
Sounds good, I`ll give it a try.
Also theoretically, if I had the same setup but with a guitar, and the octave pedal going down rather than up, would this work too? (So I’d have a channel for the bass part then I’d have a channel for the guitar part with fuzz)
Yes it will definitely work, but I imagine it will sound quite different compared to the other way around.
What alternative would you recommend to the Aguilar? I’ve been looking around for a cheap alternative but I can’t find one under £100
The Joyo Dr J Sparrow is a great little preamp/DI pedal for bass (around £65). Downsides - Doesn`t work with phantom power, and the distortion is activated with a knob rather than a switch, so you are either distorting or not (which is quite a common thing , for example SansAmp is the same) . Behringer SF300 it’s a perfect analog clone based on the SuperFuzz circuit
Which ab200 did you get that comes with a di input? I’ve been looking hard on the internet but can’t find any with the di input , just the normal cable inputs
It’s a jack input actually. So you need an xlr (di) to jack cable from the di box to the AB splitter pedal. I don’t think they make any splitter AB pedals with xlr inputs. Apologies for not mentioning that in the video 🙂 and hope this helps.
Many thx for this video!
If I put my dry bass signal first in my splitter pedal from where one of the two singnals goes through an octaver & distortion pedal combi and then meets the other signal (dry bass signal) in the jack converter into the bass speaker, do you think this works?
Yes, I think it will work :-)
What kind of amp will you use with that kind of setting?
Here I`m not using an amp, I`m goinfg straight into my computer, but any kind of amp should work with this setup.
@@GeorgeGeorgeBass ok thanks
I got a markbass 121 and wonder how the guitar part may sound on it
@@PonyMonbana it should sound pretty freaking good to be honest 🙂
