You were so much closer without busting the bank, if feel like the By busting the bank should be an opportunity to get it 100% accurate not seeing how much money you can spend. You chose not not pick the actuall bass he uses because you found a more expensive one...
no it wasn't! THIS was more spot on tonally cos out of the black sounded like a wet fart on the without busting figure it out was played wrong and they left out the best riff to do, Ten Tonne Skeleton
mike kerr uses the hollow body in a b tuning any only for songs like little monster so they kinda just looked at what he uses more than HOW it’s used(bass wise)
I personally like the one on a limited budget a little better (I listened to this first, then the limited budget) but they're both some very cool sounds!
Scott Robertson he also uses a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster live. Not sure about studio but it's definitely used often in Tame Impala's live performances
William Allison simple one, that: get a crazy guy, give him a synth and a Stratocaster. For Fripp......call a bank and ask about refinancing your house. For Tony Levin, chop off your hand and pray to C'thulu for a chance at the talent. And then, just maybe, you too can sound like King Crimson. After all, we still don't know how it works ;-)
Mike uses like 5 different bass guitars for different songs and each songs sounds different.. I think you can't really "nail" Royal Blood sound with just one bass.. Pretty sure they nailed the sound for atleast one RB song with this setup..
Kerr said in an interview that he used the Fender Jaguar bass for most of the songs on the new album. He also used a Fender Starcaster for the lower tuned songs (B and C standard).
wiggledix bubsy hmm. I'm not a bass man, I just knew for certain that he was playing multiple fender basses during a music festival earlier this year. So, I reckon it's a fender bass that has buckers in, any ideas?
The Fender he uses often with buckers is a Starcaster. I've also seen him with something that looks like a Jaguar but with a single humbucker instead of the normal Jag P/J. Either way, that isn't the problem so much, that bass can hit the sound close enough to make no difference, the issue is they haven't paired the guitar amp with the right bass amp. Forget sticking to a Fender product, they simply need at least a hybrid if not full tube power for the bass amp to hit his sound. A Rumble(while pretty good for the money) is not even close to the sound of a Bassman, simply the difference between a tube amp and a solid state. Better off with a tube Ampeg/Markbass/whatever high-end all tube head or combo they carry
Guys, Mike is using custom Fender Jaguar (or Jazzmaster?) short scale basses now. In the latest full video of a concert he didn't used the Starcaster at all, but those Jaguar's looke sweet.
Far too little bite. Just doesn't sound right to me. If you think about that he's imitating a complete band live, the tone they ended up with is just too muddy.
Vince McMahon likes big Texan bullies , its unplayable live, messing with all those pedals simultaneously. It was fun to see what the came up with but its a technical nightmare haha.
thank god its by busting the bank because other way you wouldnt have the money too rent a guy to help with that pedal switching hahahahahha love you guys
Sounds a lot further away from them than last time and it somehow sounds more cheap. Love the harmony pedal though but the bass sounds a little out of tune at times.
Radiohead was confirmed but they're trying to make a good rig, i think it should be Fender Modern Player Telecaster (it has a coil splitting humbucker) Fender Champion 40 (it's about the right size as Jonny's Fender amp or his Vox, but i think the fender) Pro Co Rat (to replicate his Marshall Shredmaster) Digitech Whammy (for songs like My Iron Lung) T Rex Neo Compressor (cos his clean tones are very compressed) and a Strymon Mobius (for all his weird sounds)
If they do Radiohead, I hope they bring in the third guitarist. So, they can replicate Ed's, Thom's and Jonny's guitar tones. Also it's gonna be quite tough for Ed because he uses a Sustainer pickup in his and at the moment there's no stock Strat with it (Ed's signature model finally coming this fall though). But instead of a Strat they could find a Fernandes guitar with Sustainer pickups for Ed.
i'm surprised there's no intro saying that it's sound like on andertons tv i must admit the outtakes make my day can i request some by busting versions of Joe Satriani Black Stone Cherry Queen Iron Maiden Black Keys Jack White The Darkness Metallica James Marshal Hendrix Motley Crue Aerosmith and that's the best i can do right now
The one thing I dislike about the "By busting The Bank" episodes is: Shop for accuracy without worrying about the budget. Don't try to spend as much as possible and still get close. Small but significant difference. Overall, I still love you guys though!
its doesnt really sound like royal blood, when there playing the riffs its reminiscent of the song and still has the same feel but not the same sound. its seems like the notes need to last longer, i think you need more pedals to make it sound like an Electric guitar like he does than just bass with a shit ton of distortion. You guys make great video's though.
yes it does! it sounds so much like royal blood out of the black sounded like a wet fart in the without busting and figure it out was too clinky in the without busting not entirely sure about little monster but this version is definately better than the without bustin
I got into Royal Blood last year thanks to you guys (and Biffy Clyro and Arcane Roots as well). Just a little detail, I would have the dry output of the POG completely off into the guitar amp. Anyway, keep the good work and DO MORE BASS SOUNDS LIKE PLEASE.
I'm a huge fan of sound like and royal blood but I must say that the tone is not quite thr right one. I have no clue thats exactly wrong with it (maybe more dirty tone) but it does not feel like royal blood. As I said I'm a huge fan of anderton's sound like so keep it up!
Sound like Korn, it would pretty cool. I have watched these videos for a long time and I love them, it's a good way to get inspired for tones, to your own rig. Cheers from Denmark
YES ! These guys are playing Australia's biggest festival in a few days and im gonna be there, this sounds like came just in time for a bit of extra hype !
mike kerr uses the ehx germanium fuzz as his distortion for things like lights out. the extra supersonic utilises the same effects as the first but also has the harmonist so you still get the 'guitar' tone and bass tone as well as the harmonist at the same time which is what makes it sound 'massive'. but also he uses some kind of auto wah or vibe which you can hear dotted throughout the second album. these are just suggestions which may get you closer, much respect to you guys for these videos and i'd love to see a sound like foals
Bea well done on the slim down man. You are looking really good bro. As for this bass style you might want to look at a character named Jah Wobble who kinda pioneered this kind of sledgehammer style. Probably the best showcase for the early days is still the first album from Public Image LTD.
I want them to remake this now after the release of typhoons cos some of the tones on that album are amazing
10:22 "Indicated by this big black knob" *Matt attempts to keep a straight face*
18:05 Even better xD
Classic
@@1999bilalblade Is that Limp Bizkit he goes into while Matt is cracking up?
SOUND LIKE ANYBODY! Without busting. Most versatile rig! Rabea vs Matt!
You were so much closer without busting the bank, if feel like the By busting the bank should be an opportunity to get it 100% accurate not seeing how much money you can spend. You chose not not pick the actuall bass he uses because you found a more expensive one...
the Gretsch was too cheap and the Fender Starcaster Bass wasn't in stock so they had to improvise
William Allison you missed the point, the gretsch is what he uses the fact it's "too cheap" is rediculous because the exact tone he has.
1:38 he stills uses it, pick it. as well half the riffs he played were off the old album which used that bass!
Jacob Ray he still uses it for Out of the Black. The only time ive seen him use the jaguar mainly is for Ten Tonne Skeleton
agreed
When I saw Matt at 10:26 I knew something related to the 'big black knob' was coming hahahaha
What's the funny thing about "big black knob"? I couldn't get it :(
knob means dick
Oh, British.
I think a tuning pedal would’ve helped your tone some
King Crimson/ Robert Fripp. I think the difficulty of nailing any sound would be interesting to watch
And Adrian Belew, he's gotta be there too
i loved his work in the bizzare song Elephant Talk
Agreed
The Fripp solo in David Bowie's 'Fashion' would be a good place to start!
Or the one from "The Night Watch", real landmark of Fripp's playing.
Absolutely! Fripp's guitar playing on 'scary monsters and super creeps' is fantastic.
10:22 Matt's face when he said "big black knob".
Without busting the Bank was actually more spot on tonally.
I mean Mike Kerr himself even plays a £250 Gretsch
I'd actually disagree, but only because of the amps and pedals they used in Without Busting. The bass itself was obviously exact.
no it wasn't! THIS was more spot on tonally
cos out of the black sounded like a wet fart on the without busting
figure it out was played wrong
and they left out the best riff to do, Ten Tonne Skeleton
mike kerr uses the hollow body in a b tuning any only for songs like little monster so they kinda just looked at what he uses more than HOW it’s used(bass wise)
@@TFranklin06 he used a Starcaster on little monster and ten tonne skeleton

Sound like Tame Impala/ Kevin Parker
moobashi yes man
It'd be incredibly difficult to get an ac15, a guitar, and all his pedals on a budget
moobashi very true, he uses Rickenbackers so that would be like all the budget hahahaha
Scott Robertson he also uses a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster live. Not sure about studio but it's definitely used often in Tame Impala's live performances
Alexis Santos ah right, cheers for that
Love that. You should do more sounds like with bass players
He only uses the semi hollow for Little Monster he now uses a modded Fender Jag Bass for most of the songs
Seeing Matt stifling laughter after hearing "big black knob" was priceless.
I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS!!
So happy.
Matt's face after Bea says "big black knob" is just great!
Could you guys please do Sound Like Robert Fripp?
and Adrian Belew if you're doing King Crimson
i love his work in Elephant Talk
William Allison simple one, that: get a crazy guy, give him a synth and a Stratocaster. For Fripp......call a bank and ask about refinancing your house. For Tony Levin, chop off your hand and pray to C'thulu for a chance at the talent.

This is the best series from you guys!
Absolutely brilliant guys! The riffs just blew my mind.
Matts face when Rabea say 'big black knob' trying to hold the laughter
Alice in Chains by busting!!! With the classic riffs!
Matt's face when Rabea says "Big black knob", priceless...
Sounds like Wolfmother!
At 10:20 you see Rabea say big black knob, and Matt holds in laughter. Tooooo good
Anyone notice Matt's face when Rabea said "Big black nob" ??😂😂
Haven't watched this since the sound like Royal Blood without busting the bank. Top video lads. Rabea you're looking good man.
Holy shit rebea looks fucking amazing
Amazing how much weight he lost
Props
How have you managed to sound less like it than your pretty spot on without busting version???!?
tansley09 its pretty dire - I love these sounds like but this is... not good.
Dave The Bass yeah the little monster sounded out of tune or the riff was played wrong
tansley09 pretty simple, because royal blood is a really really simple band and Rabea, especially, is wayyy beyond them lol
Mike uses like 5 different bass guitars for different songs and each songs sounds different.. I think you can't really "nail" Royal Blood sound with just one bass.. Pretty sure they nailed the sound for atleast one RB song with this setup..

NINE INCH NAILS!
I dare you try boys!
Sound like Prince with Pete please
That would definitely be appreciated !
Passed on...
Andertons Music Co what happened to Pete?
Only if he dresses up.
Someone has taste.
I think its time for a New Video to the New Album! Hyped
Sound Like A Perfect Circle could be cool
As soon as you said 'Big black knob' I knew there'd be bloopers. Matt's eyes after the cut were the other giveaway! 😂😂
still waiting for radiohead :/
they made a video about radiohead sound. lol
Matt's face when Rabea says 'Big black knob' you can see he's trying not to laugh haha!
Sound like motorhead (Lemmy)
How did you both not laugh your heads off when Rebea said 'big black knob'.... amazing statement, amazing vid!!
Would love to see a Sound Like Sleep or Electric Wizard! Need some Stoner Doom love in here!
Rabea - "... and it's got this big, black knob."
Matt - *stifles a laugh*
So... can you do it again when you have something he actually uses in stock..? this sounded nothing like royal blood.
SweBass agreed he just should have used a Mustang bass
tetrax th Kerr has buckers in all his basses. Mustang bass only has P and J pickups.
wiggledix bubsy hmm. I'm not a bass man, I just knew for certain that he was playing multiple fender basses during a music festival earlier this year. So, I reckon it's a fender bass that has buckers in, any ideas?
Yeah but he can’t because mike doesn’t share his pedals
The Fender he uses often with buckers is a Starcaster. I've also seen him with something that looks like a Jaguar but with a single humbucker instead of the normal Jag P/J. Either way, that isn't the problem so much, that bass can hit the sound close enough to make no difference, the issue is they haven't paired the guitar amp with the right bass amp. thank god its by busting the bank because other way you wouldnt have the money too rent a guy to help with that pedal switching hahahahahha love you guys
yes! can we get a bust the bank for sabbath and include geezer butler since it was his birthday and got a wah... please

Sound like Tame Impala! :)
Thank you for showing me this Band! Best thing I've heard for a long time.
Sounds like Periphery!
So good!!! Rabea looking super buff too!
"Spaghetti and Square Things."
New band name, called it!

Yes, now Muse BY BUSYING
Isaac Miller YASSSS

Radiohead
Highly suspect
Stone roses
Stone temple pilots
james Baggins highly suspect is such an underrated band, I'd love to see them do a sounds like for HS
Anthony Sclafani 100%. I've seen them a few times live and know their rig but would love to see a sounds like anyway

Joe Satriani
Black Stone Cherry
Queen
Iron Maiden
Black Keys
Jack White
The Darkness
Metallica
James Marshal Hendrix
Motley Crue
Aerosmith
and that's the best i can do right now

no they haven't, not by busting the bank
Wow. Those tones were great.
turning that big black knob?
This had made my week. SO GOOD

sounds like Kyuss would be cool
Just run an all humbucker guitar through a cranked bass amp with a Big Muff Pi or Fuzzface and roll a joint.
The sound that they got on the QOTSA sound like would do nicely for Kyuss songs as well.
I really like it when you do these effect heavy rigs. The most interesting sounds like by far...
Do KEVIN SHIELDS!
and Belinda Butcher from Bullet For My Valentine
wait that's thr wrong band
oh lol....
I use a Fender Jazz bass, a Fender Rumble 40 and a Bass Muff (tone 9 o'clock, sustain 3 o'clock) for playing Royal Blood.

yes it does! it sounds so much like royal blood

not entirely sure about little monster but this version is definately better than the without bustin
@PBL187 No it's not, the reverend bass is amazing, the Gretsch Electromatic they used in the budget vid wasn't even remotely close
@@KeeperOfPoops lol u realize that the gretsch is what mike actually used for most of their first album

yess
YES ! These guys are playing Australia's biggest festival in a few days and im gonna be there, this sounds like came just in time for a bit of extra hype !
mozzarox bro I was hoping I'd see a comment saying this, fuck yeah I'll be there!!
Sound like MEGADETH please!!!
Trekkie 135 yesss, i've been asking for so long!
Trekkie 135 sounding like Dave would be easy. Just make some douchey remarks and call people cunts
I also want to hear him sound like Chris Broderick. He's easily one of the best guitarists Megadeth has ever had.
Colour box is awesome. I used it to recreate The Beatles and it came out close.
So many people on youtube so early in the morning, wow. We're such sad bastards...
jmcdermottuk lol true shit
Or we have work, haha
Tom Evans at 2am?
time zones my dude
jmcdermottuk
It's 4:30 pm for me
I just love how people completely forget to leave feedback and just spam the comment with requests...
