The Atheist Community of Austin is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas. The Atheist Community of Austin is dedicated to promoting atheism, critical thinking, secular humanism, and the separation of religion and government.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

I've grown to hate this question for the simple fact that no matter how straightforward your answer is, they always seem to respond with "yeah, but" or something similar.
Atheists have no answers to my many indictments of atheism. Just lies, evasion, deflections, distractions and obfuscations.
“Why don’t you believe X?” is only a reasonable question after a claim has been presented and its burden of proof has been fulfilled.
@@Leith_Crowther Aside from in casual conversation, of course. If someone told me they have a pet dog and I said "I don't believe you" then that person would be perfectly justified in saying "why don't you believe me?"
Not that I think you don't know this, I'm just preemptively defending against people who don't know the difference between casual conversation and epistemology.

The caller said he is watching the show for years but has no clue and asks questions like he hasn’t seen an atheist before. How is this possible?

The first step is accepting "I don't know" is an acceptable answer to questions you don't know.
What a simple concept.
The first step to believing the Gospel (good news) is admitting one's sinful condition. We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners. If a man says he has never done wrong/sinned he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
@@paulgemme6056 I don't accept I am a sinner as sin definitionally requires there to be a god that you wronged, I have no reason to believe that a god exists.
Have I done things that most people would consider wrong, sure but there is no justification to believe that my wrong goes beyond the harm it has done to the person or persons that I have wronged, there is no justification that supernatural action is necessary, required or even exists.
The only thing you can demonstrate by stating that all have done wrong things, is that humans aren't perfect and we make mistakes, and sometimes we do things we shouldn't either out of fear or selfishness.
None of that even comes close to demonstrating that there is a god let alone that it's a specific god,

When you’ve been told never to think for yourself you wind up like the caller.
It’s the opposite.. there are many things that happen around us and we just believe they exist and we can’t see those processes happening with our natural eyes.
So when people talk about believing in God which we can’t see , many automatically resist the concept and why is that?
It’s more about not wanting to believe in something that isn’t explained in the Natural and one can only find proof themselves by GOING to God themselves and the correct way as well.

You can call it anecdote if you want, but there appears to be a strong correlation between "people who actually read The Bible [or w/e religious text]" and "not believing that BS". At least as far as your every day Theist anyway, most have read little if anything. The only real counter-example I see are the "fundamentalists" / "extremists" (which are the real believers if you ask me)

Science tells us that EVERYTHING in this world is DYING/losing information/dissipating in disorder/moving increasingly ONLY in one direction: bad to worse toward it’s heat death end. There's never any new information/gain of complexity/abiogenesis/evolution/new anatomy. These facts prove that something or someone placed and established our INITIAL MATTER & ENERGY before it started to dissipate/decay in disorder. But THAT is what we observe and have observed for thousands of yrs - including our universe that’s expanding/decaying in disorder INCREASINGLY.
THEREFORE, that "cause" of this DYING WORLD is required to be NON-DYING/INFINITE/ETERNAL/SUPERNATURAL, because this DYING WORLD can’t be forever cause by just more DYING MATTER. And since the creator & creation didn't exist together at one point, the creator isn't part of the FINITE NATURE (time/space/matter/energy) that’s created; thus, the creator is beginningless, changeless, immaterial, timeless, spaceless and enormously powerful.

As an atheist, I can say my decision was evidence based, no religion can provide me with enough evidence to convince me of gods existence and that is why I don't believe
I also don't believe there's enough evidence to convince me that there's a god. However, from what I've read about that guy, I'm also of the opinion that even if I did believe he existed, I would not want to worship him. I wouldn't even like him - he's vile.

As an MMJ patient (and pothead, let’s be real), I never understood this. I’ve had some wicked highs, but it’s not a hallucinogen. I’ve never heard disembodied voices, seen angels, spoke to Jesus, etc. and I might suggest that if you *have* that you should see a doctor or talk to your dealer/budtender about what they sold you.

Forrest has ZERO ANSWERS. Evolution states that all 9 million different species of life came from an amoeba type species. That simply can't happen for many reasons. Entropy, for one. As a person who never grew up religious, and only understood later on in life that I was an atheist at all, I sometimes feel that from my perspective this question gets things in the wrong order. I'm admittedly biased, but it makes more sense to me for an atheist to ask a theist why they believe in God. My reasons for not believing in any of the God claims presented to me so far in life seems fairly obvious. Am I off here? Given that I'm essentially a free agent in the marketplace of religious ideas why should I take one faith's claims more or less seriously than another faith?
