Small towns are dying. They were once the heart of America...such a shame.
They were never the heart of anything....they were and are just small towns.... Hearts produce goods and services people need which small towns never did hence why they die
The population of America became majority city dwellers in 1900. Rual areas have been slowly dying for the last 124 years. As their population leaves only the elderly stay and as they die the towns get smaller and smaller .
@@jollyjohnthepirate3168 yes, even my state of Texas most people do not realize we are basically more urban than rural. We have gigantic urban areas where most of the population lives.
Well... America is dying, so go figure.
Good these small towns suck and always did.
Hi there, I'm watching it at home in London, UK. It is absolutely a breathtaking road trip and so many contrasting and different landscapes, cities and towns to see along the roadsides. Thanks for sharing with us. The Drury inns are so beautiful and clean as well
You should visit the western US. Go see Mesa Verde national park
Absolutely loved the accompanying music.
At 9:07 entering Tucumcari on old 66, couldn't help wondering what it was like when my dad as a teen with his large family in a Packard touring car on their way to visit California in the mid 1920s on the 'new' 66 were in the same spot. What a relief to stop, stretch, and maybe a cold soda pop after hours of 35 mph dirt road... Many buildings that are now ruins weren't even built yet.
As someone from Europe, I am continously amazed by the awesome and immense beauty of your vast country. And the way you guys portray it, without any words, just letting the images speak for themselves on these road trips. Love it ❤
Keep doing what you're doing 👍
Thank you!
Seeing this made me so happy. In 1980 as a 23 year old from Australia, I caught a bus from Flagstaff all the way to Buffalo N.Y. in winter. Thanks Joe and Nick for letting me relive some of that experience. Background music was perfect. Your videos are amazing, thanks!
I have cousins in Buffalo. Was there a couple years ago 😁😎
Passengers on the bus were calling Buffalo an excuse for a city and were very disparaging.I was going through to Niagra so did not see Buffalo at the time.@@johngalanti1010
Thanks for taking us along!
You bet!
What a great video! Love the driving segments with the background music. Looking forward to following you on your upcoming adventures!
Thanks so much!
I like this video, it reminds me of your older ones when y'all first started with background music. Sets the mood 👍
I did not know that he had done background music in the past. I have always listened for and enjoyed his excellent narration, demographic details and other comments.... I actually thought he was in YT jail for some mysterious reason and YT put the music in to block the narration.
I'm from the UK, I drove from New Orleans to Dallas, Amarillo , seen the Cadillac ranch. Lubbock (Buddy Holy), San Antonio, Galveston and back to New Orleans . Loved every min 2600 miles in 12 days , and all in a Dodge Charger just brill.
Nice!!
Need more New Mexico. Great video as always
As a Spaniard, so proud of our legacy there. Look at those names of towns, rivers, mountains! Congrats on your channel!
Thank you!
I have been through this area so many times I can tell you our little kid we went cross-country and then by myself twice then hike the Grand Canyon but I love your video. You guys had made a lot of progress over the years. I have to tell you guys you’re doing a great job. Keep it up.
Thank you!
The perfect musical accompaniment to the driving sequences!
Hello from N Ireland .❤the video. Looking forward to next video.
I like your music. Relaxing.
Appreciate that you always add the temperature in Celsius!
Another comment is that I saw some JB Hunt cars on one of the trains you passed. On these cars was the word "intermodal". What that means is that JB Hunt is picking up items from the factory or port by truck. Then the long haul shipping is done by train. The delivery is again done via truck. As this gets large trucks off the road and as trains are much more fuel efficient than large trucks, I think this is a very good idea. Intermodal shipping also reduces the risk of fatal accidents and wear and tear on the roads.
Cool was wondering what that meant also.
Thanks for the info Jody.
The music rocks on this video.
This video had a different feel to it and I loved it. What a nice change of pace. You are not getting older your getting better. Sincerely, Jim Thornton
Not crazy about the new format. I really liked all the info and research about each town.
I just came here to make the same comment! I’m so bummed out about all this music and he removed the small talk. I assume it’s easier for him. Not nearly as enjoyable.
As a retired truck driver I have to say 287 was my favorite drive. We drove it many times over the years.
00:00 to 05:38 Wow! What a road trip!!
We have been sorting through your videos for a couple of months now, and we really like how you present the places you guys visit.
My husband and I have been to many of the same locations.
We enjoy our road trips across the US...as we like yours also.
👋🤗✌️
Awesome, thank you!
What a wonderful journey through plains of Texas and New mexico. Beautiful music alla long.
Thankyou.
Thanks for taking me with you.
Any time!
Sad to see Tucumcari in such a poor state. I stayed there one night on my way from northern California to Little Rock. in 68, driving on Rought 66. It used to be very nice. My cousin's widow has moved from Fresno to Albuquerque to be closer to her daughter her husband and the grandkids. She says the crime rate is very high there. I'm glad you stopped in Winslow to show the "Flatbed Ford."
Don't forget the cats!
Right!
Okay...SHALL WE..!
Lets!
Yes, that very song popped into my head before anything else, when I seen Winslow on the screen!!
As soon as I saw the mountains it was home for me. Miss the West. Great trip. What a diverse and beautiful country we have. ❤
Great video and format but also enjoyed the other format too. Thank you both so much.
I think I prefer Joe's play-by-play narration over the music.
That's not going away. For this long trip, I wanted to show what the areas in-between the cities and towns look like. So there'll be a couple videos like this one, but most will be the normal format.
Have driven that road b/w Wichita Falls and Denver more times than I can count for winter skiing. Clarendon, Claude, Ding dong daddy from Dumas, Dalhart, Texline, Clayton, Raton, Trinidad, etc. The drive through New Mexico has breath taking, open-country vistas, w/ plateaus and bluffs that you can envision early Americans on horse-back traversing. As long and arduous as that drive is, sometimes in the wee hours of the morning, I always look fwd to the adventure circumnavigating winter storms and road closures and taking in the vast open plain, range and wildlife.😊
Was literally waiting for a vid to drop!!! Thanks guys!
me too 😁I am always looking forward to their new trips. ❤
You also visited 2 other cities in this video made famous by songs Amarillo (Neil Sedaka) and Tucumcari (Little Feat -Willin)
Thanks for the temps, we like.
Loving the way this episode starts out!!! ❤❤
Ive stoped at clines corner many times...iconic spot
Your comment on Bucees made me laugh. The first time visiting one, I was in awe of the restroom. Also a big thumbs up on standing on the corner in Winslow AZ.
Thank you Joe, amazing video 👌
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST 🎯🎯
Thank you!! :)
I took my first ever Roadtrip last year when I moved from Michigan to AZ that was a once in a lifetime adventure and road trip for me I love your videos and roadtrips 👍👏
Missed the music. Thank you always, great video!!!!
Wonderful!! 😊 Embroidering a project. Easy to listen to you as I go and make progress. 😉 Nice you are showcasing 'these little places' on your journeys. Hugz to you both!! 🎉
when I was driving OTR always stopped at Clines corner great place. And driving the 287 out of Dallas sure brought back a lot of good memories have safe travels may the road rise to meet you and the wind at your back
1:56 "With them windshield wipers slappin time..."
I was thinking of the song Me & Bobby McGee with the soundtrack going here in the rain. The wipers were little off-time however!☺
Love it when I see y'alls video at the top of my screen this morning! Safe travels Nic & Joe!!
Awesome trip! My Dad was in the Air Force in the 1960s and he was stationed at Wichita Falls. TX. He also recreated at Lake Texoma. I’m an old millennial. Still RELATIVELY young, but getting older. Right in the median USA age range.
I noticed you had added some beautiful music! Sounds grreat. Most definitely, this is some chill music. 😎👍
Once the drum kicked in. I started putting on the sub woofer. Just blasting this music. If you have more like this, it's definitely a nice addition to the channel. I keep adding more to my comment, but I definitely love how there's no pause to the beat. It just goes through your journey. Definitely enjoyed the editing you did here!!!
Thank you!
I enjoy all your videos, especially seeing the country side of Texas on this one...I'm reminded that, pretty soon, it will be a time to see the blue bonnets by the side of the road...How beautiful it is to experience it, while driving by...Have a safe and happy trip....Keep up the good work! Thank you very much.
No bluebonnets in the panhandle of Texas. Remember that it is a very large state with many climate regions.
@@StewieGriffin505You are so right!. Texas is indeed big, with such varied topography, fauna, and so on...I just got excited thinking of my travels through Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, etc. Thanks....
Enjoyed. Music was Kool too. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome, I drove most of that route back in 2015. Hired an Attorney out of Gallup...
Darealdeal
Loving the new format as well. Keep em coming❤
That is so Kool ! Thank you for sharing the wonderful Eagles tribute!
Thanks 👍
Very good video. We just took a similar trip in January, but via I-10(we live near Austin). We went to the Quartzite, AZ gem and mineral show. The towns we visited were Balmorhea(including the Texas state park), Van Horn, El Paso, Las Cruces, Lordsburg, Deming, Bisbee(side trip), Tuscon, and Phoenix. As to gas prices, we stayed one night in Blythe, CA. Gas prices are $1 higher in CA than AZ. The saddest sight on the whole trip is the devastation caused by oak wilt west of Fredericksburg, Texas.
Thanks, this video reminds me of summer vacations with my Dad and brother. Circa 1967 from northern mass to back road America. Best road trips.
You are really great at showing us how it really is.
Loved this format. For someone who has never been to that part of the country it was interesting to watch the scenery. If I may I would prefer to hear you speaking over the music. You always have interesting information to share.
Good travelin’ music!
Thank you for educating us about the different cities in the US.
I love you staying off most interstate freeways.😃
I guess I commented too soon.😱
Sad too see the devastation, but I enjoy watching your travels.Good to see more of Nicole in the videos shows she is healthy and enjoying travels.
I like the new format! Nice change. Happy travels, you two!
I will still be doing regular videos as well. :)
Old Route 66 had so many quaint small-towns. Interstate 40 bypassed them and no one stops at those little towns anymore. You can still drive on much of Route 66. Just gotta drice a lot slower and its a lot bumpier.
Great video! This reminded me of when you first sold your home and took off on the road. I love road trips like this with cool music. It was also a good deviation. Love the sights, stops, food, people and hotels. I’ve always loved road trips as long as I was not driving. LOL. Thanks and fun travels.
Thanks!!
Nothin wrong flippin the script every once in a while.
Wow! How can you pass by and not stop at the “Quality Junk” place in Clarendon TX. 😊 Have you already made a video of that town?? It’s good to see you guy’s home from “vacation” and back at work.
I made a mental note to visit in the future. :)
Yes me too, I'm a sucker for "Quality Junk" :) safe travels @@JoeandNicsRoadTrip
This video is like a trip on a train. I like it.
Really enjoying the drive part of this! I drive this route frequently but I’m enjoying seeing it again. Safe travels
My wife and I live in England and really enjoy seeing your travels.
I'd love to visit the states and drive route 66,thats been a dream of mine for many years.
You guys have excelled yourselves with this video. I'm enjoying " travelling" with you. G'Day from Australia.
Awesome! Thank you!
Love this trip, just imagine lying on my couch after a hard days work, enjoying a nice trip viewing your country, just by looking over your shoulder. Please go on.
Absolutely!
I love the music
Whoa! music in a video? This must be a special occasion? Next your gonna try and amaze me with drone footage again.
Liked the vidjeeyah.
That was really good, I really enjoyed the ride with you guys. Watching from a very cold, very grey, very damp Wales UK.
Great job editing this video together ! Differrent than your normal format a little, but I like it. The good music helps me daydream about being there.
Sad places on the way.
You missed the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo! We were stationed in Clovis NM for a while and made a few trips to the Big Texan. I love your videos of the small towns. I’m glad someone is documenting the America that is disappearing 😊.
I love that some of you're videos have music . it's jus me the music and you driving😊
NICE TUNES good road trip 👍👍👍
Can’t convince me small towns aren’t dying by design
It is nice that Joe and Nic came up with new ideas in doing their travel logs . I hope one of you does the driving and the one does the vids . By the way the Bradford Pear trees are pretty with their blooms come out in the early spring but I live hear one and they area a mess when blooms die and fall away . Happy trails to you , as Roy Rogers and Dale Evans used to say .
Really looking forward to joining you in spirit on this new adventure :)
I have a few videos to catch up on. But I hope the formats not changing moving forward. I miss the small talk including the town history and stats vs this music overlay. 😢
LOVE your videos! Spent Basic Training in Amarillo, TX in 1966! Base no longer exists but then it had B-52 Bombers with Hydrogen Weapons aboard and I still remember Sergeant Mechanic pointing to them (and the guards with Shoot to Kill Orders_---and saying if you must go AWOL run to the West and NOT toward the Flight Line!
Love the maps you keep putting up. Help to show where you are, Thanks
Absolutely.
Literally can't wait until you get to the Pacific Northwest. Been watching for over a year anticipating the day you head out there. But I always love the Western content too.
Wow! Change of Pace! I enjoyed this one 🤔 “Movin’ on Down the Line” “Take It Easy” 🎸🎶
just like I'm driving the road🎠 . I❤ Joe+Nic drive safely~ 🐶🐈
I've been to all 254 counties in Texas. I've taken pics of all the county seats. Walked through towns, photographing anything of note. I have waded in the Rio Grande. I have been to all that area that had the wild fires. Have pics of all that land. Hey Joe, check out Medicine Mound next time you visit. Cool features and an old ghost town. In Quanah, there is a nice couple that runs a restaurant called the Medicine Mound Depot. Their building is half the old Quanah Depot and half the old Medicine Mound Depot. Wild stuff.
Love the western scenery, well done. Glad you stop long enough to say a few interesting tidbits about each area. Thanks to both of you!
It amazing how much changes over the years in some of these towns. Used to have family in Flaggstaff but they moved a few years back. It was nice look out the front window see snowy mountains then go to the back door and see the desert. Loved it, you got both views. Have a great day and safe travels
This is really well done. You folks did a get job. Couple of times I felt as though I was riding with you.
Cool, that's the idea. :)
Speaking of singing on RUclips and copyright law, SNL made a great skit joke about that recently. Adrianna Grande sang with a cast member, singing together like Moulin Rouge. They kept singing "Happy Birthday to You", I think because of some crazy copyright law regarding that famous, universally known song.
Welcome to flagstaff!!
My hometown
Good luck on your new journey of discovery 👍😁
Thank you so much! Beautiful job!!
Thank you! 😊
OMG, Tucumcari (classic Train station), and in a Little Feat song, One of Lowell Georges' best singing. and we all know the Eagles and Winslow. Awesome route.
Been on I-40 from OKC to Flagstaff. You need to stop in Albuquerque during October and go to the Balloon Festival. It’s great to see all the amazing Balloons.
I was raised in Houck,AZ pretty awesome seeing Fort Courage🙌
Love the format for this video, dug on the music as well. like to see and hear more like this one.
Gonna be a mix of video styles on this trip. I want to show people what the places look like in-between the towns and cities we'll be visiting. :)
hi i love the back round music..and i said hi to debbie last time..i meant nic lol. thx.
