Something I'd be interested in, would be watching the trains in Winslow at the LaPosada hotel. It's an old Harvey house hotel, and Resaurant.
The book, Appetite for America, is a great read on Harvey Hotel chain. Amazing what they provided for travelers in that era.
Such a fine sight to see.
Take it easy Russ. Standing on the Corner Winslow, Az. Thanks for Sharing Russ!
Check It Out. Can't wait to Stand On the Corner in Winslow Arizona with RVerTV Russ😎, just to see who might drive by. TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL 👍
The two statues are Glenn Frey (long hair) and Jackson Browne who co-wrote the song that the band The Eagles made popular 50 years ago. Yes it was 50 years ago can you believe it! How time flies! Thanks Russ for taking us to Winslow to stand on that corner with you!
@@sarahgrace151 Hey Russ , is this a new channel ? Not sure what’s going on but I hit the subscribe button to see what happens.
That is on my bucket list.
Takin it easy standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona! I remember that Eagles song Taking it Easy from long ago in 1972!
I always thought the lyrics were "a flat head Ford" or something and my imagination pictured a woman driving a black GTO or a Fairlane, because I also heard flat as black.
Agree, history definitely needs to be preserved. Love to see Main streets restored and kept alive. That's an interesting place. 🙂👍
Hey Russ...Take it Easy....
Thank you for taking me along. With gas prices so high I will never get a chance to come see it my self.
Dont forget the awesome movie Starman. Best acting by Jeff Bridges.
Too cool for school thank you
We loved Winslow! Had breakfast at the Flatbed Cafe!👍
I want a souvenir penny from the shop across the street 🙋♂ Thanks for stopping and the video.
Yes. Too cool for school. And Winslow is kept up so well downtown - gotta go there! Thanks so much, Russ.
Thanks for the memories. I'M back on the family farm , in southern Illinois. Go up in the Arch in St. Louis. if you are coming this far.
Went through Winslow, Az in June 1962 on my way to Sawmill, AZ. All I remember was how hot it was.
I spent ten years of my career at UPS driving cross country. Sleeper team two man operation, one drives while the other sleeps. We ran L.A. to Greensboro NC and back in 3.5 days. The first shift was L.A. to Winslow. We used to get off there at the McDonalds and there was a great little family run Mexican restaurant across the street, great burritos. I never got to see "the Corner", the streets are too narrow to get a big rig down there and no where to park one. A couple years ago I took a road trip all thru northern AZ and up into CO. So I finally got to stand there and it was great.
I have never NOT stopped in Winslow.. dozens of times !!! all you need.
Great stuff, I enjoyed standing on that corner and singing the song.
Say hi to Tommy Dukes. He's an outstanding blues player that sometimes sits at the intersection playing guitar and singing. I pulled out my harmonicas and jammed with him for about 45 minutes. What a good time!
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me....
Still love the Eagles cant stop hearing them!
Awesome video!!! Thank you, Russ...
When in Winslow you need to stop at the train station you will fall in love with it they are restoring it in a great fashion
YES, enjoyed Winslow but at 17:07, Russ, you walked right by the fabulous LA POSADA 🪅 HOTEL, with great 👍 history as a former Harvey House. There’s lovely furniture, artwork throughout and you don’t have to stay there to tour the grounds.
Very cool! Thanks Russ!!!
Great video. Man, beautiful area.
Love it. I was there a few Months ago. Had to get my picture taken with glen Frey my favorite eagle. There was also a 911 memorial you passed by.
Do up Tucumcari. I used to stay at the Lasso Motel. Now it's gone , just the concrete slabs remain. 1 or 2 for 10 bucks a night. I have an old matchbook from the Lasso. Don't forget to get video of the world famous Blue Swallow Motel. I think it is still open. Thanks for your videos.
"Take it Easy"! I saw the Eagles last Friday June 17 in Arnhem Netherlands. Was the 11th time for me, so I went to Winzlow in March 2019, I'm a big Eagle fan! I love it!
Roger Smith to each his own!
Hi Russ stay cool 😎
Took the Amtrak Southwest Chief from Chicago to Winslow just to stand on the corner then jumped back on the train that evening. Awesome little stop.
My first stop in Arizona in 2018!!! Love the group !!!!
I live in Arizona and I didn’t know them statues were even there! Thank you.
"Take It Easy, Take It Easy...." Great video clip in Winslow! Thanx for sharing!
Thanks for another neat stop. Remember the song well. 😊 It seems that Arizona is chucked full of things to see.
Was there about 8 months ago; great historic town; thank you
😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👌
Hi Russ .I visited Winslow with my parents in 2015.we have a photo taken with the statue. What a great trip it was!Thankyou for taking me down memory lane!
Thank u for the cool visit to the corner in Winslow! Take it easy! That was awesome on a terrific day for stopping. Loved it.

Winslow is one of my favorite Arizona towns! There is just so much 1960’s nostalgia there.
Thanks for stopping and videotaping, I have always wanted to see that I'm definitely gonna make a trip down there . I really enjoyed the video. thanks Russ.
Very cool, can't wait for the video 👍
I can’t believe you parked RIGHT IN FRONT of La Posada Hotel and didn’t go inside. You missed out on something very special there. It’s meticulously restored Harvey House, with a museum in the back against the tracks where Amtrak picks up and drops off passengers… right there at the hotel. You could’ve had lunch or dinner at the famous Turquoise Room.
Maybe next time, eh?
That's really awesome this tents and everything
You talked me into it im going to take a 2 week vacation in Winslow and see everything the town has to offer
Awesome
Jackson Browne wrote that song with the help of Glenn Frey. Famous before the Eagles sang it
The Eagles were the band backing Linda Ronstadt before they got famous.
Thanks Russ! Makes me want nachos and a Margarita on a deck, in the shade!
One day 4 sure. Been on 40 through AZ, a lot trucking OTR. One day I'll Take it easy 😌🙏. Thanks very much 👍. Blessings always.
I can knock Winslow Arizona off my bucket list since I saw it on RVerTV
Russ
Your the man brother.Ifound your channel by chance and I am great full that I did, don’t get around much anymore due to age and physical limitations but

So glad you finally got to check out Winslow. I always stop on every trip to see family in the South. Everyone should experience Standing on the Corner in Winslow, Arizona. Safe travels!
Very Cool
Kool!!!!!
I enjoyed Winslow last May on a trip out West from KY. Also visited the Crater, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, and camped at Homolovi State Park. What an awesome trip it was! Ate some amazing Mexican food! Enjoy your travels!
Hi Russ! We've stayed at Mc Hood Park before, when it was free!! Standing on the Corner was fun!!! Keepin' that history alive!!!
Love your videos!!!
But it is a dry heat Russ. At least that is what they always told me when I lived out there. You say you drove past Windslow, AZ many times in the past. Just goes to show in our younger days we are always in a hurry. As we get older we learn to slow down and smell the roses. I am glad you slowed down now and allow us to ride along with you to some very special places. Stay safe my friend and keep the van between the ditches.
I remember it from many years ago - late 60's and early 70's...
Thanks Russ,u da man.🗽👍
YAY!
Thank you Russ, you make me feel like I'm riding shotgun with you.
You were saving the Winslow stop for me, lol.
Very cool. We went to check out Winslow um about 15 yrs ago. The store with the cowboy in the front was motion activated and welcomed you to Winslow. That was pretty cool. Yep Arizona does it's best to keep route 66 Alive and doing a great job at it, I think. Thanks for sharing Russ. Looking forward to your next stop
Looks like a fun stop. Thanks for the tip! I think we may be "Standing on the corner" someday there.
Thanks for taking your viewers to see an Eagles iconic location in Winslow, Az. Yes, really too cool for school. You stay cool, too, Russ!
Yess!! You went and did it! Amazing episode. Eagles man. Thanks, I needed this.
cool!
My Dad was a cowboy for the ranch that owns the Crater. Mom ran the gift store and visitor center. If you look off to the south you will see the Niniger Visitor center and tower. That's where we lived. Arizona suggested that the ranch give the site to the state. Ranch owners said sure, pay us for all the improvements we did.... That was the end of that
We are on a 14 state tour and was on that corner last month. I told my wife we had to go see it and get our picture there. If you didn't see the Meteor Crater it is worth seeing, we stayed at the park just off I-40
I missed "the corner" in your original stream by a minute or two ... Now I saw it with the "Route 66" sign imbedded in the asphalt. AWESOME ! You should check "Homolovi State Park" if you continue Eastward on Interstate-40 towards Petrified Forest. The Park is a couple of miles North of the Interstate and the campground is mostly empty. Nice place to stop overnight. RICHARD
That really was cool.😎. Think I must go to Arizona to see the places don't remember. Winslow is beautiful little town.
Yes please to Petrified Forest....do remember!😊😳🎶. Thank you.
You should go to Canyon de Chelly
Been to Winslow couple of times. Iconic. Will be traveling R-66 in NM in 12 days. Tucumcari photo tour on tap. :-)
Same as you Russ never visited Winslow but definitely will next visit. Great town and yes someone needs to keep history alive. Once it’s gone it’s gone. Great video today, l can never get enough of 66. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Great video Russ!
Staying local, saving gas and still seeing great history is a win win 🏆 Thanks, Russ, will be coming your way next September, see ya 😊 Mike
*Loved this!* 🙂👍
Oh! You should check out the Harvey Hotel in Winslow...talk about railroad history! The Harvey Girls!!!
One of the books on Route 66 tells about La Posada hotel in Winslow. We stayed there on a trip to the Grand Canyon - very interesting history with its designer and the connection to the railroad.
yes. would stay in a wig wam too.
looks like some are missing.
love Winslow, Az.
love that town. so much to see and do there.
I play guitar...was in a small country/rock band back in the 80's... we/I sang this song. Now in my 60's, this IS a bucket list destination. I will travel there someday with my guitar and take my video. Thanks for the virtual tour. (you sound like Tom Bodett from Motel 6 spots)
THAT WAS GREAT ⭐️ I also have been thru Winslow but not to stop except for gas ⛽️ I will def go up soon and check it out ~ so thx for sharing this part of your journey and especially seeing the great statue of The song from the Eagles and the statue is Glenn Frey who sang it and Tribute to Jackson Browne who wrote it !! Great song and tribute . How is that for cool 😎
Look fwd to your next stop 🛑 !
Awesome video… Thanks!
Really glad you stopped there! Even that old pit stop . Wonder what bit of modern technology mixed with restoration could provide
Again Russ.. thanks again for another great video…I’ve been on Route 66 before. But never been here…Sure do appreciate all your videos!!!
Hello Russ, glad to see your back on the road. Route 66 is really iconic. I have been on sections of it in AZ, NM, and Texas. I've been to Petrified Forest too. Gallup is another really cool section of Route 66. OUTSTANDING VIDEO RUSS👍👍👍👍!
Hi Russ. Another great trip through history. Thanks for taking us along with you.
Take it easy by Glenn Frey released 1972-
50 years ago
👍👍take it easy👍👍
What a pretty iconic corner in Winslow Arizona you and I must be about the same age Russ. I was probably about I don't know 17 maybe I remember being in my mother's kitchen helping her clean up and the song was on the radio yeah and I couldn't understand it said I thought it said there's there's a girl my Lord on a flap I couldn't hear what I understand what it said flatbed Ford I think it was slowing down to take a look at me or something but I remember thinking how cool it sounded to go travel somewhere. Amazing all these years later and I still have people taking pictures at the same spot.
Thanks for all the videos. You remind me of my father whos been gone for 15 years. Thanks for all the content. Safe travels
Ole was standing on the corner in Winslow az cool thanks Russ.
A heat advisory in Arizona? Shocking! Is Route 66 a historical landmark from IL to CA? It should be, and rebuilt where at all possible to provide a singular well paved historical tourist road trip. It’s an event! Get on this, Joe!
I was there probably 6 years ago and thought it ws cool. We based out of Flagstaff and went to Winslow, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Sunset Crater, Lowell Observatory, Flagstaff Farmers Market, Meteor Crater and other local places. It was a great week and I have photos of my wife and I standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona. I highly recommend spending a week in this area. By the way we ate at the La Posada Hotel and watched the trains go by as well.
was there back in 2018...great to see it again in your video Russ! btw ate one of the best Burgers ever in the " RelicRoad Brewery Company" on the other side of the street! Safe travels Russ, greets from europe
So cool, we drove from Flagstaff just to do this.
Where that little park is behind the wall used to be a store that burned down about 2003. If you go down the block on the other side of the street from the statue is a history museum that is free has lots of local history. I live in Winslow and have seen people from many different parts of the world at the corner.
Thanks for the videos ' been stuck there ' Pickup broke down in the 70's going to Texas.
The other song ... "Standin' on the corner, watching all the girls go by. Standin' on the corner givin' all the girls the 'eye'. " Late 50's hit (I think)...sung by The Four Lads.
Since you mentioned this in the last video I've had that song stuck in my head 🤣🤣
