Your coach went his whole life ashamed of a very fine cartwheel.

Imagine working at an all-you-can-eat buffet and these guys pull up
Some all-you-can-eat restaurants ban such sport clubs because they gettin' broke letting them in.
😅
Has happened at a sushi restaurant or two lol
Goes from all-you-can-eat to can-you-eat-all
On Hell's kitchen show, they catered to 4 Sumo wrestlers and each one ordered the menu
Man, the Sumo videos are always fantastic! I have gained SO MUCH respect for Sumo wrestlers from these videos, it's crazy. I respect all martial artists, but until this channel displayed it, I was completely unaware of how athletic and flexible you have to be to compete in Sumo.
i knew a japanese sumo and i can say they are extremely atletic, the " fat" is an " armor" but they need extrem muscles power en precise technique upon that, but what he said is right about sumo " it's a sprint not a race!" with sumo matchs they are short but intensive they have extremely hight strength and technic but they need ( for the heavy part of the sumo) to use every things to move their weight so it's short! but believe in me in a short one one one match against a sumo that will be hell for their oponent it's just with their intensive use of their muscles in a short time + their weight they will tire up quicker!
And one more thing, sumo have weight category, for exemple i thing the atletic black guy for his way to fighting in in one of the low weight categories
same. When he reiterated what most people think about sumo it exactly matched my opinion about them before Seth showing what it actually is.
Yup. Contrary to what is commonly thought, being obese doesn't mean you are not athletic and strong. You can be both.
That said, being so strong AND big/heavy, doing those explosive feats day in and out can really do a number on your joints and tendons.
It’s so cool that one of the fun “let me try this random martial art” videos turned into a serious love of and participation in sumo!
Love these sumo video.
Plus he ended up being surprisingly good at it. After all Seth never been known for his good combat ability just his love for the craft.
In my defense, all my character points were put into athleticism, not accurate measurement 😂
😂😂😂
Hey buddy, you are freakishly athletic, why did you want to do sumo? and is it like a side gig for you while you do other sports?
@@user-tw4jg7nh6s I have a folkstyle wrestling background so sumo had me curious to try it out. It's now my only sport and I do it because it's awesome (maybe even the best sport of them all).
Dude, you completely missed the meta, it's EITHER Strength main OR Dexterity main, there's no Quality-build like in Dark Souls bruh xD
for one who is often a stickler for such things, in this environment and approach to the whole thing, it truly doesn't matter
funtimes, you guys seem like a warm place to be
I like when sumo is shown not as a strict hierarchy, but as a fun sport.
That's how the entire amateur Sumo community is! It's one of the reasons that I've stuck with Sumo for so long!
the strict hierarchy is what I like lol
@@joatanpereira4272 it's okay... but sometimes we need to see the other side.
Shoutout to Allan and his Bakugan shirt, man is a real one
Thanks man appreciate another Bakugan brawler
@@Alan-zf7ok love your spirit
A combat sport where you can eat like a king as well. My kind of sport.

Challenge for sumo players, I remember long ago in one Japanese variety show, they were challenged to imitate Japanese idol's dance sequence. Some of them did very great, even the idols were surprised!!
So how about challenging your sumo partners to dance like k-pop LoL
Some sumotori are great singers and some former sumotori has become "talents" in Japan, like Konishiki, who was huge no matter how you see him. :D
I really like Eric. He seems like such a kind and gentle soul, but at the same time he's very intimidating. I'd not want to face off with him. 😬 All these sumo related videos have really begun to open my eyes into the interesting world of sumo. This is an interesting journey you've embarked upon, Seth, and thank you taking us along for the ride!
Also, good luck at worlds! 😁
Eric is very intense on the dohyo ... off of it he is incredibly supportive.
It’s really cool that you made this video to showcase everyone else at Raijin Sumo and how you’re not the only one full of surprises. This was a brilliant idea, looked like a lot of fun, and really came together well. Also, good luck at worlds!
Duuuuuude! Alright! After seeing this badass video with all of my friends, and realizing we know the same folks in the Sumo World, you gotta let us interview you! I'll hit you up later!
Man, this whole video gave me the WORST FOMO! The Raijin camp looked so fun!!! Sabrina and I were planning to attend, but we had just moved to another city and we were broke!
And look at Edo throwing salt in your jumping game! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
We saving you guys a spot at the next one lol
@@raijinsumoclub9986 Oh hell yes!!!! 💜🔥💪🏽
I lost it when the one guy failed the ladder drill and punished himself with pushups
Hey sensei Seth! I'm here again to ask u to do a kendo episode!!! I will ask every video till the end of time till u finally do it. Also I love all ur sumo videos 😊
All kiding aside, I watch a lot of martial art videos, I'm a bit of a nerd. These Sumo videos are the only ones that make me consider getting back into it. Not sure at 51 if my body would allow it.
These guys give off such positive vibes. Seems like a great sport/ community to be part of.
I love how every look into these various martial arts disciplines on this channel is a look at a whole world and subculture I never would have thought existed
This guys look wso intimidating and strong, yet so freaking friendly. Like true gentle giants. Gentle giants that can do acrobatics and push mountains
Sumo is my new favourite sport to watch wishing I discovered it young enough to consider going for it, it's a lifestyle over there
Seth doing more for Sumo’s PR than the entire nation of Japan for decades
They used to show it on regular tv here in the UK
I'm certain if Japan Sumo Federation (or whatever is biggest organization of sumo there) would hire Masamune Shirow to make thousand-page manga about aspiring sumotori becoming a yokozuna it might sell a lot.
@@vksasdgaming9472 JSA (Japan Sumo Association) doesn't give a damn about promotion the sport to the world... they don't even care about health care of rikishi.
@@teo_heel Seems quite typical Japanese thing of not wanting to share anything culturally. They have adopted baseball, pro-wrestling, whisky and boxing yet get upset of someone else doing sumo.
@@vksasdgaming9472 They even have a rule that only one foreigner can be in the heya. There're exceptions to that rule, like when to heyas merge or some other things like foreigner becoming Japanese citizen to get around the rule and open a spot for a potential newcomer... and there's a reason for that, not a lot of Japanese youngsters want to do sumo these days.
Why are Sumo Seth videos so good? Good luck at worlds, wrestlers!
Can always count on Seth on bringing light to some maybe lesser known M.A communities. These sumo ones have been some of my favs.
I say it everytime, but I love that you keep up with the sumo stuff.
That round-off deserves extra credit.
Another coincidentally timed upload Seth! The Aki Basho is about to start today at ~5:00 PST. Wishing the team all the best luck when world comes around!
Yay!! Your sumo content is my favorite! 🧡
These guys are some great athletes. Awesome video.
I love Sumo. I wish there was more of it across Canada. By the looks of things, we got one team on the east, and thats about it.
All of these guys are amazing athletes
I think SethxSumo vids are becoming our favorite series in this channel 😁
Ive been watching you for awhile now and your genuinely a great RUclipsr don't know if you like that term but whatever your awesome and so are your videos hopefully you get the channel growth like you deserve (same for icy Mike hard2hurt)
I really like this vid. Would love to see a compilation all the martial artist you know and do just athletic endeavors. From boxing, BJJ, capoeira, Muy Thai, sumo, karate, etc. Do calculations and metrics to see the similarities and differences.
There are some freakish athletes there. It looked super fun.
I am loving the sumo content mate, thanks for making these great videos!
Love the sumo content! Highly underrated sport. Amazing to watch and you are doing great Seth keep up the good work! From one Kempo guy to another!
Thank you so much for showing Sumo properly! As you said it's probably the least respected Martial Art in the west but it's so cool.
Also nice to see those people who might be easily stamped off as "fat" somewhere else, be shown to be really damn athletic people.
A lot of Western thinking is really narrow but we are working on broadening it and you are doing your part in that! Thank you for that!
Really captured the vibe of the camp, awesome! Same time next year?
Yes! Love the sumo videos! You're a sumo phenom, look at you smashing! such a lovely community
Sumo is important because American Folkstyle Wrestling has a weight limit of 285lbs, so those who want to Wrestle & weigh more can compete in Sumo or other tradition Wrestling styles without weight limits instead.
Sensei Seth? More like Sumo Seth! Great job bringing more eyes to the sport.
Love it Seth. And love that you're bringing way more light and attention to the world of sumo. For all who are traveling soon, good luck at Worlds.
I love these kinds of videos that also show the community rather than just the art itself!
Good luck at worlds!
Yes! Sumotori are as strong as powerlifers, with extra pading.
And a lot of pro sumo are very flexibel.
And as quick as charging bulls.
Look at the "skinny guys" in this vid.
Still muscular. 💪
Did the sumo crew grow?
Much more people this time. 😊
Wow absolutely fantastic. I never thought Sensei Seth would be such a leader in promoting sumo but I am here for it, these athletes have always deserved so much more respect outside of Japan. Love to see it!
Yes more Sumo
Big Respect for everyone in the video
Sumo videos are honestly your best. Love them.
Great video, as always!
I’m more amazed by the fact that you got a whole Sumo team to participate in your shenanigans. And really enjoyed it too.
hoping we get to see you compete at worlds!
Im loving this sumo content
Dope to see the video!!!
Good luck at worlds! 💪🔥
man i want to start doing sumo now, this seems awesome. good luck at worlds!
Find a local club and try it out!
Hey, I love all yours sumo videos and they are the best content
Sumo is so awesome, it's great you're giving it exposure in the west.
I said hi to Kevin Lee in his comment section because he posted today and he said yo. Now I’m gonna say hi yo Sensei Seth and hope he says yo too
Good Luck at the Worlds! You got this!
Became a Sumo fan like a year ago, and i fucking love it now. But it was hard to find initially, i know this isn't a hardcore sumo vid but i do think it's important to have videos like this exposing people and piqueing (is that a word?) Interests
It's a good day when Seth posts sumo content
I think sumo is Seth's late calling. Sure, karate was his center focus, but it seems like he's taking an extended interest in sumo.
When I saw the small guy, I understood immediately. That's the body you get when all of your opponents are 2 to 3 times bigger than you, so you have to have. Pure explosive power to protect against to redirect. I have quite a bit more weight on me now. But when I was training regularly. Everybody that I was paired with was twice my weight. And like the only exceptions were people younger than me. So when we went full contact, I had to do a lot more to not be flung around. I learned to do a lot of check kicks (low sidekicks) and for me they were ways to measure distance. I had to evade while at the same time get a feel for the direction their body is going. Some people will use a jab in a similar way. You just kind of have to rely on various techniques that allow you to take control of the direction things are going in. It wouldn't surprise me if that guy does calisthenics or some hybrid. I guess in a way, practicing this martial art requires you to develop that way and to be able to hold your own against people several times bigger than you.
Uuuuuhhh! 12:52 Nice Henka!😊👍 💪
I imagine you'll already have finished worlds, assuming you made it and blah blah, but yeah can't wait for that video to pop up in my feed. Love your sumo content so much.
Fun and inspiring to see how athletic these guys are!
Good luck at world's! 😁
Fun fact: Alan used to do parkour in PR 🇵🇷
Glad to see you’re keeping up with the sumo. Is a beginners course in judo a good start, to then try sumo?
Judo will help you get a "feel" for people pushing into you , which can translate into doing Sumo throws. That being said our club has several members with no martial arts background that do well in Sumo. Learning sumo without having to unlearn another martial art's way of doing something is probably the best way to go.
@@ohayosumodayton1226 very interesting. Thanks for the suggestion 🙏
@@ohayosumodayton1226 Absolutely. We get guys with wrestling backgrounds who want to throw people everywhere. They get a real eye opening at the tachiai. We keep telling them more sumo less wrestling.
Good luck at worlds!!! you're going to win 100%
Wow Seth, the balance and footwork on that first hit... that switch was smoooth
So happy you stuck with sumo. It's an amazing sport.
Majestic sumo wrestlers doing vertical jumps was not something I knew I needed in my life.
They are the nicest jock-nerds - keep the Sumo going!😀
So this is the Sumo combine.
hilarious and amazing at same time!
The sumo prime time health exercise reference at 3.35 was nice, are you doing these regularly? From your overall shape ratio you improved, you probably would improve more if you switch to brown rice and whole foods. With your foot positioning you not gonna go explosive like the guys in The Real SUMO Fighting - 1 - 8, i would definitly say stay with the tradtional stuff including Chanko Nabe - 日本. I mean the mongolians are rising to the top ranks too, you surely gonna rise too, if you align yourself.
Seth actually getting good at Sumo..
good luck at worlds!
Its just like when someone who knows nothing about BJJ or Wrestling, they think its goofy nonsense. If you have no idea what youre watching it looks ridiculous. Same thing happens with sumo, if you study it a bit you start to see whats going on. Its a sweet martial art.
great video! also nice henka 😅
The guy that won looked so genuinely happy. Great vid Seth 👍👍
MORE SUMO SHIT! YEAHHHH! 🔥🔥🙏💯
Good luck at worlds, man! 😁
2:39 and 3:12 were hella impressive moments. I had no idea sumo wrestlers got this flexible. Insanely impressive.
seems like sumo practitioners are the most underrated athletes in the world
The video was awesome, 2 $50 gift cards for all that seems a bit cheap though
You pay for it then 😂
Bro, you don't get to decide how much of other people's money they give away. This isn't a gameshow, it's Seth's money.
You should come to Australia and try the Indigenous Australian sport of Coreeda. Imagine a combination of judo, sumo, and capoeira.
Good luck at World's!!
Great video Seth... speaking of grappling - you gotta tell me if you and Craig Jones were siblings separated at birth destined to dominate the martial arts world - with you becoming the striker and he becoming the grappler - your philosophies bound to collide with Icy Mike refereeing and the fate of the RUclips martial arts scene hanging in the balance.
Surprisingly good
I personally love the sumo stuff and am thinking maybe you should consider the name "Sumo Seth"
Allan! Woot!
Sensei Seth. On his way to making the ultimate jujitsu!
Watching the vertical leap test and I am terrified for everyone's knees
That flexibility part was wild! Flexibility is really important on sumo. I saw a match where the loser ended up doing the splits, but he tore a muscle in his groin when it happened. 😰 When you have a 300+ pound man falling on you, that flexibility is gonna be invaluable.
Sumo Seth let's goooo!
5:17 that Webster fake to cartwheel was I need to see to know he's athletic lol
Seth, looks like you struggle when the other guy catches double under hooks and double belt grip. Don’t let that happen and you’ll be good
Hey good luck at worlds too!
Have fun and crush them at Worlds!!!
"good luck at worlds" 💪
