Hey guys, great job. Glad you found your saw. Lol awesome teamwork, good idea with running the extension cords I love my generator, but I hated at the same time too building materials that are free are definitely the best
@exploringmybackyard the generator we have down by the cottage is nice and quiet. Listening to that loud one all day kinda grates on the nerves and doesn't make a good video. Glad Jason thought of it!
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid I know the feeling I think I have about 500 feet and extension cords right now. I keep moving it further and further away lol really good video guys.
@exploringmybackyard lol! Thanks my friend! Oh...reminds me, we need to figure out a time that is good for all of us to have a meeting about the future live. Jason, Jason and I are 3 hours ahead of you, Matt and Mouse. Would a Monday or Tuesday evening be ok?
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead awesome! This one is small because of the spot we chose. Not much space for building there but felt like it would be so cool. What size will your cabin be? Look forward to seeing you tackle that project!
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid IM still not sure on the size yet. ive got ideas in my head and a spot picked out by the new pond. I would like 6 people to sleep comfortably. probably go with a loft style
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid you’re doing it the old fashion Amish way. Hand hammered nails. 😀 I have a nail gun for every application. I haven’t hand hammered any projects in years. Im Probably too out of shape to do that anymore. 😜😜
@906Dreams lol! We're using the nails because we have soooo many! We'll be putting more money into the roof with the metal so trying to save where we can.
Looking good ! Pretty brave with no strap holding that window Jason, Then when you dropped the forks just before you stopped i just about said Oh Oh :) A little shower would be nice been to hot ! but looks like we have a storm rolling in :) just hope it down destroy the crops, but we need lots of rain for these fires " Have fun stay safe :)
Great job! On starting Josh's bunkie! You two make it look so easy but I'm sure it takes a lot of hard work and determination which you both have shown over and over again in so many projects 👍. I'm sure Josh will enjoy the view and being in there soon. I don't mean to rush you😂. Looking forward to seeing the progress step by step🤩💜
Yeaahhhhh you found the circular saw lol. Jason can maneuver that tractor with the precision of a surgeon. Nothing like a good back scratch for a hitch we can't reach lol. Great job on the bunkie its really coming along great now with your great teamwork, and free windows that's an awesome score for sure because they are so expensive now. Only 40% chance always love those projections leaves themselves a great odd to be right lol. Have a great week guys.
You guys are making some great progress despite the rain! Love the fact that you guys can mill your own lumber...someday we hope to be able to do that 😃Hope you enjoy the upcoming weekend and have some nice weather! 🍁
@MapleRidgeHomestead thanks guys! Yes milling our own is definitely the only way we want to do it. Just have to keep our buildings under 160 sqft so we don't need a permit! Have a great day!
@lorilarkin827 these small bunkies don't require a permit. I'm not sure what the size limits are for Saskatchewan but in know in Ontaroo we can build up to 160 sqft without a permit as long as there is no running water! Check into it!
When you build a header the material is supposed to be vertical not horizontal like you built it. The reason for that is it’s suppose to carry the load from up above.
uuummmmm are the walls your windows are in load bearing? If so your headers might not be thick enough lol trying to think of a nice way to say well you know ,,,,,,,,,,,,, Take Care😊✌
@erniescabin4256 yes load bearing. The room is only 10x8. I thought Jason had plenty of support there. You think it needs more? He's built a lot of small buildings like this in his life. Not had a problem yet. Let me know what you're thinking. Thanks for watching Ernie!
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid With the snow load in ontario the min, header size is double 2by6 on edge, it's the span of the opening that determins the header size, over a three ft span you should go to a 2by8 header on edge
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid I've built sheds and ran a 4by6 beam on top of the wall, two ft longer then the wall to get a one ft overhang on each side, the beam on top of the wall will take the snow load 😊
I was wondering why you built with no floor insulation or vapor barrier. Your foundation probably should of been slightly higher off the ground. Unless the wood is treated it will probably rot quickly. Interesting videos.
Hello and thank you for your comment! This bunkie is on a massive rock and is off the ground on blocks and gravel. We decided not to insulate the floor but we will be doubling up on the boards and see how it goes this winter. It is a very small space so we are not too worried about. Thanks for watching!
