    In this episode, we complete the railing on the porch. Perhaps because we've been out of practice, but we made several mistakes when cutting the posts and railings. We managed to fix the mistakes (for the most part) and it turned out great in the end! We also build a metal trellis archway in our garden for vine plants to grow, like beans and cucumbers. We finish this episode with footage of cute squirrels, and a racoon that woke us up one night by digging outside the cabin!
    Welcome to our channel! This Log Cabin Project is a dream that we have had for several years that we finally decided to make a reality. Our goal is to build a tiny log cabin from scratch using as much material from our land as possible. We are building it entirely using hand tools (no chainsaw!). This cabin will function fully off-grid and will be only accessible by foot. Subscribe to follow our journey!
    We are learning a lot as we are doing (as always), so don't hesitate if you have any questions, it will be a pleasure to share tips and tricks, if possible.

    That little porch is so neat, just like the whole house. It's simply amazing the way you two have basically "carved" most of the house out of your forest. Nick, Maela and a cup of coffee. Good for what ails ya lol!! By the way, for future reference, Clorox kills mold almost instantly. I've use it many times to get rid of it.

    We were always taught that wasps were highly territorial creatures who don't like sharing their space
    with anyone or anything else. And those wasps look like they could be mean and nasty if provoked.
    On the other hand you can tell that you guys are getting way better with your wood carving and
    creations. The safety rails came out looking great and sturdy. Something that was needed specially
    up that high or slipping on icy winter snow. Safety always first!

    Even the pros make mistakes, but you handled yours well by rethinking your plan. I love the addition to your covered porch, but most of all your decision to cohabit with the wasps. Everything in nature has a purpose.

    Sorry yall had so many tape measuring malfunctions. My home has wasp nest up high so I let them "bee". A few years ago I started having wasps in my home and within a week, a huge swarm invaded my home. It was such a large swarm that it stopped traffic. I had to call a bug guy, and he said these wasps were taking over nests that were in my walls from years prior. I had him spray inside my walls and seal it up from an old drop wire, my power use to go to a garage I no longer have. My home is 90 years old and I also had $10,000 worth of damage from squirrels in my attic. They removed the insulation from ductwork to use in their nests, and chewed all of the wires. Repairs + traps and release total was $10k.
    Sorry for the loss of your pet. I have gone through this a lot, and it never gets easier.

    The reality of youtube is one has completed what is upload. All the advice in the world is too late.
    That said. A salt and water solution rubbed on the surface of the wood will kill the mold. The advantage to using salt is it's inexpensive and you probably already have it around for baking and cooking.
    The two of you are doing a fabulous job!

    Undiluted cleaning vinegar is best as it contains 6%acetic and will kill mould. Spray it on the surface, allow it to sit for about an hour, scrub until the mould comes off , dry completely with a clean cloth, throw away the cloth and brush. Then stain as you would like.

    The fact about mistakes: One who does not do, does not make mistakes. I thing the long gape you took, from intensive wood working, is the cause of it. Nice to watch you two working on your cabin. About the bees, I would remove it.

    Hi Nick and Maela. Another good video. I have a suggestion for your next project and that is for you to build some kind of work bench so Maela does not end up with a log between her legs all the time. Hope that doesn't sound too rude. Take care. ❤

    • @robertrosado5156
      @robertrosado5156 Месяц назад

      Why are you worried about it? I don't think it's ok to say something like that just to assume. She might like it, she might hate it, she might not even care. With them two working alot with wood would make me think that if it was an issue they would make something like using horses with clamps. But that's on them not us. Now I have to say sorry if I came out to being rude.. it just bothers me..

    • @joedannunzio9416
      @joedannunzio9416 Месяц назад +2

      @@robertrosado5156 that's OK, I was hoping no one would find it rude. But I think of health and safety all the time and seeing them sometimes standing on stuff to try and stop it moving, I can only think that there is an accident waiting to happen. A broken head, arm or leg seems to be just around the corner. With a little bit of care it could all be safe. Take care.
