  • The Audi e-tron brings all-electric driving to shoppers in the market for a German luxury crossover.
Shop for the 2019 Audi e-tron on CarGurus: cargur.us/yd1Pl
If you’ve ever seen an Audi SUV, then you’ve seen the 2019 e-tron. Aside from its special, mostly closed grille and unique polished metallic body detailing, the e-tron’s styling draws from the same design used to create the Audi Q3, Q5, Q7, and Q8. This is not a bad thing. In fact, the e-tron possesses greater balance and more panache than its quad-ringed SUV siblings.
Two versions are available: Premium Plus and Prestige. Prices start at $74,800, plus a destination charge of $995. Unless you can’t live without premium leather upholstery, more comfortable seats with a massage function, a cabin air ionization and fragrance system, a higher-tech version of Audi's Virtual Cockpit instrumentation, a head-up display (HUD), and rear side-window sunshades, then you should stick with Premium Plus trim and save yourself $7,000.
Our test vehicle had Prestige trim, optional 21-inch wheels, extra-cost Antigua Blue paint, and a Cold Weather Package containing heated washer jets, heated rear seats, and upgraded cabin heating and battery pre-conditioning. All in, it cost $83,090, including destination.
With an EPA-rated 204 miles of maximum driving range and an acceleration time of 5.5 seconds to 60 mph, the Audi e-tron struggles to compete with the standard-bearing electric SUV in the class, the Tesla Model X. But do you really need to spend the extra ten grand to get the Tesla’s 328 miles of range and 4.4-second zero-to-60 time?
Everything about the Audi e-tron is high-tech, from its electric powertrain to its triple-screen setup for instrumentation, infotainment, and climate controls.
Some of the technology is brilliant, such as the Audi Virtual Cockpit and the natural-language voice-recognition system. Some of the technology is distracting, like the flat and featureless dashboard displays that collect too many fingerprints. And some of the technology is frustrating, like the HUD that’s invisible to polarized sunglasses and the sometimes schizophrenic advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS).

I happen to have driven the model s a lot and now have bought an e-tron and I can assure you. I don't´t miss the Tesla a second. The smooth ride and build quality of the Audi is far beyond Tesla. Come on, how many of you drive more than 210+ miles every day, and when you get to a 150kw charger which is increasing in numbers, you top it up in less than 30 minutes.

Same here. I own a models p85d bought in 2016 with 253 miles range. That car drive smooth and very fast but the build quality and comfort is miles behind an audi. I just bought an e-tron yesterday and gave the tesla to my sister. The tesla feels cheap and not very comfortable for a $143k car (i spec'd it out thinking it was the greatest thing in the world until owning it for a few years with many problems and unresolved service issues). You really shouldn't drive an ev if you're trying to go far. It was a pia trying to drive 500miles on the tesla. The tesla took 4 extra hrs to get to where i wanted to go. I rather just fly or drive a gas car.
These ev cars are great for commuting within a 100mile radius and pretty cheap if i just charge it at home. i wouldn't even try to bother charging the tesla at a charge stations, one time i had to wait an hour before i was able to get a spot - yea no thanks.

@@hby7768 More lies. The tesla took 4 extra hours to drive 500 miles? I've driven that distance with a single 45 minute stop in the middle, and your imaginary 3 year younger car somehow managed less? Not just lies, but toxic lies.

@@ColinFox you're a fool. not everyone likes to lie on youtube like you.
y p85d has about 253 range. Real range with my driving is way less than that. I had to stop ~30minutes each time going from SF to Button Willow - i stop half way and ate at harrahs ranch so that added about an hour by itself. I get maybe 150miles range and most of it wasn't on the freeway. During that time, they routed me from charger to charger. Maybe they have better charging locations now. But a p85d back in the days took that long.
I drive mostly porsches, bmws and mbs and the the interior of the tesla is bad compare to those cars. When i slam the door you can hear the cheapness, doors feel hollow - there is no solid feel. Then there was the problem with one fo the rear handles not deploying. There is also wind buffering coming from the top right of the roof, the never really fix it. They were able to get the wind noise down significantly. But for over 100k car and they can't fix it that is just not acceptable. Tesla at this point can not build solid cars like the germans. The company is still an infant and needs time to workout their build process.
You can going around like child saying"lies blah blah blah". But if you really do some research, these cars aren't that reliable built wise. Other than that, the engine and the computers never failed.
Im strictly talking about my experience and my expectations of the car. Most folks coming from $50k cars would think the model s is the greatest thing in the world. Most people that are use to $100k/150k+ cars will know that the tesla is not worth $100k+. The engine and performance is worthy of the $100k+ price tag but not the cheap interior and build quality.
Like i said you can believe it or not but im just sharing my experience for those who cares. And if you don't care you can move along are continue to bitch about my experience like a petulant child.

@@hby7768 At least you're honest about owning an EV. Most Tesla fans think they got the fastest, coolest thing in town. IMO, you sound like you would like a high performance 4 door like an RS7, RS6, or E63. At least you get power plus gasoline engine. Besides, most EV cars lose their power after 100 mph, unlike gas cars which keep on pulling at high speeds.

One can’t compare the Audi to Tesla. Tesla don’t make luxury cars. They are not an automobile company. They have no legacy or history of vehicle manufacture. They make computers in a contained metal box on wheels that drive. They have an excellent charging network. However, they don’t and can’t, it appears, make an exceptionally well built and updated luxury EV.

Electrify America has about 325 charging sites with 150 kW and 350 kW capability. About 100 charging sites only have 50 kW and Level II chargers. And 111 charging sites are under construction now, with 100s more to come in the next couple of years. Tesla's rapidly losing it's Supercharging advantage.

Better build quality, fit and finish is miles ahead of tesla. i notice most of the people commenting care about range - in my experience you really shouldn't buy an ev if you plan to go longer distances. I have other cars if i want to get out of the city. Normally for me to get to southern california its about 5-6hrs, with ev charging on the tesla it took me 10hrs - this is also back then (fewer charger stations)when i had to drive from charger to charger and not a direct route. 4hours of my life is worth more than a plane ticket.

Audi only has over 100 years of experience so far behind Tesla. I have been in the model 3 and x many times and hated travelling in them and driving them. With stick to Porsches+Audis. On a long trip in a 2022 model x we had to keep stopping every 2 hours for charging as the batteries on all electrics run out quickly at high speed. A tesla test done showed a 26% loss in range from 65 to 75 mph. I travel in the 80 to 110 range.
