- Edited December 2021: To save you some time, this specific design is looong outdated. Your heat trap will not work if you copy this video. You can still build one but:
1: Pawns cannot build diagonally through walls anymore. You must build a proper path for them to seal the entrance to the furnace safely.
2: Sand bags must be built on every OTHER tile to slow raiders down as opposed to a continuous line of sandbags like in the video.
As the tribespeople crawl over the sandbags, they make a dark realization. The walls are covered with scratches.

tbh, it would be cool if the game implemented something like they won't flee if they cannot see if their teamates are alive or dead. Also if you manage to kill a certain % of them without suffering much damage that tribe would think twice before ever comming back. We should also be able to conduct raids ourselves and steal their ressources.

What to do if someone survives the burning room:
1: capture them
2: replace their damaged limbs with cybernetics and replace their old organs with new ones (DO NOT GIVE THEM ANESTHETIC)
3: Arise Lord Vader (Recruit them)
4: Send then to attack the faction who sent them to attack you(seriously, imagine their reactions)
It’s expensive as hell but you basically make your own Darth Vader if you look at it the right way

So when I watched this, I was questioning what is going on.

i was playing rimworld and made the bad decision of buying to dogs they had puppies and i couldnt bring myself to killing them so my colony starved and we died

well just make them into chairs and you wont have to miss them.
1. Sell them.
2. Create a second colony in a tile somewhere else, hunt all the animals, butcher them, cancel the colony, rinse and repeat.
3. Keep two separate animal zones for your male and female animals so they can't get to reproduce unless you say so.

Yes, but that would give -25 mood (I think), but if all yours colonists are psycho, than it's ok to cut the meat and skin out of a human corpse (right?) But if you sell the clothes, (0,1 to 30 silver) you will make not so much money, but whit the weapons (10 to 300 silver) you will make a lot.

The AI is absolutely retarded in this game, there was nothing he could do.
I mean there's no way to cancel a pet's action once it's committed to it. One time my pet ran into a group of 3 enemies because she was "hunting" one of them. Instant savescum.

@Joe H yeah, i kno. Its sad mostly. I guess it's easier to be empathetic towards such a simple animal, rather than towards humans since we are such complex creatures . And its very easy to label humans as "evil" and dogs as "innocent" or whatever, just because you cant relate to other humans for whatever reason.
And as they tore down the wall, only burnt husks remained. The smell of burning flesh filled the air. Scratches were left all over the insides of the steel walls, as well as the occasional torn off fingernail.

This my friends, is pure tactical genious! This is exactly how you win a battle, by making the enemy lose as many soldiers as possible while preserving as many of your own!
In war there is never a desire of a fair fight. The best way to win is no through killing your enemy in battles, the best is actually to avoid battles all together! Rather, try to starve your enemy to death, cut off their supplies or lure them into a trap and kill them as they have no means of escaping!

This was hardly genocide though. The raiders attacked OP. They were the ones picking a fight. The fact that the player chose to lure them into a trap and gas them to death is simply a clever way of eliminating your enemies.
The things I said, like trying to starve your enemy to death, cut off their supplies or lure them into a trap and kill them as they have no means of escaping, are things that are done in war in order to get the enemy to surrender. Julius Caeser did the same in Gaul. You might think it unethical, but you can't deny the results that you win battles.
For the record I don't think everything should be permissible in love and war, but I had to admire OP for his tactical genius in luring his enemies into a trap and killing them with minimal casualties. My point was simply that the idea of "I don't want to do x because that's cowardice/dishonourable" is very much a modern fantasy idea. People in war throughout history have only thought about one thing: Victory at all cost, and from that perspective, OP's tactic is admirable, even if you think it's unethical.

What makes it even more thrilling is that crematorium oven standing right next to it.
I accidentaly did this to my own colony just recently, my battery bank exploded and set everything on fire. The highest temperature I remember seeing was about 700C.

I once put a settler in a chamber with a gyser, and it quickly reached temperatures over 2000c
Had that happen to my kitchen room, which still was mainly made out of the wood, only the outer wall, which was newer, was out of stone. Luckily, I didn't have one mega building but several separate buildings.
I tried to fight the fire, but then I saw the high temperatures, the fire spreading... I evacuated my colonists then and let the kitchen burn down to ashes and rebuilt it out of stone.
But damn... this trap is sweet and efficient!
Wonder if it's working if you just install doors, hold them open, so the raiders can pass through and then just close the door in front and behind them.
Some pyroman raider managed to set fire to my barn. One of my hens melted before I could save it. RIP Hen 3. After that I started replacing wood in buildings asap.

Tip to keep people alive and captured: you can instantly recover normal temperature by using no roof zone tool, thus doing it in best moment to extinguish survivors and capture them.
wouldn't someone need to deconstruct the roof first, though? I don't think anyone would be able to survive entering that oven
Maybe some dmg and burn wound but they wouldnt die because roof remove is instant
To remove the roof they need to go inside, to go inside they need to deconstruct Wall, as soonas they deconstruct Wall, the room is considered as outdoors and temperature immediately goes down, to outdoors
@@JankerMLD until A14, you didn't need to build and deconstruct roof manually, there was the "build roof" tool, but the roof just magically appeared.

Check the lower right side of the video. Outside temperature, 75 F (about 24 C) or less. Inside temperature went up to almost 1200 F (650 C). Mind you, they were pretty much all dead by 700 F.

If you want to cut down the cost of wood you can use clothing from the dead enemies instead for the fire.

You turned it into an oven , I for one, Don't want to die that way.
If you move the door to the generator all the way to the right, you can move the tables up one row and then build a partial wall to help stop the loot from catching fire. There's so much loot from this wave that you can't really help it, though. Another thing to do would be put them in an adjacent room with a few vents.
+Nicholas Bennett I did actually try using vents, but I found them to be quite flammable. Also the raiders randomly catching fire from the heat is what causes most of the loot to be damaged. This could maybe be avoided if one used stronger thicker walls and heated the room to a lower temp for a longer period so they don't burn like that. I find the main draw back with this is it's very difficult to capture people alive.
+The AntiGentlemen Vents are flammable? Yeah, that sucks. I imagine finding a sweet spot where they still die quickly and you don't have a problem with the fire would be hard. Really nice system though.
You can use steel flooring, those are not flammable.
This surely is a Rimworld classic.

(Late reply, but still, for posterity:)
Yes, it'll cool down faster if the walls are bare rock - but only if the temperature outside is already extremely low, in which case you may not even need a trap. Anything below -50C outdoors is likely to kill any raiding party on its way to your base, if they can't get indoors quickly enough.
If you're not prepared to live on an ice-sheet, you can hook up a corridor with a dozen coolers and set them all as low as they can go. You can then use a switch to turn them on during a raid. Naturally you'll still need to slow the enemy down and trap them for it to work. This method does not damage the loot at all, and leaves lots of man-flesh behind for eating. Just remember to turn off the coolers and leave some doors open to let the room heat up for a while when you're done. xD
Of course, unlike heat, I don't think the cold can do anything to stop a mechanoid attack. I'm pretty sure they are impervious to the cold.

In the current build this is possible, just remember to clear home area inside of your heat trap, and remember your pawns are lazy so constantly remind them to build those fucking walls. Just remember, pawns are stupid and don't like following orders. This is to be tested, but consider putting in some wooden floors as well and the fire will spread even faster. Also don't use limestone if you can avoid it. Either granite walls, or if you're rich enough, plasteel. But I doubt you'd have enough to build walls of it.
PS: this doesn't work with mechanoids. I was bored. Spawned in some pawns, and made a room go up to max temperature. Enough so that humans catch fire, instantly. Mechanoids are untouched, unless they get hit by fire. So, this could still work, if you have wooden floors so the mechs can get burned that way, granted that'd only weaken them.
Technically you would need a steady flow of oxygen inside to keep the fire burning
