This is a great video- more emotion than I've seen out of Paul in all the (up-till-now) Interpol years combined. He has a great personality, it's cool to see him open up a bit and smile. The part I appreciated most was when he said composing music, without a deadline, makes him as happy as anything. And how he wanted the fans to know he took it all seriously. I think that's one of the reasons his (and Interpol's) fans are so loyal, his/their rare artistic integrity.
Watching this never gets old. Watching someone who loves music that much is always inspiring. I don't even know how many years I've been a fan but it's been close to half my life. I think I was around 22 when they first hit the scene. I'm almost 46 and I still get goosebumps when I hear him sing live. I hope to see him or Interpol one more time.
It is sort of rude, Interpol is a part of his life, and there is a fine line. I'm sure he doesn't mind talking about Interpol a bit, it's inevitable, just give his solo career the respect it deserves, and make the conversation mostly about his new solo album.
I have only love and support for Paul and all of his musical projects , he's very down to earth and cares deeply about his creative endeavors as well as the people involved. I think that he's a great example for people that don't have a hold on their pride and ego. Every interview I've seen with him proves it. A great person , a great musician , full stop.
Paul, mostly fron 6,35 to 7,24, looks like anybody who passed on the street and is thrown in the middle of that performance. Its normalcy is disconcerting and wonderful at the same time. Thanks for being so Paul!
I also have to add that NWA were really big with goths in the early 90s and no one really knows that so I get where Paul is coming from with that love. I use to roll with my really hardcore goth mates blasting Straight Outta and that confused a LOT of people. I can't really explain it, I suppose it's just angry outsider energy.
I wonder who is talking in the madrid song. Like when Paul's stops singing and someone starts speaking. It is an awesome song just wonder whk that person is.
@@Smilthy Hello Smilthy, observe him well from 6,35 to 7,24. Now that his beautiful voice is abandoning him it will be even more difficult, although in my opinion he remains one of the great poets of this century.
at about 13:05 Paul talks about a guitar playing style of some sort, "Daniel coming in with a 'hommy/omi' line" or something. What is the word exactly? and what is it? Can anybody tell me?
people who look like starlets taking pictures of him all the time for like 1000 times in a small venue is really weird and insensitive towards Paul, the real fans who actualy care about his music come at 9:00
***** I saw that on wikipedia and im like hmmm... so i looked it up and sure enough, paul banks, singer of such deeps songs like "PDA", "Obstacle 1", "Evil", and "not even jail", all songs about suicide, rape, and depression, has a mixtape entitles... "Everybody on my dick like they supposed to be". Nice.
Not had much dealings with Interpol myself knew an emi guy he died though, I'm labelling this guy as new David Bowie soundings! I like him he's a hard worker it shows. I'd love to work wiv him in person but you know me it's people come to me wales is beautiful after all but I'm definitely choosing la over New York these days!
"As a biological function of being alive, i'm gonna make music whether or not people get it or respond to it."
Please do, Paul.
Thats my artwork he's holding at 7:14 !!! He said he liked the fact that I added his moles as its what gives him his specific identity.
Omg how awesome!!!
Lucky you! 😁
I adore him as a musician but even more I admire him as a person. Even if I've never met him you can tell when someone's honest
I think this guy found Paul's smile button on his left shoulder at 6:48
Loooool
it's so beautiful uuggghhhh
Hahahaha!
The fact that Paul works on music after his concerts to "wind down" shows his extreme commitment to his craft, he is a true artist to the core.

I think it’s impossible for him to make a bad song. He’s a true artist!

I love you so much Paul, but I'm afraid you'll always feel out of place in this world!
Why would he?
