this album is one of the most "needs a second or third listen" album i've ever heard, it's pretty out of left field for them so it really grows on you, once you get it you really get it
This is easily Interpol’s best album post-Carlos D. It takes a few listens to fully appreciate-which, in my estimation, all the best albums tend to need. To me, “The Other Side of Make-Believe” is what “Self-Titled” strived to be: Interpol’s mature record. It’s introspective and patient and every single song compliments and connects in tone and pace. Masterpiece!
The website i use to rate albums is absolutely shitting on this album (rym) but i love it lol. In terms of post carlos d I probably like el pintor a bit better though
When this album came out, I couldn’t stand the song “Fables”… but here we are over a year after release, and the whole album has a certain hold on me. Seeing Interpol live and hearing “Into the Night” live was a life affirming experience.
This album exceeded all my expectations! The songwriting for all of the tracks are very strong and is full to the brim of Interpol signature guitar sounds and Paul's voice. Adding more piano elements. This is their best album as a 3 piece considering I loved both El Pintor and Marauder! They are proving that they are masters in their craft. Love you Interpol!
Such a great record! It hasn't quite topped Marauder for me but it may if it keeps growing on me. It's definitely their most unique record, it's so great hearing how comfortable Paul is becoming behind the bass, some of his best playing by far as well as vocally. I always love hearing their takes on the songs, I'm curious if we'll see B-sides👀
Fortunate enough to make it to Pryzm and Forum shows. Technically band where tight and really clear that they are enjoying playing. New tracks fit well within the canon and the London audiences where great. Thank you Interpol.
They kinda talk about Toni and Something Changed like its indicative of the album, its not. Album's great tho. Love this vid too, I wanna know how the "mathy" version of into the night would sound. The fact that Mr Credit is from a line in 'M' is interesting too. Passenger is my favorite, 'we need MO of that sweet, sweet chorus daniel' Also a bit weird you guys put a transition for every song except Go Easy
My 2 favorite tracks on this album are "Something's Changed" and "Renegade Hearts". These songs mean something to me personally. But you know, I think it's best NOT to know so much about how the song was composed or what the lyrics mean. Keep all that a mystery for the audience. Preserve the "magic". Don't show us how the magic trick was pulled off. TMI. My favorite song of all time is the Walkmen's "Summer Stage". It reminds me of a time when I was 10, 11, 12 growing up in North Hollywood. Other than that, I have no clue what the song is actually about nor do I care to ever know. It means something specific to me. That's all that matters.
This is great insight into the creative process. Always enjoy hearing about how musicians piece things together. Side A of the album flows really well and is quite enjoyable. Save Passengers and Gran Hotel on Side B, the remaining tracks are forgettable and unfortunately "samey." Remove two songs and this is a tight album. Regardless, a more mature, well-aged Interpol. Looking forward to catching them live later this summer.
I wanted to like it since the last album was meh but it’s not good and I think it’s their experimental phase. Just lost their magic from their first 3 and El Pintor been the best since Carlos. The album ratings are fair imo. Few bands can release an album that kills from track 1 to its end. Interpol been lucky to do this twice maybe 3 times. But their later stuff isn’t doing that. I’m not sure if it’s the lack of Carlos or their need to not be TOTBL but they remind me of how Depeche Mode went down hill once Alan Wilder left.
I don’t think it’s anything to do with Carlos at all anymore. El Pintor was an excellent record made post Carlos (my favourite of theirs tbh) but I think they are definitely in some sort of phase where Marauder, Fine Mess EP and Make Believe have been cut from the same cloth and are just too similar for sure in many ways I enjoy the new record but I did have a higher expectation this time I can’t lie
I don’t think you can get any cooler than these 2 dudes.
These two are sharp
add Sam
They are the coolest dudes ever! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i love interpol so much it hurts
me too 🤕💞💞
we get it fr

In that way, it really reminds me of their self titled album.
Agree.

El pintor was good too
Fables and Passengers are constant tear-jerkers for me. Their best album in a long time. Passenger's chorus is phenomenal.
My two fav tracks from this album. The record has definitely grown on me
Big Shot City, Renegade Hearts, and Passenger are my faves! It’s so fascinating to see how they came to be
It's a masterpiece, Interpol never fails 🤧❤️
I can't think of a single bad track. Absolutely love this album. Fables, Something Changed and Mr Credit are my top picks
solid choices
Gran Hotel is as triggering AF for me, it is brilliant but the memories are hard to deal with dammit.
Into the Night 💙

They are so gorgeous!!😍😍😍
Oh- and talented too.
i love them
Beats are amazing in this album!
Piano on Toni - so sick! Love it!
Something’s changed and passenger are my two favorites but I love the whole record
This a really solid album! Toni, Something Changed & Greenwich are infectious!!! Those 3 songs have been on a constant loop😎😎😎
One of the best interpol albums. Melodies, poetry, rythm, vocals, interpol....and i am tired listen again about carlos....

They are fire🔥
Two of my favourite guys on the planet right now, love you so much and your so cool.
Saw them live in Pittsburgh last month, they were awesome.
Daniel looks the same throughout the years
HA, when one of them is talking the other just like powers down, no nodding or smiling or even breathing. lol
😂
Pokerface, it was pretty funny actually - maybe a little intentional to both wear sunglasses indoors. Haha.
My partner and I do this, it's a creepy product of being around each other too many damn years lol.
BEYOND THE STAR ⭐️

Gran Hotel and Toni are probably my favorites off the album but it the whole album is great

"Renegade Hearts" Is an underated song. It's muy fav one!
Definitely a huge improvement from the last one. I thought it was all over after that one.
Wasn’t a fan at first but after many listens I dig it even tho I hate the title lol. Passenger and Paloma are my faves 👍
great record

5:30 did daniel fall asleep ? ^^
hahahahahahahs
You forgot to edit the go easy song. Now they just start talking about it straight after big shot city.
Does anyone know what glasses Paul is wearing because I've been looking for that frame forever.
where's fogarinooooooooo
Wait, are they wearing the same suit?
thank you for this🫶
That all they got?
behind the glasses they're both completely cross-eyed
Parece que Paul se estaba durmiendo 😂
They’ve both got great hairlines
I love killers

Wrong.
Depeche mode still kicked some serious ass after wilder's departure.

Love the band but loose the shades indoors guy’s FFS.
Its the same song over and over
It's not but funny opinion
It is so fucking bad.
Yep, as bored as the record
Funny joke, bad take
Nah he’s right. Just a depressing dark album that isn’t exciting.
@@Pope_Bourbon_II not really. It’s a great album, you and the commenter both have the attention span of a baby
@@Pope_Bourbon_II another really bad take
@@natechenry agreed
Man this band…….
something changed is such a banger
