The E-11 is hands down my favorite weapon in SW. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face once again (you already brought a smile to my face with the previous video about your real E-11 prop). :)
Cracking build. Looks great. A good way to get the textured paint is to mix it with talcum powder before you stipple it on. My first love is railway modelling, and I've done a few 'end of British steam' locos, which were absolutely knackered in the late 60's. The talc is great for helping represent thick grease and dirty oil. Mixing the talc with acrylic paint can see the whole job done in an hour, as it drys very quickly.
Hello my name is kevin and I have made an A NEW HOPE e-11 blaster with eva foam and I looked at references photos and it looks really great I've put alot of detail into it.
Love the name of the company, Blaster looks great, and I’d rather assemble and personally modify a gun rather than get a finished impersonal blaster, thanks great demo.
For stippling, you could also use a modelling texturing paste. Get a dish washing sponge with the scoring side and dab it on. Did it to my Shore Trooper helmet and it worked well in creating a textured underlay to the paint. You can also buy paints such as Rust-oleum paints which gives it that proper rusty under coat look you'd be going for. Also blaster-month, does this mean another run of the Merr-Sonn Blasters? ;) My birthday is at the end of the month... *hint hint*
Sir Stefan Lord of Kitty Cats already had the medium so was easy to do. You could do actual crinkle paint maybe, but one you don't have to bake 😄😄 not got plans to cast any more MSP5s up atm
Hi great video, and very helpful as I am about to build one of these Doopy Doo kits, also adding a BlastFX electronics package as well for sound and light. Having researched the sterling a little before embarking on this project I thought I would share some interesting information I have found on the crinkle paint finish which is found on some Sterlings. Apparently the MOD spec for the sterlings supplied to UK armed forces required a smooth paint finish for the entire gun. Those guns made by sterling for export had the crinkle paint finish applied to the main frame/tube and the folding stock arms. Some export models bound for India had the contract canceled and were subsequently sold to the British Army who broke them up and used them for spare parts. The MOD gave special dispensation for the use of crinkle painted parts except for the main frame/tube which they refused to sanction in the UK Armed forces. Presumably this is why these Idia contract sterlings where used for spares rather than just being issued. So if you have a sterling with the crinkle paint on the main frame it is probably an export version rather than ex UK military. I find this stuff fascinating, and it would be interesting to know if the Sterlings supplied by Bapty & Co. for filming where ex MOD or not. An alternative for achieving the crinkle paint effect is this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VHT-SP201-BLACK-WRINKLE-FINISH-SPRAY-PAINT/381739555527?epid=1610268644&hash=item58e1735ac7:g:--EAAOSw3pVZ0vvy Its a heat resistant paint that drys to the crinkle finish.
Interesting! Yeah my real one has the crinkle texture. Yeah I knew you could get spray paint that will crinkle, just doing the effect with stuff I had already :D
A lot of them do have the crinkle paint, they sold hundreds of thousands of these things worldwide, and almost every Commonwealth country bought them. I thought the Wrinkle paint would give others an alternative to achieving the finish.;-)
Comparing it to your sterling smg based e11, how do you think this is? Does it have enough details and the right proportions to call it a more than decent replica?
Was it PLA? PLA is harder to sand, but starting at a fairly low grit, at least a 100, is necessary. Mix that with filler primer layers and you should be good to go just working up the grits to a smooth finish :)
Fantastic, but I'd rather it was painted as a 'real space gun' rather than a 'film prop' - the stippling is characteristic of the base prop, but they'd never heard of Sterling in a galaxy far, far away...
Buckethead Props I have an SDSProps E-11 Blaster but not accurate enough, so was thinking of either buying a Deactivated Sterling Rifle or some resin cast E-11 Blaster.

That came out amazing well!

Awesome! thanks for the tip :D
Looks great!!
Looks good! Splendid May the 4th build.

Awesome job, Dan! I'm maybe doing this too one time... ^^
Great vid
Tee hee - Wickes, exactly where I bought my Aluminium bar from for my Doopy's E-11 :-)
Nicely done, sausage

Thank you 😁 yeah always have more of a connection with a prop having built and painted it 😋

I’d like to build a doopy doo kit sometime too.
Cool
Hey guys. I’m currently building this kit. Do you happen to have the screw sizes you’re installing. I’m the bottom of handle. End of scope etc. thanks
What is the length of the rail and the little piece for the counter?
Comparing it to your sterling smg based e11, how do you think this is? Does it have enough details and the right proportions to call it a more than decent replica?
definitely looks like the parts are cast from real parts, size of everything is spot on
Is there a trick to sanding off printlines? I couldnt seem to get the ones off the Robocop gun I did.

Nice! Next, an airsoft version ;)
I have my real sterling version 😉
@@BucketheadStudios But... but.... airsoft!? ;)
haha mine shoots laser bolts :D

My guess is a DL-44?

C7TV I guess it's down to personal preference. We all have to decide what 'real' is for us #existentialcrisis 😄😄
Buckethead Props - Absolutely
Any chance I could get the Measurements for the mettle bar.
20mm width, 230mm main length without the bits for the bends
Do, Doopy Doo's provide a spring for the recoil inside?
Mark Smales No, but I think I've seen upgrade kits avaible with such, don't know the maker though.

From a guy that has both 😅 just depends what you want it for, for trooping definitely a resin cast, for display you could have either.
Need more cowbell…

Not a very informative or user friendly video, no instructions or steps.
What an utter complete waste of time. And the background MUSIC IS FOOKIN ANNOYING!!
Agree the music does wear a bit thin, but we live and learn! It's a video about putting together a resin blaster.....so I put one together 🤨
Well done mate. Apologies 🤪👍
