Amazing he was able to stay on his feet for that long with a heart shot. Had plenty of time to chase a hunter down and gore him into pulp if he decided to. Absolute giant.

@@LuskArcheryAdventures Yes. The herd rallying around him was amazing. Better to be shot by a hunter than eaten alive by predators. Have had animals shot with an arrow run a short distance, or just jump around a few seconds then stop and look around like.. what just happened? Then a few seconds later, they fall over lights out. I don't think they even felt any pain from the sharp arrow hit.

Yeah. Normally, an animal would run into the woods. And we’re supposed to wait at least 30 minutes, if not a couple hours, before pursuing it. So we don’t see them lasting like this. And with a heart shot, they do not die as quickly as a double lung shot.

There are so many factors that affect penetration, as I'm sure you know--draw length, draw weight, arrow weight, broadhead, etc. And the ribs on these buffalo are really thick...as is the animal itself. No question that heavier arrows generate more momentum, especially downrange.

Oh yeah, you have to ask them for a price list; they'll send you one. For Red Stag, it's like $5500 for a week of hunting and one red stag. Then other animals are extra. Or you can just pay their daily fee, which I think is around $550, including food, lodging, guiding, etc--then pay for any animal you harvest. The buffalo range from $3200 to $8000, I think.

Would a different shot placement or broad head produced a more humane kill? If this is the norm for time for these animals to expire then I thank you for sharing this. I shot 12 deer this year with bow and gun all died within sight. My questions about this video are: Is a heart shot the best shot for a buffalo? Did the broad head cause enough wound for rapid blood loss? I just have never had a heart shot deer that I shot with a Sevr take 15 minutes to die? Think for me I will stick to whitetail.
