  • This video shows you how to use the Appliqué feature on the Luminaire to create a patch or appliqué design. I also demonstrate how to use the built in shapes to make an appliqué.

so, making the patch as described in the video, you would hoop the tear away stabilizer and then just place the patch fabric on top of the stabilizer? Once the machine outlines the patch, trim that off and then finish up by creating the satin stitch?

Thanks Terry! Great tip about using felt to give a patch a little more substance. I'm going to try to make a few Disney patches for a friend who is a big Disney fan.

Thank you see much! My grandson is getting a special toy and clothing to go with it next weekend. For the life of me I could not remember how to make a patch for his name...too much Christmas going on to think! You are a Godsend and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

on the letter appliqué, how do you tell the machine to do the placement line first and the tack down line before it does the design?

Why would we want to stitch the design from the beginning after we stitched placement and tackdown lines? Is that necessary?

Is there any way to increase the stitch width on the satin stitch?

Linda Johnson not in the embroidery menu. You can increase density but not width. If you create an appliqué in My Design Center, you can increase the width.

Thanks, Terry. I think I’ll play with that.

I want to know how to make it thinner. I find the outline is too thick for applique when stitching around an eye etc.

I meant satin stitch when going round design at the end

You lost me when you started making an appliqué and didn’t create the Disney patch.
