    Very useful. Approaches and arrivals confuse me somewhat. This does help. I shall follow this tutorial tonight.
    Last time I tried an approach the autopilot had me going in endless circles. 😂

      I'm sure you figured it out, but some approaches have a holding pattern on intercept. Once you intercept the approach, the GPS will continue to hold until you go into your flight plan (FPL button), select the next waypoint (below HOLD), and click the direct to button, then click activate. This will get you out of the hold and to continue the approach in case other people have this issue.

      @@Huddison I flew it mostly successfully. I had some issues with the vertical navigation part. It seemed like it would work and then not work (MY issue, not the simulator). But I will fly it again. I just need to grasp all that is going on. All else was successful. Fun. I love learning this stuff. [UPDATE] - flew it a second time successfully. Both times the FLC turned itself off after takeoff. The first time I was behind the plane trying to get caught up. The second time I realized what happened and it worked great. Now a NEW route somewhere else! And with different planes! RedRuffinsore (Jim)

    What a wonderful video thanks.
    Even after months of practice, I still get rusty on the correct 'order' of things with the G1000 ILS approaches (esp if I have a few months off the sim!).
    Question: there are an insane amount of options when it comes to flight planning (built-in World Map, Little Navmap, Simbrief, or even simply programming the G1000 approach in the cockpit like you did in this video) - what's your most effective goto method you find for an 'easy' flight plan between two airports?
    I often confuse myself (analysis paralysis!) when it comes to trying different approaches to flight planning. Everyone seems to have their own preferred method. Then ATC (whilst great for adding immersion) just gives you ridiculous high altitudes for an approach to a regional airport in the 172. It all adds to the confusion....(which is probably why you turn ATC off!)
    Sometimes you just want a simple flight (20-30mins) and you want a reliable goto method that is repeatable without having to spend 30 mins researching videos on how to use that tool, planner, instrument etc).

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks. Probably the easiest method to plan a quick flight, is through the MSFS World Map. If I want to plan a more complex flight plan, I tend to use Navigraph: ruclips.net/video/PU311Zly3QI/видео.html
      Go with what's easiest for you and slowly migrate to the more complex flight planners.

  • @danielhawley6817

    "mixture" adjustment on a turboprop? The tower controllers are going to LOVE a Caravan trudging into their hyper busy airspace @ 70 knots! Parking in the grass next to the active?? You won't be invited back!

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  Год назад +1

      You do realise that it's a sim right? You are also very unlikely to get trucks driving across the runway, just as an aircraft is about to land (although that wouldn't surprise me at Heathrow)

  • @cwood7240
    @cwood7240 Год назад +1

    What knob did you use to change on Multi Purpose Panel to change your final fix attitude to 2500 feet? Brilliant flight planning with the G1000. I'm the guy that couldn't figure the range knob equivalent from X-plane to MSFS using the mouse wheel to do for the range. Rather than X-Plane using the the left mouse button to change. Hah! Same equipment, just different techniques. Flight sim programs do this but all the same. Thanks James

    • @Huddison

      I move the switch on the far left of the Multi Panel to the 'ALT' position to change Altitude (then use the large silver knob to change the actual alt number) - hope this helps ;)

    Hi, I have a problem with the mouse and my Thrustmaster, I also have the connected controller that I use only for free views, but I use more only the mouse and the Thrustmaster, the problem is that they conflict when I use them simultaneously, if as an example I have to click with the mouse any button of the plane and while I'm doing it I move the yoke or click a yoke button, the white dot of the controller begins to appear, and the arrow of the mouse disappears, Basically the movement I do with the yoke turns off the mouse until I touch the mouse again, and if I touch both all the time it starts to go crazy of course. I hope it is understood, do you know how to solve?

      I suggest just using the mouse for cockpit interactions and your flight controller for aircraft functions.
