    Wait, was I allowed to dilly-dally before this video? Usually it's frowned upon here, but today I was just told not to hesitate. Does the G1000 support dilly-dallying?

    If you have a flight plan before starting the flight you can do the whole flight from takeoff to landing simply following the magenta cone/bat wings movement for movement. Using the flight director, autopilot off, nav mode on altitude set ahead of time, and hitting the approach mode key, autopilot off the whole time. It works similarly to this video, but you don’t fly the line, you fly the magenta cone/batwing as it’s sometimes called that comes up when flight director is on, and mirroring it’s movement.

      Not a noob it's very easy to confuse them an ils in its simplest form is a localizer but it has the added benefit of vertical reference the arrow being backwards was most likely do to loc frequency u used was for the opposite runway

    Thanks to your excellent videos, I’m finally starting to get this. I’m still a bit fuzzy on doing an ILS approach from an angle, for instance 90 degree angle to the approach. The glideslope indicator starts coming down but the horizontal line doesn’t tell me when to turn. Or maybe I’m just not waiting long enough. Am I missing something? I’ve watched a lot of videos and am still confused. Thanks!

    Hi and thanks for another very helpful and useful video. I’m pleased to learn that it’s possible to get NAV frequencies through FS - I was surprised originally it wasn’t there. Can’t wait now to try out using the ILS on the G1000. I may decide to get the Logitech radio panel now I’ve found a use for it. Ken

      Followed the ILS tutorial video yesterday using the G1000 - it all went very smoothly. I surprised myself on being able to maintain a decent approach with no dramas! The only time I had any doubt was when I entered the NAV frequency, instead of showing as “Loc” as it did in your video, it came up as “VOR”. But colour was right as well as direction etc. I also meant to check if the additional airport information also gave the option for airport altitude - I’ll check next time.

    If you do an AP ILS approach, do you use the throttle still to keep the diamond centered?

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  2 года назад

      No but throttle to get down to Flaps speed - around 1900 rpm in a C-172.

    A useful link to "Air Nav" , Airports: www.airnav.com/airports/ and after clicking on Sectional map in this example "Sedona, KSEZ" the expandable/adjustable map of the U.S. comes up. This enables a detailed look of information of airports in the U.S.: vfrmap.com/?type=vfrc&lat=34.849&lon=-111.788&zoom=10&api_key=763xxE1MJHyhr48DlAP2qQ

    Where do you read the range on the ILS monitor?

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  Год назад +1

      There's a button in the bottom row of buttons on the G1000 named 'PFD Opt', click that then DME to bring up the distance to the ILS.
