    Enjoyed the video. Very familiar with the route and stations you stopped at because we live in Greenville, SC and frequent our place in Orlando/Kissimmee.
    We've owned 7 EVs. 5 were Teslas, 2 were Audis, the last one being an e-tron GT Prestige. I've been teetering on buying a P2, but can't make myself do it due to the TCAM issues. Anyway, the end of the video was hilarious (think I'll buy a petroleum stock)! My wife and I can relate, actually.
    We were JUST in Orlando last week, but we drove the Giulia QV instead because we just didn't feel like the charging stops. Even though the GT was our fastest charging EV (we averaged 268kw to 50%, 150kw to 70%, 100kw to 90%) and averaged 3.5mi/kwh, it still took longer than the ICEV thanks to EA usually.
    While sure, it cost us more in gas, we left Greenville, SC, stopped once at the Georgia Welcome Center of I-95, stopped again in St. Augustine, FL to eat at a place we like, went ahead and fueled up in St. Augustine (didn't need it), then drove on in to our place in Kissimmee, FL (15min from Disney Springs) in just under 8hrs (512mi).
    We'll continue to do EV road trips. Last November we too the GT from SC to MD to AZ and back to SC. Great trip. Our 1st drive that fast west, so we wanted to stop in places and see things meaning the EV was a great choice for that. But when it comes to the usual trips where we've kind of "seen it all", we take the petrol lol!

    In case anyone wants to try out an EV without buying one... Hertz is now offering both Polestar2's and Model Y's in their rental fleet. For an upcoming rental in Portland, I ended up choosing the Model Y for the superior charging network and more interior & storage space. I didn't want to risk the iffy CCS charging network for the Polestar on the Oregon coast. There are plenty of Tesla superchargers along US101, and 6 (!) superchargers in the Portland metro area. I personally own a Wrangler 4xe, and I would never use Level 2 public charging since it can use gasoline on road trips.

      The supercharging network is unmatched!

    Enjoyed the journey. I just did San Jose to Irvine and back, about the same distance as your trip.
    All was perfect until last EA charging stop that had reduced power of 100 kW so I moved to another EA charger up the road. There the 3 available chargers would only give me 4kW!
    Lucky there was a Chargepoint in town. Got 60kW and then was able to reach a good EA station. This was all happening from 11:30pm till 2am :-/
    Petroleum stock does not seem like such a bad idea. 😂

      I may have made some short term money on Exxon but I think both ev’s and ice vehicles will coexist and that’s ok with me. There are perfect use cases for both

    I have a Polestar 2 and considering the new facelifted polestar 2 because of the bigger battery hmmmm….. And peak fast charging is rated at 205 kW instead of 150 kW.Are you going to change to facelift or keep yours? :D

      @EVMotoring  Год назад +1

      I have made a change to another EV already but I will definitely consider another Polestar in the future as I was very happy with mine.

    Hello everything is fine? Good video! I'm Brazilian, could you help me with some questions? I'm going to pick up a car from this one next week in ORLANDO, I would like to know if you had any difficulties with payment at the charger centers, if they all need an app, or can I pay directly with my card? which app did you use the most? Thank you very much!

    • @EVMotoring
      @EVMotoring  Год назад +1

      Electrify America chargers are much more reliable when using the app. The credit card readers usually don’t work too well.

    Curious on why you’re getting rid of your polestar 2 for a Tesla? Also, what speeds were you driving on the highway. Taking a trip from Tampa to Cincinnati, and want to know if I lose a lot of range from by going 80 instead of 70. Thanks!

    • @EVMotoring

      Tesla now qualifies for tax credits so that makes a model 3 $15k cheaper than a Polestar and I had a good trade in offer

    • @TwelveBravo
      @TwelveBravo Год назад +4

      @@EVMotoring The tax credit won’t make it cheaper for everyone. You have to have a tax liability for it to make sense since you don’t get that money as a refund if you don’t owe any taxes. At least that’s the way I believe it works.

    • @EVMotoring
      @EVMotoring  Год назад +1

      @@TwelveBravo yes, that is correct. Always check with your tax advisor. One could make the argument that no one should be buying a $50k car unless they pay at least $7,500 in taxes but I’m not a financial advisor. Also leasing most times awards the credit up front and since the leasing company takes the credit, your tax liability doesn’t matter. (Tesla does pass the credit on thru leasing)

    • @TwelveBravo
      @TwelveBravo Год назад +3

      @@EVMotoring Well I think people prioritize their money in different ways. So I don’t think it’s fair to say that people shouldn’t buy a $50K car unless they’re paying $7500 in taxes. I just think that there’s a lot of confusion surrounding what a tax credit actually is. Good to know about the lease though! Once I run my polestar through it’s course I might consider leasing again because EV technology is changing so fast now!

      I'm a big EV fan but I honestly detest Teslas. They're largely built like shit (and this is from personal experience), they are incredibly loud at highway speeds for not only an EV but even compared to a gas engine car, and also I don't want to give $ or be associated with Elon Musk.
      Now that NACS is now going to be available to everyone, the Supercharger walled garden would soon be moot since all other brands now have access, making it even less appealing to get one.

    Or are these old videos just now posted? I noticed your tag was November 2022... so this must be an old video.

      Yah. If you’re a road-tripper, 400 is great. But as a commuter, I’m focused on my daily use case. And I typically don’t commute more the 200 miles in a day. So a Polestar would be great for me. Especially at the price. The 400+ mile EVs are just too much $$$ still.

    always concerned why their are chargers at Walmart.. the demographics for a Walmart shopper are much lower and ev demos are much higher.. a complete disconnect

  •  6 месяцев назад +1

    not sure why people who drive ICE cars are so against EV'S.. when its cheaper to drive a ev ..to charge and to maintain.. I guess ice drivers have money to burn
