At least you have common sense to avoid the GW bridge of I95. I’m glad you took the GSP & Tappan Zee Bridge

I stumbled upon this video/ channel. I will be driving to FLA from NH in a week or two. I've driven to Florida before, many times. I'd take a plane, but the baggage limits would not work. I camp in Florida, tent camp. I plan on attending three music festivals so three guitars, a fiddle, camping gear, it adds up. I drove from Florence SC to home the last time I visited Florida.
It is a long one day drive. I leave NH mid-afternoon. I stop in Conn. for gas, coffee, second stop is south of Wash. DC. If I leave at 2pm, drive 8 hours, I'm beyond Wash. DC in VA. After 8 hr. of driving, I start thinking of the best rest stop for my overnight. I pack up my little SUV so I have a space to lie down. It always amazes me how many cars, trucks, rv's, motorhomes, park overnight at the rest stops, many with Canadian plates. I generally can make it to 1am before I'm done, my eyeballs have fallen out of my head. I park under a light, near other motorhomes, trucks, and campers and crawl into my sleep space. After 4 hours of sleep, I hit the road, grab a coffee. My goal is to make the Florida state line by midday. From state line to campsite is a 1 1/2 hour drive, with a stop for grub, etc. It is a long drive. Sometimes I wonder.

My parents also sleep for a few hours at rest areas when they make the long drive. Good luck on your next road trip!

Just did this trip from MA to FL in one shot. I’m absolutely exhausted. Should have booked a hotel 😮

Oof, it really does require an overnight if you don’t want to feel exhausted when you arrive!

Great video! Impressed with the 12 hour drive on the first day! I think 8 is about my limit. Looking forward to updates on her experience. 😎

Thanks, Pam! It's definitely a long drive that first day, but having a second shorter day is so worth it!

Loved watching this ! My daughter, who’s just turned 17 is hoping to apply for Disney College from here in the U.K. We’re hoping that Emily settles in really well , meets lots of wonderful new friends and has a fantastic experience while she’s there ! Xx

Thank you, Roberta! That IS a long drive! I'm so glad they had a good time! My husband is not a huge fan of being in videos, but he's ok with me sneaking him in there from time to time. ;)

I remember your last road trip to Florida. Good job driving! I can't believe your husband drove that many hours the first day, NH to SC.

He amazes me! I can barely drive for 3 hours without my rear end killing me, so I don't know how he does it, but we do it this way every year!

Hi Michelle! Have so much fun! For her privacy, I can't say where she's working, but she won't be in the parks (and is totally ok with that). :) She figures she won't get tired of them that way. Have so much fun at Disney!! We'll be there in a few weeks. :)

You were just a few miles away from me when you crossed the Tappan Zee bridge. We will never call it the Cuomo. Enjoy your trip. Wish I could have brought you some snacks and handed them off as you drove through. Lol!

lol. Thanks for the thought! We'll always call it the Tappan Zee too! My daughter's college roommate lives very close to the bridge as well!

If this isn't the best family... Daughter is cute as can be and lights up when Mom asks her how her trip is going... Dad keeps his mouth shut and Mom is a real hottie... My family is cursing and capping on each other the entire trip... Will you adopt me please?

Hello! Another CP mom that resides in NH. I was watching your video because my daughters return trip home is rapidly approaching. Her last day is 6/2/2022. I will be flying down and driving home with her. If you have any tips on the return trip (best departure times/accommodations etc), they are welcome. Thanks.

Hi! How exciting that you get to see your daughter soon! Mine has decided to extend (pretty sure we've lost her to the Mouse, but her original end date was 6/2 as well!) On the return trip, we like to do the same thing... drive as far as possible the first day, and have a shorter second day. We leave Orlando super early (around 4:30 am, to beat the I4 traffic) and usually stay in the Mt. Holly area of NJ. We haven't found a hotel there that we love, because we are generally looking for somewhere inexpensive and those are not the highest quality accommodations... ;) But if you do stay in that area, I recommend either making reservations that you can cancel if need be, or picking a place fairly early in the day because they tend to book up pretty quickly. Good luck on your trip!

@@JamieinNewEngland Thank you. I am glad your's extended, mine did as well, she will have been there just shy of one year. Everyone has video driving to FL, nobody has any to describe the ride home. I for one am excited to bring my daughter home.

I'm in NH. I ended up here because of the road trip info. What is a CP mom? I'm stumped. Driving home from Florida always messes me up. I've done it a bunch of times. I try to make it to around Stony Creek VA. That is about the half way point, about a 9 1/2 hr drive from Orlando. The hotels get more expensive the further north I drive, my experience. If you want to push it a couple more hours, stop at Fredericksburg VA. There are many hotels at the Fredericksburg exit. It is over 11 hours drive to Fredericksburg. I've also used the alternate route, RT81. Drive north on RT95, take exit 86B to RT26 to RT77 to RT81. It is more scenic, adds some time to the return trip. RT81 north all the way to Scranton PA. Then RT84 to Conn. Keep on until RT90 Mass Pike to Worcester, then 495 to NH.

Hi Aaron! I love road trips, so I never mind the drive. My husband does all the driving, so I mostly navigate and snack. 😉 It takes us around 20 hours (we usually stop overnight in Florence, SC so we do 14 hours the first day, and 6 the second). My husband does have a bit of a lead foot, so it may take others longer. We take the Tappan Zee bridge in NY instead of the George Washington bridge, so we can avoid going through the city. I hope you have a great time! I love watching the temperature go up the father away from NH we get!

lol. Unfortunately I'm prone to car sickness, so I have to sit in the front, and I don't think my husband would have been comfortable in the back. She's gotten plenty of practice in the last week in Florida!
