- Samsung Note 10 Plus - here's our review for the king of Android phones. Can it keep the crown, or have all the other, less expensive contenders made it just another phone? The answer to that question, Dieter Bohn says, is simply this: how much would you pay to have a stylus in your phone?

What do you want to know about the smaller Note 10?
It doesn't make sense as a phone.... I had big phone but the price ND the abilities just not justify...
Why does it exist?
H. Kashyap ☝️ I was gonna ask that same question lol.
Is it the better deal
Why so many people hate it. I'm holding it in my hand right now and it's pretty great.
Let's just take a minute to appreciate that stunning intro...
It gave me goosebumps. Felt like I was looking into the future, only it's now.

Samsung should've called the smaller one the Note10e at 850 dollars and the plus version should've been the regular Note10 at 1k dollars
In 3-4 months for sure.
vaibhav it can’t cuz the tech is so expensive
I agree, sorta. It’s like Samsung decided to make the smaller version a “e” version but also didn’t commit all the way. The fact that s10e has a microsd slot and the note 10 doesn’t is just a blatant money grab.
Just so you can afford it? In that case everyone should make their phones cheaper. The naming convention makes all the sense in the world, especially if they'll be making two sizes going forward.
That would make too much since my man.
The production has been amazing lately! Good job, especially you dieter.
Anastasis Barbantonis dieter is one of the best reviewers on verge right now
@@mustafavapiwala5329 indeed
That means a lot to me. I've been trying to stay on top of my diet lately, so I welcome your compliment
I purchased the Note 10 Plus. I loooove the battery life. Its unbelievable. I go all day without charging it. I have never had a phone I did not have to charge until I came home at night. Plus, the phone charges fully usually 47 min. Super fast!!! Love this phone.
You can buy a 45 watt charger from samsung and it will charge in 30 mins
Excellent production.
But your review is "good" but you always end up your reviews with a: "this ain't it Chief" unless it's an Apple product. You end the "review" on a note that will affect the decision of the buyer, let the buyer decide. I hate that you never want to compromise and use ambiguous wording, how come it's never "it"? You're good but not great.
All other review aggregators I've seen online also give the top spot to Apple, not just Deiter.. I'm an Android user, but maybe the latest iPhone is just a better product?
@@zzzzzzzzzzz6 don't think I've seen a single online reviewer give the top spot to apple, Linus tech tips, trusted reviews, unbox therapy, and a ton of other random websites. Apple just seems to not have that much to offer anymore and that's coming from someone who used an Apple phone their entire life (until last year)
Also apples market share has dropped 5% from Huawei in the past few months.
Samsung the best to me
Watching this on my Note 10+

Isn't it released tmr
Same. Got mine on Wednesday :)
I'll never understand why people are preordering phones. Especially Samsung phones that will drop in price so fast...

It's incredible how with every Android phone review from The Verge the text is always the same: "Yeah... That's nice, but actually, it's not that great". And that's with literally everything.
Exactly. That's why: If it isn't iPhone, the Verge doesn't love it.
Not really, Note 10 just isnt a nice upgrade from s10+(w/c you can literally buy 600$ or cheaper now)
Unless it's a Pixel or Huawei 🤦🏾♂️
This happens when you handover a flagship to a confused person who doesn't know what that thing is. Come on, you are making a video to conclude something for your viewers, not to confuse them.
This was great in every way. Awesome job guys!
did you just said slightly faster charging? 15 w on s10+
vs 45w(possibly) or 25w out of the box for note10+ is not at all slightly.
The S10+ features 18W and the Note10+ comes with a 25W charger so its a 7W increase. That's not that big. The 45W is not that big of an argument because you have to buy it. People also never mentioned that the iPhones have up to 29W fast charge - because you have to buy it separatly
@@Raja995mh33 but the charging times are different and the power delivery is now usb power delivery, so the charging times arw actually significantly better than the s10+ and surprisingly better than oneplus even with only 25w charger (1hr5mins based on the other video)
@@Raja995mh33 iPhones have up to 18W charging via USB-C PD, not 29W.
But honestly you shouldn't be fast charging most of the time, fast charging isn't good for battery health. Most people are better off if they turn fast charging off, and only turn it on when they need it.
@@Raja995mh33 Yes it is big. Charging speed tests show a massive difference. And Samsung actually gives you a fast charger in the box unlike apple so that's not even a comparison.
"slightly faster charging speeds"
15W vs 45W is NOT 'slightly faster'
Especially if you're coming from a 5W charger.
@@koushikneriyanuri5420 out of the box yes. Capable of 45w. Do you drive 50 mph if you have a Lamborghini? No

I've been with this phone for 4 days after having iPhone for 6 years. I got so bored with iphone and tired. I saw this phone and I had to get my hands on it. The aura glow color is so beautiful the display is amazing. I love it so much
Cant find the aura glow now adays. Or a note ten plus with no 5g.
Welcome to the android ecosystem...
I bought the Note 10 plus .... And no it wasn't because of the S Pen. It's nice and ( after 2 days using ) sometimes practically but the main reason was because of the big, boxy display. I'm sick of those largely rounded corners and to narrow displays. Last year I bought the Mate 20 pro ... a damn beast but the display just wasn't wide enough 😕. Years ago I swore to myself to never buy a Samsung phone again but damn .... Samsung got better 💪🏼
Why do you look annoyed talking about the features? Who gets mad at feature packed phones as if it's a bad thing? Lol!
@Adrian yeah maybe cause he doesn't look happy. 🤣
This guy is a iPhone man I can spot them anywhere the Note 10plus is the phone of the year hands down
@@tracypowell3922 i have no problem with Tech reviewers loving the iPhone but atleast be fair reviewing products cause they owe that tothe viewers. 🤷♀️
Features =/= gimmicks
Omg absolutely. He's all "It's has EVERYTHING... But I'll never buy it for that reason, it's okay"
What's with all the downplay after the upsell?
Why nobody is talking about how quietly Samsung removed heart rate sensor?
And note search feature works in note 9 ,not an exclusive feature for note10
You are confused or shocked?
Works on note 8 too
Err... no, I think it incorporated into the under screen fingerprint
Probably because nobody used it. It's irrelevant really. And for the 10 people it did well congratulations you are a minority.
That intro looks even better on 6.8 inch screen of note 10 plus 🙂
I'm genuinely surprised how thorough and beautiful this review is wow. Samsung did a great job this year with their flagship line (S10 & Note 10). Thinking about what's ahead I don't expect much change next year but in 2021 I'm super excited for what Samsung will have for us 🙌🏽.
You forgot to mention that the Samsung Galaxy Note Plus has a slot for a micro-SD card while the Samsung Galaxy Note is missing that feature.
I believe that the note 10+ is for a particular crowd. It is for power users, gamers and for the business minded person not the common person that is just going to make calls and txt. You either purchase this device for particular purpose or just to have the latest tech.
Couldnt have said it better 👌 this is exactly right i use my phone basically every second of the day because i practically work on it and it can get tiring charging my phone 2 or 3 times a day
One year later to the day, and I just bought a note10+ brand new for 650$, it's amazing.
Pro tip: avoid the early adopters tax and buy top-tier flagships one year after release at almost half-price.
“Is there something you want out of a smartphone”
“Dex”
I lost it, caught me off guard lol.
Dex - I've used Dex for a couple years now and I do really like it. I originally tried to use to use it for productivity, email, photo editing... but it was clunky. You never knew how different apps would work. Would it act like a windowed phone app, would it work like a scaled down windows app??? Who knew. What it did work really well as was a media device. It was a handy way to plug your phone into your TV with a keyboard and mouse and stream Netflix, Amazon (through phone mirroring), RUclips... and you could watch apps in a window and text and browse the internet if need be. It was handy to work on simple spreadsheets and word docs... but the apps were simplified and I'd always go back to my laptop. So, at the end of the day - I'd watch Netflix on the phone - and occasionally text, and work on the laptop.
The S pen is my reason for getting the note 10 (upgrading from the note 8). I like digital painting and that's enough for me to go for the note 10 over the S10. So far I really like it.
What painting program do you use? I am currently an iphone user but I am considering switching to this device.
@@Scoopy1979 I've been using art rage
4:01 No, that's not it. Cameras are much better on the Note 10 plus.
Have Note 10, have Note 9. What can I say... pure excellence! The best you can buy right now. Form and function at its best.
Best use case I've found for Dex so far is the grade school student with a phone. They use Chromebooks at school and can then come home and use Dex for schoolwork. As a parent, it's great so you have to buy/manage one device for your child. Then setup a monitor, keyboard and mouse in a common area of the home so anyone can use Dex when needed. Curious if this can be incorporated into the review.
I just moved from iPhone 11 pro to Note 10+, oh my god. I never regret my decision!
Randy Paputungan u down graded the camera
@@dylanpower1438 so what? he still got the a better phone. besides, some people prefer oversaturated photos.
I feel like at this point the review for every new Note phone could basically be cut down to like basically "Do you want the S-pen? Then buy this phone. Otherwise go with the regular Galaxy S model."

I know this was a review for the Plus, but I think it was a bit misleading that you failed to mention that *only* the plus includes the microSD card slot. The smaller one doesn’t. So it’s not just ram/cpu that is different
Yes I do need the stylus so badly. It’s useful for me, I’m a content planner and events coordinator, Note 8 made my life easier. I took tons of notes and drawings without the hassle to carry the paper notes (I saved the environment). Therefore I bought N10+. It’s made mainly for professional people not for everyone
"You saved the environment" is a bit of a stretch
Vandelay Industries 😂😂but it’s true 😝😎
Agreed. I'm an artist and graphic designer. There's no better phone for creative outlet while on the go. I can sketch up ideas and take handwritten notes whenever a great idea pops into my head. It's then very easy to shoot those ideas out to clients for immediate feedback. For so many of these tech reviewers, they just don't get it because that's not their workflow.
Spec hype beast? You mean the literal info that makes or breaks a phone?? It’s literally why we keep getting Notes. They used to be the BEST.
The normal Note is actually $50 cheaper than the S10+
And the Note 10 is worse lol

Galaxy Note 10 plus is worthy even in 2023.. I love it 😊
I look forward to when no one complains about not having a headphone jack
the complaints are getting less and less
At first I was really annoyed. Now I'm fine with it because I will never go back to wired headphones.
By far, the best thing about the Note 10 is that it allowed me to buy a Note 9 at clearance pricing. I won't buy a phone without a 3.5mm jack.
How's your experience been?
I traded in my iPhone 11 to Note 10 plus and I am in love. I use the stylus alot!
By removing the headphone jack, all these companies lately, are becoming ‘follower’ of Apple instead of being a ‘competitor’. It’s a great opportunity for LG to step up their UI and Battery game to bounce back into the smartphone market (they have DAC in headphone jack).
The Note 10 Plus didn’t check all the boxes the Note 9 did last year.
🤷🤷🤷
So what ? Pay more for less is the feature.

I heard Samsung is giving every student in Hogwarts a Note 10+. 🤣
To help you out, there are some Note 10+ features that get overlooked but are enough to make anyone buy the phone. 1.) 25 Watt charger in box makes the phone charge very fast, faster than any competitors. 2.) Can buy a 45 Watt charger and double the fastest charging phone speeds. 3.) Reverse wireless charging is more than the wire charger that comes with the iphone, the reverse wireless charge means I can sit the iPhone XS Max on the back of my Note 10+ & charge it faster than someone plugging in a iPhone XS Max. 4.) The Screen is Larger. 5.) 1300 Nits makes it the brightest or a top screen brightness phone on the market. & 6.) The best Screen on the Market

Comparing this phone to a Rolex is just ridiculous. Not even close.
Samsung wants all your Valuable notes for themselves
For me it's not the pen. I dont care about price. I care about power. I care about size. I care about battery life. Screen quality. The Note 10+ does it all. I still love my work phone (V50) but this time Samsung is my daily driver. Also haptics are OFF THE CHAIN. Texting is a joy. I've never been able to text faster. Highly recommend it.
That production quality!!! I hope to produce similar stuff soon

Great job in nailing the product differentiator of the Note10. In the same spirit as this video, for Dex, can you please address how much does it do for your day-to-day productivity? What's the benefit of new Dex compared to regular drag and drop using the file explorer?
No more headphone jack is just really disappointing. How could they not fit it in, especially since there is a massive s-pen...
Because they want to push you into buying their wireless buds. It's the same as Apple is doing.
Samsung already explained. Same reasons like Apple. To increase a little bit battery capacity and improve haptic feedback.
@@mohdfaiz88 If you look at teardowns, it mostly doesn't add up. There is a large gap of empty space. Also for those few more mAh extra battery, you could make the phone thicker and keep the camera module flush with the case. :)
Honestly headphone jack is overrated... I use to use wired headphones and I would hate it.. So restricted..
Then I bought myself jaybirdx2 and I've never went back to wired... They are old headphones but dam they work amazing still!!
j suarez for me it would be the same but you just have the convenience of never having to think of charging the wireless headphones, making sure they are connected and also when travelling in planes here in Europe you can’t use Bluetooth

Dex is great. For non-work scenarios it appears to be a great quick media OS. I've setup my brother to use it as his movie watching machine.
It sounds like it's a lot better this time around with access to a full Linux? I am hyped for your next video.
When you talk about Dex, also talk about the gaming capability. For those that get a phone for gaming, you can play your mobile specific game on a bigger screen (laptop or monitor). So it doesn't have to be all work and no play.
Dex is amazing! Cover Linux Distro support, plz!
Came here to say this. And I use DeX regularly. It especially came in handy after my laptop died. And I use it with a spare monitor and bluetooth peripherals-even though every reviewer seems to act like no one would ever do that.

The issue with Samsung devices it that they’re too expensive and they depreciate in value in less than 4 to 5 months. Purchase a Samsung device for $1,200 and I guarantee you won’t even get $600 for it a couple months later. I love their phones I just hate they’re so over priced. iPhones are actually worth it because they hold their value and Apple sends out updates for your older months for years to come. Even the iPhone 6s is still getting iOS updates. Set your game up Samsung

His watch on his wrist
I think dex is good and its definitely a step in the right direction. I don't even use a computer anymore. I use full remote access on dex to complete most of my finance work for my job.
Something tells me America is jealous of Samsung because their homegrown Apple is way down the lane when it comes to pure innovation.
These ‘gimmicks’ have sold tens of millions of these things. Good on you Samsung. I got mine and love it
The smaller Note 10 has a lesser PPI than the iPhone XS... that is tragic.
Agree
That is because the screen is smaller. The 6.8 Note screen will still look better.
Mickytdi The Note 10 is a tragic device, no idea what Samsung were doing, should’ve just released the Note 10+, that’s the true model. Thought they made the best screens yet 50% of their newest flagships have a worser display than the XS.
I love watching these reviews. I get that phones are getting more expensive, but I've always bought flagship devices and I've never paid full price for them. Right now I'm using a Note 8, which was a $1000 phone when it was released, but I got it several months ago for $350. The Note 10 is going to be an amazing sub $400 phone in a year and a half.
Don't forget IP68 water resistance..
Not all phones these days have it.
I think it's a given that it comes with it, it's practically a staple.
I really think Dex is a compelling reason to buy the phone (or any Samsung with Dex on it) for those that don't have the budget for both a phone and desktop.
Looking forward to that Dex video, really want to know more about it !!
At the store I saw both s10 plus and the note 10 plus... Didn't see so much of engineering difference... Nor did I like the aura glow... It's just like some sort of a reflective back... I like solid colors... And also it's practically unusable with a case on with a single hand... All these things made me go for the ceramic white s10 plus... I still like the concept of s pen... But the size drove me off... It's just too big for comfortable usage
This is a Plus review. Great Job Dieter.
Now, on the Note 10+, I feel this is extremely huge, beast of a phone. 😃
Anyone watching this in 2021? Do you think that this is still a luxury note?
Bought used note 10 for 150 dollar. Thats what i valued note 10
I will never understand why anyone would purchase this over oneplus or even a normal s10.
Zyrexed in my case:
- S Pen
- Larger battery
- wireless charging
- great display
- better camera
- Dust and water resistance
- better UI
- no pop up camera
- better video recording
But everyone has their own opinions, this is just mine.
This is mainly comparing to the OnePlus*
For the S-Pen
Exactly! But if OnePlus made a phone with a stylus I'd be even more in love with them as a company.
PositiviTea Spill the S Pen is one of the biggest features that makes the Note stand out in my opinion.

Deiter bohn is one of the best out there.
Reviewers. Please don't omit talking about speaker quality from your reviews. Kthanxbai.
Yeah, sadly that was lacking in this review. :-/
dex... not important..... proceeds to make whole separate video
This vid confirms to me that the verge loves to hate...and how could you critique certain features that you haven't tried/tested?
Ordered mine today, I use the s pen on a daily basis on my current Note 8. Note 10 was obvious choice for me. BTW notes have been searchable at least since the Note 8, since I have used that function for the past 2 years to search for my quick notes on customer info.
"I'll give you my headphone jack when you pry it from my cold, dead hands"
Nobody uses those anymore
Question about Dex:
after using it in my NOte 9, it's significantly useful with a laptop-like companion, simliar to the SuperBook, MiraBook, NexBook. Yet Samsung has yet to release these kind of accessory, even if it's a portable screen with bluetooth keyboard folio. yet, they release support for windows and mac, which is basically letting you run a mobile OS with Desktop UI, running on another OS.
Why are these devices so hard to do (Superbook is closing down, the rest is not so hot either) and why hasn't Samsung push this along with Dex?
Shoulda waited until next year to drop the headphone jack 💨
Eventually it was going to happen.
I just got the note 10 plus and it blows apple out of the park. To say that I'm impressed with Samsung's latest flagship phone is an understatement! (Coming from a former apple diehard fan). Android is where it's at now, trust me... no notch!
