      Hello Kev,
Thanks... Going a bit stir crazy already, I did think I could spend all my time watching everyone's videos but sitting upright does make my operated side swell up so I'm still a bit behind on my catchup activities. Thanks for watching.
      Take care.

I'm 54 just had my right hip replaced I ride mountain bikes and all I can think about is when I can get back on the bike... I'm glad you said about the bruising and swelling as mines the same I've also got some staples in and I think one has started to become tight as it's pulling and so sore

      Hello Anthony,
Congratulations on your new hip... My surgeon said I should not ride my bike for 12 weeks post op which I did follow, but now 14 months later I did the bike most days with no issues... Hopefully your swelling will ease soon and you'll be more comfortable. Thanks for watching.
      Take care.

@@ThePensionerAdventurer thanks for replying Paul ...slowly getting there I may have to have one wound checked as it's seeped and bled quite a bit but staples out on Monday and dressings changed ...the only thing I find uncomfortable is that swelling my knee is so swollen and my thigh

Hi there, it’s encouraging hearing others progress, I am day 12 post opt , are you talking outside bike not a stationary bike ? Form is key, I am using a walker still to focus on proper walking, thank for sharing

      Hello Tina,
Congratulations on your recent hip replacement... I was very keen to get on a stationary and or outdoor bike... The physio i visited after 6 weeks said i could ride the stationary bike but the surgeon still said i should wait until 12 weeks post op before riding any sort of bike. I did as i was told and waited the 12 weeks and just focused on the walking. I 100% agree that the form is so important, which I am sure you know from your yoga background. Wishing you a good recovery.
      Take care.

Hi there! 12 days after right hip replacement. I’m still using a walker. Getting ready to transit to a cane. I’m curious, do you guys have walkers in the UK? I didn’t hear you mention it. I’m from the US.
    I enjoyed your video.

      Hello,
Thanks for watching my video and taking the time to comment. Good to hear you've had your hip replaced and i wish you a speedy recovery. I did have a walker whilst in hospital for a couple of days. Before being discharged they did some tests to see if I could walk with crutches and I carried on with them. I guess the time you transition from walker varies quite a lot and is based on the individual.
      Take care.

Thanks for this video. I'm 6 days post op. I've looked all over RUclips for a British perspective on hip replacement info but not had much luck. One thing surgeons are terrible at is giving you pre op exercises to do, the moment you are told you need surgery. It's vital to get the muscles supporting the new hip (or any limb) in as good a shape as possible. Also, I'd have liked a more detailed info sheet of daily goals and rest periods etc. I've been doing the exercises given by the physio but would like to know how far I should be attempting to walk. I know we are all very individual but more detailed guidelines would be helpful. Thanks again

      Hello Jane,
The lack of info was why I started to document my progress with the new hip... Hopefully over time it will show any lesson learnt. I agree about building muscles before and after to support the new hip. I found my cycling before helped a lot as it is none weight bearing and I could still do it.
Wishing you a wonderful recovery and many thanks for watching.
      Take care.

@@ThePensionerAdventurer doesn't help that I'm overweight now due to lack of exercise (due to hip) although I did go to a gym a couple of times a week before surgery just to try strengthening. Think it helped. It's all pretty exhausting though. Hey! Ho! Onwards and upwards

Great to see you’re progressing so well and that the arthritis and ankle pain are gone! Amazing to think you were up walking by 6pm after surgery starting at 12pm 😲 I was aware they wanted to get you moving quickly but I didn’t realise it was so quick! Fingers crossed for your next milestones! 🤞

      Hello Miriam,
The key to all the hip replacement malarkey is movement I believe and the quicker you get mobile the better... I am really pleased many of the possible side effect have not happened but will be super pleased when the bruising has gone. Many thanks for watching and your support.
      Take care.

      Hello Joseph,
I was amazed how quick I was walking too... today is two weeks after the operation and I walked 1.5 miles this morning. Stitches will be taken out tomorrow, which will make things more comfortable as it is quite hard to sit for long periods to time, hence the slowness to catch up and or keep up with everyone's videos. Thanks for watching.
      Take care.

      Hi Andrew,
Thank you, I did a 0.59 walk this morning my longest yet. I am going to stick with that distance for next week and introduce a smaller walk for the afternoon. It's like having a full time job again all the recovery stuff - lol. Thanks for watching.
