Great job. Put some 4 inch angle roof edge on top of the rubber roof. Fasten it with glue then stagger the screws every 4 to 6 inches. Glue a 6 inch strip of rubber over the metal to cover the screws. Caulk the 6 inch wide strip of rubber on all sides with Vulkem urethane caulk. This will prevent leaks and keep the roof from blowing off while traveling.

Touring caravans (the kind you hook up behind a car, the kind Jeremy Clarkson has spent 40 years destroying on camera). Similar construction, except, you see that steel frame in the Wienerbago? At least the old (1970-1993) caravans I know of, all had wood frames. So when they soak it up, the whole structure gets floppy. With the inevitable sag, lean, and drop if left long enough.
I just found you all this evening and love your family. I have a 2017 Minnie Winnie 27' in new condition only 13500 miles on her. Paid cash for her in August but I realized it's too small for my eventual plan to live in full-time. We have a 31' Holiday Rambler with 56k miles that I've decided to keep and completely remodel with money from sell of Minnie Winnie. I'm 68 so will hire a professional to do the work. Consider putting a metal tube from front to rear between the metal supports so there is a bow in the top. Flat roofs will never stay sound for long. Even a 1.5 inch bow will make it more waterproof over the long haul.
Epic work Josh and family. My dad was in the navy and one place we moved we found an old coastguard boat from another century abandoned and half buried in an old garden that looked like a jungle to a kid younger than Squeezy. Dad hauled it out and fixed her up, rebuilt the engine, repaired the hull and put her back on the water. She was the ugliest boat in the bay, which was full of yachts and fishing boats. Ever seen that classic film The African Queen? Dad didn't have a dingy. He swam out and back. I loved that old boat. We used to chug along, or smoke like crazy, down the lakes and go swimming and fishing. I'd dive off the roof. You remind me of him and thinking of Dad makes me smile, as does watching your channel. All the best for 2023!
Thank you guys so much for giving such great family entertainment.. I wish I was still close to my children like this, we used to do everything together... then they became teenagers.. 🤦 The camper is looking amazing so far!! GREAT JOB TO YOU ALL!! THANK YOU ALL! ❤️

@@Sleeperdude Your humor and antics along with that fantastic bunch of family members are well deserving. But I think Rocky still needs his own bachelor digs!
You have a blank canvas now ! With 3 kids and that size motorhome I’d build 2 bunk beds and a queen size in the back a small kitchenette and use those bus seats for the kids right behind the drivers compartment + a small head would be needed ! Haul a small enclosed trailer for your BBQ and bikes and chairs and when camping use the trailer for a dinning area and game area in case it’s raining but make sure you insulate with CLOSED FOAM on the ceiling and walls and floor ! Hardwood floors work the best plus a box on the rear for your generator and tools plus gas cans . I’d use the cab bunk for storage of coolers and clothes and food , that’s my opinion from a guy who has owned many campers !
One suggestion I'd make is to brace the forward section like you did on the rear. That added bring would make it even safer yet. The motorhome is coming along nicely. Great channel.
Happy belated birthday Josh! That's a crazy amount of work that you're doing on this RV. It's going to be like a new RV when it's all said and done. I love this project and even more that it is a family project. Life skill building is invaluable. I'd suggest more steel structure in the roof especially where you will put an AC unit to prevent the roof from sagging. As for weight, make sure you have some decent shocks, maybe adjustable air shocks to prevent shock load to the structure after adding interior and luggage while traveling. Maybe some type of moisture barrier with taped seams to prevent structure damaging condensation while sleeping. Finally prevent rot from wet road spray and ground moisture by using an impermeable coating on the underside of the exposed floor. Maybe hit up a cat scale before and after doing the interior. Make sure the GVWR doesn't exceed the axle rating. Use better wheel bearings. Carry a porta potty instead of plumbing in a gray/black water tank. Fresh water tank adds lots of weight. Most campgrounds offer electric/water hookup. Add rear impact protection inside rear wall, tied into vehicle frame. Maximize storage with your interior build. You're doing great! I'm looking forward to more of this series and your travels.
I use too work on these motor homes for about six months and one tip i can give you is to make sure it's water tight is when you silicon it up you need to remove all the old silicon and wipe down the surface with some solvent before you apply the new silicon as new silicon doesn't seal to old silicon very well Thanks for all the great content and happy birthday Josh from south Australia

Wow... we've come full circle. We started watching when you were working on the other RV, watched all the back episodes to the beginning, and now you are working on this RV. You all certainly make an excellent pit crew. Brad-Dad/Craig and Mike make for great skilled subcontractors! Great to see the whole family working on this project. Cannot wait to see all the future vids on this! So much work, but a great vid! (Continue watching to see if Minnie gets a Godziller! LOL!)
The framing in the front you can weld a frame to screw the OSB to. The whole perimeter of the roof can be metal for strength to hold better. Y'all can build a stronger structure with a little more metal. Tanks are easy to find. There's an RV salvage business in Kentucky y'all can source some of the parts for. I wish I could remember the name of it. They've got pretty much anything you'll need. The wiring is gonna be a problem cus you forgot to cut channels for it.
Hey Josh, biggest suggestion is metal frame the front bed area to prevent the structure sagging onto the truck roof in the future as the wood rots out again. I’d also consider some diagonal supports under the bed, in the rear wall and at minimum 2 in the roof structure if you’re trying to stiffen it up to make it safer for your family to ride in. Consider also that the chassis underneath this motorhome may need some structural upgrades to meet the requirements for new registration. If it is possible to fit upgraded brakes please do so as that newly rebuilt 360 will produce more torque propelling this down the road faster than the manufacturer intended. With such an amazing family on board you should have all the stopping power you can muster. Also consider this was built for two people to travel in. In Australia people riding in the living area must have lap sash seatbelts like front passengers do. I despise side facing seats due to the number of neck injuries on record.

Hey Josh, I have been in the Rv industry for over 20 years, the sealant you want to use is called Butyl Tape, for corners, and Dicor self leveling for the seams on the roof. I am here for you if you have any questions..
I forgot to tell you that i tried the Factor meals you showed on last video! Amazing!!! They come chilled not frozen, and the quality is unbelievable! The meats are thick and fresh and the vegetables are vivid in color and fresh! I’m giving the company a Fabulous review! This is by far the best I’ve tried. Anyone out there questioning them, don’t! They aren’t frozen tasteless poor quality TV dinners. Fresh top quality! I’m going to order more and add on the smoothies!! They ship them very well too. Thank you!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Question: how are you going to cook without gas? Guess you'll be taking cold showers too. In all seriousness, great video, doing great job on fixing up the ole gal. Thumbs up to waa-waa for all her hard work on striping the foam and old paneling. Josh be kind to your feet. I wasn't kind to mine and now I've gained neuropathy in both feet. Be careful of your waste water tanks, they're expensive to replace. Looking forward to future videos of the RV repairs.
Not only did I watch till my phone died and have to wait for it to charge but now I want to get the pop up camper trailer my buddy has and try and make it work.
Love how y’all doing a full rebuild of the RV that way you trust your own work and know what and how you rebuilt everything my dream RV I would love to find an old bus I loved as a kid is called Crown Super Coach with a 10 or 5 speed manual and a high rpm Detroit Diesel (don’t know much about them) I love the body style and how they sound as a kid back then in elementary school that would be my dream RV but anyways keep up the good work and don’t work too hard 👍
I love this project it’s great. My wife and I are looking for a small camper to rebuild for ourselves and our two youngest kids. Been watching for a year now and love it.
One other trick I was going to tell you is if you ever break down again you can rent a 2-wheel car dolly and a U-Haul half ton Chevy pickup and throw the front of the camper up on and tow it back the only thing I would do is remove the driveshaft like you did before just take it easy and if the fryin is a little too wide normally there is front spacers on it and you can remove them and put the wheels but normally a car dolly is wide enough to fit a dually on on the front end
@@Sleeperdude yeah no problem don't mean to keep bothering you there is a really nice Ford Fairmont up on marketplace he says it does not run says it only has original 48,000 miles and it's really good on rust and it looks like it from the pictures I tried to send it to you off the sleeper dude 88 on I think you should check it out cuz I know you need some parts I think it's way worth that

Sorry guys I love you but I think you should start over with another one because that one is not going to live
Ok 👍
It's going to be just fine they're taking their time, you all turned into the Sleeper dude Wrecking Crew 🤣🤣🤣 little Squeeze looks so adorable with her hair done 👍 Awesome video.
Another guest appearance by Brad Craig. Man you really live the life.
He’s the best

When you stick your head through a small opening in a wall or door, you should say "Here's Johnny!"😁
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am watching this on the toilet I think I need that pry bar!!!! Lol.
Sorry we don’t loan her out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Sleeperdude If you did you wouldn't want it back !! Lol.
I love your family and the process of working on your projects! Keep doing what you do! I will watch...
Thank you! Will do!
So I had to stop half way and pick up later. Essentially you are building an entire NEW RV.
Basically
Because this video is over an hour I had to hold off. On watching it, RUclips stopped showing me the video but I didn’t have time for the full video.
Got it all now.
Awesome that’s for coming back
Sleeperdude family the Minnie Winnie is coming along . Don't forget to come through Oklahoma City
Yes!!
Hey Josh, I have been in the Rv industry for over 20 years, the sealant you want to use is called Butyl Tape, for corners, and Dicor self leveling for the seams on the roof. I am here for you if you have any questions..
Ok great thank you
I forgot to tell you that i tried the Factor meals you showed on last video! 👍👍👍👍👍
Yes I was very surprised. They have great flavor
Good job sleeperduds. You have started a very big job. I look forward to finishing work on the van. Hi from Russia.😉
Awesome thank you
Ya'll are livin' the dream.
👍👍👍
Question: how are you going to cook without gas? Guess you'll be taking cold showers too.
In all seriousness, great video, doing great job on fixing up the ole gal. Thumbs up to waa-waa for all her hard work on striping the foam and old paneling.
Josh be kind to your feet. I wasn't kind to mine and now I've gained neuropathy in both feet. Be careful of your waste water tanks, they're expensive to replace. Looking forward to future videos of the RV repairs.
Thank you so much. We will probably grill outside the camper most of the time
I love how every time you call your dad, Bad Daddy Brad, he says "Its Craig".
Every time
We Enjoy the RV rebuilds! GOD bless, JC
Thanks, you too!
Wow! You guys were not messing around. Great job 👏 👍
Thank you
Pretty cool you took your family to see the country. My Dad did similar in the 1950's. I didn't think people did that anymore.
I try to do things the old way
@@Sleeperdude you and me both brother.😁
@@Sleeperdude Doin stuff like that makes for a better life..and youth for kids..
Rocky Jr. has the coolest markings!
He is handsome
Love seeing your family work togather.
Thank you!
1 min into it and I have concluded that this one is a goner. It is fun to watch your entire family tearing it down.
That was one hell of a week you’all had. Take a day off or two and get back k at it. Look forward to the next video.
Thank you. I wish I had days off.
Not only did I watch till my phone died and have to wait for it to charge but now I want to get the pop up camper trailer my buddy has and try and make it work.
I realize it's content BUT.... you actually took the whole rv apart!
Amazing! ❤ u guys.
Thank you
I love this project it’s great. My wife and I are looking for a small camper to rebuild for ourselves and our two youngest kids. Been watching for a year now and love it.
Thank you we appreciate it
47:27 lol! It’s a known Mexican fact that if you can’t get the sneeze out, look strait up into a light and inhale. Works every time.
🤣🤣🤣
One other trick I was going to tell you is if you ever break down again you can rent a 2-wheel car dolly and a U-Haul half ton Chevy pickup and throw the front of the camper up on and tow it back the only thing I would do is remove the driveshaft like you did before just take it easy and if the fryin is a little too wide normally there is front spacers on it and you can remove them and put the wheels but normally a car dolly is wide enough to fit a dually on on the front end
Ok thanks
@@Sleeperdude yeah no problem don't mean to keep bothering you there is a really nice Ford Fairmont up on marketplace he says it does not run says it only has original 48,000 miles and it's really good on rust and it looks like it from the pictures I tried to send it to you off the sleeper dude 88 on I think you should check it out cuz I know you need some parts I think it's way worth that
Whilst I'm busy with my own channel trying to keep it going I always make time to watch your videos. I really enjoy them. I'm a fellow Tennessean, maybe our paths will cross one of these days!
Ok thank you
This N That Garage is worth a watch, he fixes all sorts of older vehicles in his own unique style.
Great content , I'm looking forward to each family member having their own unique greeting something that the enjoy
Thank you so much
Hi Bud! I'm your fan from Brazil, i love yours videos and cars. You have a lovely family, beautiful kids and nice goats! Congratulations for you channels, every day i look for your news. God bless you and your family ever!!!! best regards from Brazil.
Thank you so much we appreciate it
Super fun show and wow all the kids are growing fast.
Thank you
Tip: The hole by the handle of the caulk gun is used to cut the tip of the caulk cartridge. Stick the plastic tip in the hole and squeeze the handle. Easy peasy.
Oh man. I've got a 1976 Dodge Minnie Winnie. 22ft(er)
And it was(is) in this shape.
It is a prooooject for sure.
They are cool
Thank you so much sleeperdude family for making another great video. Keep up the great content guys.
Thank you
If you go to Texas, Waco is a must stop for all the Chip and Joanna Gaines attractions. If you decide to go to Waco, there are other must stops on the way, like Dublin bottling works in Dublin Texas, and eating at Granny Clark's restaurant. My family and I are nearby as well, if you happen to have trouble. We have a shop and a lift.
Ok awesome that sounds good
The mini Winnie will be safe and sturdy after all that hard work to bring it back to life
Maybe a couple of extra beams across the top for more support for the AC and walking on the top…
Yeah I think you’re right
Came for the cars, stayed for the family (and the hilarious little hand hand). I love you bro.
Saludos 🤝🙏🏻👍👍💪💪👏👍
Thank you so much!!! Keep up the good work
Good to see you Folk’s, Thank you Fishing Clash. Love Catching Them Exotic Fish when it’s In the teens outside with a Deadly Wind Chill.
Yes!!! Thank you
You should prefab the back and install it last. Complete or ruff in the interior when all the big stuff is in and installed close the build with back. As you said, it’s easier to do with the back off.
Good idea
Heck yeah Guys! My Grandpa and Uncles rebuilt a Divco milk truck into a camper in the 70's . I was lucky to enjoy going to Hershey Pa ACAA meets as a little kid in that camper, remember a star trek birthday party in it on the road! Awesome!!!!!!
That is awesome!
Incredible! You guys are so awesome and incredible hard working people. Thank you for the content.
Thank you so much
The Josh and Tosh family rock big time. Also inspector Rocky and granny goat
Thank you
Replace with a 12v a/c. You can run it while driving. Wire in backup camera attach one of those that attach to rear view mirror
Ok thanks
I appreciate you all.
Thank you so much for your generosity 😄
@@Sleeperdude You're welcome Josh.
