In each of the 12 months of 2024, we look forward to unpacking the 'Labours Of Love' digital series, full of materials from our personal archive, including never-seen-before demos, live recordings, images, videos, and more!
Starting on Friday the 12th of January 2024, we're releasing a new four-track digital EP on all major download and streaming platforms on every second Friday of every month. This will be followed by a documentary series via RUclips, with each Episode releasing on the last Friday of every month throughout the year.
Spanning across four decades, the twelve episodes of the series will give all Hue And Cry fans extensive access to behind-the-scenes content, for a full exploration into our memories from working together, performances, experiences, and most importantly, the music. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making these treasured treats!

Coming from Berlin, you were the reason I started studying at Glasgow University and took lessons in English with your guitar player‘s Cousin. Changed my life for ever. Fell in love with Glasgow and your music ever since. Only after listening to your debut album. Obviously music I was searching for throughout the eighties. So much respect and love and gratefulness to the two of you. Thanks for doing this series.

Fascinating background to "Labour of Love" and the Seduced and Abandoned album. I personally think the follow-up single "Strength to Strength" is terrific (as is the single remix of "I, Refuse"). I've always thought the ballad "Human Touch" would have been a good radio-friendly record, but you never put that one out. Would love to hear it live in November.
I've loved your music from the beginning and have all your albums. Saw you unplugged at Sale Waterpark 10 plus years ago. You are both very talented. I remember Gregory saying Pat could sing the phone book and make it sound good. Labour of Love is one of my wife's favourite songs. We were married in 86 and are still together and have just watched your video. Congratulations boys 🎉

Thoroughly enjoying these films, keep them coming please guys! Couldn't believe the quality of the Radio 1 playlist back then, so many classic songs - being in that company with Prince, Crowded House etc, I teach primary kids to songwrite and when they ask me about my favourite songs I always tell them that I like songs about stuff where the lyrics have something to say - this is why I was drawn to Hue & Cry, quality lyrics/musicianship/vocals/production, super excited to see you and the band in Tramshed, Cardiff 👍

Love this, the clarity of recall, 40 years down the line, make this so compelling. To hear the first hand experiences that underpinned that first year you appeared on our screens is wonderfully insightful.

Still loving the music to this day. Favourite gig(s) has to be Remote Weekend back in 2014 - we were lucky enough to be front and centre for the unplugged night on the Friday and then the meet & greet then full big band show on the Sat night. RIP O2 ABC Glasgow.

This was a fantastic episode - so much happened in a short space of time - almost hard to believe some of the breaks - like a Hollywood screenwriter got a bit too high one night and just stretched the plausibility a bit to much. Don't beat yourself up for flying on Concorde - a beautiful dream of transport at the time - and Exxon Mobil were still busy burying the truth on climate change except for the really well-informed. Amazing the amount of continental flights you racked up in-between playing the media gigs and trying to get the first album completed. All worth it though - 'Seduced and Abandoned' still stands up today to plenty of re-listening. The video for 'Labour of Love' still works in that quirky, smart off-kilter way! Who knew that the Cinzano advert would have a link in there!

*New Subscriber* That was great ! I was just turning 16 summer of 87. Remember seeing you on Wogan. Boughtt he album on cassette and played it all the time. Fantastic stuff, I remember Greg bought a very powerful car back in the day... I was a car nut, I made the mistake of going for a whirl with him around the Saltmarket in it... It was an experience.

Great stuff gents. Fascinating episodes so far. Looking forward to hearing more about the infamous lost 3rd album (I remember you performing some of the songs at a gig in Birmingham in late 1989). Hoping that album will be available in digital form at some point. Cheers!

@@MarcoRaimondi-it Thanks for asking Marco. As u know we had written 12 pop/funk tracks for a new album after 'Remote', but the record company rejected them all. They didn't want a pop/funk album ... they wanted something more 'chilled' from us ... hence Stars Crash Down. GK
