I’ll never understand people who love to bash. I feel like there are a lot of followers in the world who think creators always have their best interest at heart. That’s not the case. I personally have worked with First Texas products, Garrett and NOKTA at different points in time. Garrett is my go to because I like their machines, they’re family owned and American made. The only way I could respect a creator bashing a machine as mentioned is if they own it. Otherwise it’s all for selfish gain as to why a video is released because that creator does not have the details or facts they would rather spread misinformation.

WOW. Finally someone that’s not afraid to call out these haters and bashers.
I have had many go arounds with these guys since Garrett has released the Vortex. Yes I AM a Garrett user and supporter but I also like and appreciate and respect the other brands out there. I choose to use Garrett products based on MY choice not the choice of some wannabe influencer.
The guy that most of us are referring to HATES Garrett products. I watched him take an AT Pro and an Apex and slam them into a trash can. Really. Grow up.
Guys like Quarter Hoarder I watch and have full respect for. He loves his Nokta products and does a great job promoting them but you will NEVER hear him bash any other brand or company. He promotes and educates people on the products that he uses.
Great video Brandon. I’m looking forward to getting my Vortex.

I am reserving judgement on this detector until I actually use it. I have seen it in person when Brandon and I detected together at an 1830s ghost town of mine. I was using the Manticore with the M8 coil and we checked each others targets. I can say there was nothing I could hear he couldn’t or visa versa even though he was using the stock coil.
Is this a bad machine? I don’t think it is and considering it is still being changed with updates I would say keep your eye on it. I think everyone is passionate about keeping the makers on their toes to get the best machine for our community. Do I think someone should be fired? No but that all takes care of itself if it under performs.
I would point out the price point of the detector and keep that in mind. As for features I am going to see what happens when we get an actual production model to use and test. I would caution everyone to do the same and keep an open mind. I would swing a pink detector if it has better performance though.
While nail test are ok for measuring how detectors perform they are not conclusive as nails in the ground are going to be very different.
With all that being said having seen the earlier prototype being used it didn’t seem like a bad detector especially for the money. From a dealer standpoint point there are things I do not like but those things honestly have zero to do with performance and more on the business side of things and us not having the ability to sell the user the upgrade. I hope that will change but I get it from the Garrett point of view too.
I am excited to test this detector when a FINAL version is released to the public. This is what will tell the story, if it is a good machine sales will tell the story. If not then it will also be apparent.
I will say the Manticore had some major issues at launch but the update really changed things with it too. So updates are something to remember how they change a detector.

@@GlassFamilyHomestead I can see where the "you should all be fired" part could rub some people the wrong way. Garrett never said they would add an iron filter/bias setting until after ww3 broke out. When the Legend came out people said they were copying Minelabs features.... Then minelab started releasing machines with a flashlight and vibration features. I don't use those features but an automatic noise cancel is a must for me. Every end user has their personal preference. Being able to upgrade to the next model is very innovative. Hopefully the other companies will follow Garrett's lead on that one. The thin coins mode will probably also be copied by other brands. That will be really popular in Europe.

I really like the way you composed yourself with this! I've been watching your videos for a while and I am with you.
I have a vortex coming and am looking forward to using it.
Hers am interesting fact, I have made some tests like th big guys do on the internet and compared alot of machines. The fact is if there are masked targets in your place you are detecting you better dig it all.
There are so many people out there just listening for that perfect signal. And I love those people. In fact I spend most of my time detecting "hunted out" sites just to dig the iffy signals. I get so many suprises and it never gets old!

As a Minelab user I think the Vortex is going to be a great machine. I even like that the frequencies choice that Garrett selected. And the chubby fellow who thinks he is a expert is a fool for calling people to be fired because he doesn’t like the detector. Funny part is lots of people set their detectors up in 5 or less tones because all the tones are confusing so his point on it is mute. Funny parry is Minelab engineers even laughed at his coin test for recovery speed because it really doesn’t show anything other then it beeps fast.

I got sucked into this and didnt even realize it. The person's video you are referring to popped up in my suggested so I gave it a watch not even realizing he didnt own the machine he was bashing. You have a lot of knowledge and wisdom on things most of us do not even pay attention to. I really appreciate you sharing that with the community. I love my Minelab Equinox and my 10 year old son, Mason, loves his Nokta Legend, but we both started together using the Garrett Ace 250 and we loved that machine too. Obvious proof that people should just use what they like. Heck my 10 year old has found some stuff most adults will never find. I appreciate this channel and the info you put out more with every episode I watch. You have helped me convince myself to go back and delete my comment on his channel, not that i took place in any company bashing cause i wouldnt but also dont want any connection to it either. Garrett is an awesome company and we love their products but most of all their employees and the people they sponsor. Our Garrett carrots have found some of the most incredible pieces of history people would only dream to find. Keep the information flowing Brandon, we find it very educational my friend.

I don’t adopt bashing, but we have to admit, some of what they point out, like on the Nokta Legend, led to updates that fixed problems that even the engineers did not find. So like it or not, the same improvements or updates for this Garrett, are only being done becathey point them out. I’m a neutral outsider. My first detector was a Garrett master hunter in 1973, and owned a few others, then an AT pro, which was the best bang for the buck at the time, was too front heavy for me, so I sold it to a friend. I’ve owned at least 100 machines and that is probably an under estimate, with Minelab being my favorite performer on salt, but hated the poor quality and ergonomics. Deus has been one of my favorite of all time, quality and light weight but deus one, no salt performance. The Deus 2 I love, but have yet to get it to run smooth on the salt beaches like everyone else seems to. I have a Legend that owned since its release. I like it but struggling with navigating the menu, but the last two buttons I found were with it, in single frequency because of EMI, of which Deus 2 stinks at canceling. I’m rooting hard for Garrett to produce a real winner in price, performance, quality, service. It was sad White’s went under but since the eagle 2 s/l 90 1/2, they went backwards in performance. Beach hunter ID, (joke). V3i, crappy on salt too. Enough ranting, hope Garrett tweaks it until it hangs with the other SMF machines. I personally LOVE THE BLUE. The first blue water machine I loved, just not for water, was the TEKNETICS S/T. 34 or so years later, still my favorite ALL METAL for deep relics, so far ahead of its time, but poor design that rubber boots over switches to waterproof it. In 51 years, I’ve seen a lot and hope this new Garret is an eventual winner. Thanks

Agree. I’ve used Garrett’s for years. But,this machine does not have features that a 300.00 machine has . If you’re going to put a new machine out, at least equal what your competitors can do. If I was going to put out a new product, I would send beta machines to calabash, iffy signals or tnsharpshooter for an evaluation before I introduced it to the public. Not to paid marketers and board members. It appears Garrett didn’t do their homework.

For whats its worth. I think garratt have done an excellent job thinking outside the box with the new detector, making it upgradable, helping new people to the hobby and making it a good all-around detector. If they upgrade sound options and colour options, i think they would make a lot more money. Kinda like what gaming companies do with packages you can buy. I have owned garratt detectors since the old master hunter and ads and i think garratt has to be one of my all time favourite companies for their innovation and customer service and commitment to their great products. My Atx new pulse makes me smile every time i use them. Sound on my new pulse is like the minelab but i must say i prefer it so yea sound upgrades so you can select would be a great optional upgrade too :) respect to you guys there at garratt for your dedication and great work. As an experienced traveling shallow saltwater treasure hunter, who has used every machine, I was about to pre-order 2 or 4 Vortex V9s. But before doing so, I called Garrett. I explained my experience, that so far the simple Minelab Excalibur has by far found the most gold jewelry, that I like simple in the surf, and all I wanted to know how the Vortex performed in saltwater. That I was set to order/get in line for several V9s. The nice woman at Garrett couldn't answer 1 question. I pushed and was transferred to a higher up. I explained my world experience. That I was about to order several V9s, but only if they performed well in surf. In a jovial manner he admitted he had not yet used a V9. What? That I should postpone my order and wait until the general public reports on the V9, and not their testers. What? Garrett has changed.

Its probably blue like the sea because its alot like the Apex and i think that was the apex strongest preforming enviroment The Beach. It coped really well in mineral rich sand and salt water. I have not owned a Vortex but im guessing by looks of the control unit that its based on the Apex but probably built and improved upon. So i guess it will exel on the beach just as the apex did. That could be behind the colour choice? Who knows?

New subscriber… I think that all the detectors have a place in the hobby. I still use the vanquish metal detector. Not everyone needs a water proof detector . Or 100 tones or tone breaks etc. etc. I only do parks, volleyball courts occasionally the beach when I vacation there. T I think too many people get caught up in the hype of the new detector s on the market and feel the need to run out and buy one. I’m not brand loyal. Right now I use a mine lab, when it needs replaced I might go with a Garrett or Nokta. My goal is to just get out and have fun. Happy hunting everyone.

As I was writing my Garrett experience response here, you were bragging about finding more treasure with rods? Huh? I know nothing about you, but, how many pieces of gold and platinum jewelry have you found? I have found thousands of pieces of gold, silver and platinum with my metal detectors. I try most machines. So far none find as much as the simple Minelab Excalibur. You should join us on our next Caribbean trip, and bring your rods, or whatever you use. That would be interesting for sure! Perhaps you can tell us how well the Vortex performs in shallow saltwater? Can you? I do not care about the color. Nor the settings. I don't care about tones. All I care about is performance in saltwater. Will the Vortex run stable in saltwater? Will it hit gold rings at 14 inches deep in wet salt sand? Will the V9 hit gold chains? Sorry about your dog.😢

I have not used the Vortex in Salt Conditions yet. I will be heading to the Florida coast in the next month or so and will be trying it out on camera. I agree the Excalibur is a great machine even though it was released 2 decades ago. Just shows new technology is not everything. I am a bottle digger and probe out dumps and privies that’s the steel rod I was mentioning. My point from the video was all it takes is research and a shovel and you can find stuff.

Garrett buys whites then releases new machines that are touted to have technology never seen before but the Axium sounds just like the TDI pro and this sounds like the V3 🤷‍♂️ in the end they are toys for finding trinkets. If you are close to Garland Texas and detect with groups you have met people using the beta test Vortex detectors.

At last! Common sense!!!!! You're not a Haveabash Digger 🙂Seriously though its all about choice. Some people dont want or need a detector that has 100 settings that they dont know how to, or understand what they mean.
I have been detecting since 1977, I have used and owned nearly every leading detector there is and has been. What I have learnt from all this, its not about which detector you own, its about choosing a detector thats right for you and your sites, then learning it, and above all good search technique.
If someone wants to make videos of coins being waved in front of a coil like they are watching a porn video then good for them 🙂

I watched a live by a popular RUclipsr who does lives and the negative innuendos said toward Garrett’s new machine were ridiculous! I stopped watching and it’s kind of turned me off. That’s not what my MD community is about

Think we need to let general public decide how good a detector is, and not take what RUclipsrs say, as gospel. As RUclipsrs generally have a vested untested in a particular product. Especially sponsorship. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, so to speak

Kalabash bashed the Vortrex for not having ground tracking... So you trust ground tracking on an IB detector?

    • @GlassFamilyHomestead
      @GlassFamilyHomestead  Месяц назад

I personally have had issues with losing depth while using ground tracking in the past.

    • @GoGoDetectorGadget
      @GoGoDetectorGadget Месяц назад

When I first started detecting some of the guys I hunt with told me not to trust ground tracking. I always consider what others have to say but I have a condition where I have to experience it before it's real. Now I can truly say ground tracking is more of a problem than its worth. There are several scenarios where it will result in false information. So when I heard Calabash hammer Garret for no ground tracking; I knew how irrelevant his knowledge/experience is. Maybe he really does know it cannot be trusted and is just wanting to be popular. Either way I lost any respect for him as a detectorist.

Who cares…as you say, they are opinions. I don’t watch the drama queens…not sure why you felt this video was even necessary. Garrett, unfortunately, brought some of this on themselves. They hyped the heck out of this thing and have since been holding back on the details. Some would say that is “silly”.

@TheHistoryDigger1 As mentioned I don’t get hurt feelings so this is just in conversation. This needed to be addressed. People need to be held accountable for what they put on the internet.

Why buy any new machine then if all you need is skills? My first machine was from Radio Shack maybe I should have kept it and assisted it with a pokey stick I could have saved several thousand dollars over the years, I guess I just suck.
