Try Lechon from the Philippines. It is a full-sized adult pig, but there is a smaller version of it. The skin is also crispy, it is also cooked over the fire, but the cooking process is a little different since they rotate the pig on a stake to ensure the pig is cooked evenly.

Thats why you have the veggies with the pig to balance it out, when they say it’s to cut the fat it’s not a myth or assumption it’s literally what it’s there for. Gonna add something here, these people who are saying “but it’s a whole pig what is the greens going to do” are probably not asians. It’s engrained in Asian culture to have balance in our meals and even a small amount of greens/acid can go a very long way.
I have never been a big *foodie* but I love cooking for my family and watching them enjoy it. This ability would take a lot of work and time to build the talent. You did awesome Joel.
That's a small one. Made for one person. It was a staple item for all events when I was growing up. We had a makeshift giant rotisserie to make this. The pig was put on a steel bar with a steering wheel affixed to one end. Everyone would take turns spinning it. We upgraded to a 2-cycle engine with a chain to turn it years later. Haven't seen it made that way for decades since relocating to the states. Good memories!
What a contrast when I see those beautiful meals in Bangkok and then think back to the time you were doing a two-person challenge with a pizza with meat on it that had turned.
I come from Yong's channel. I'm Thai , and I enjoyed the video that you collab with him. Joel has so much attractiveness. I like to see more of your content. Keep it up. 🙌
Been watching you for awhile now like years one of my favorite food channels and the fact he always eats veggies first for the kids is so thoughtful! Keep up the good work
That's a piglet to be accurate. A whole piglet. Not a whole pig because that would be 4x that at least lol. But still that's just insane to eat that all.

Hi I'm a fan of Yong channel after watch his video I know that I have to see your channel, I really like your way of eating nothing waste if you eat it I never see anyone eat a Tomahawk the whole dish even the rosemary I'm very impressive.
Hi Joel. I am from South Africa and love watching your channel. I am not aware of any food challenges but if you do come to SA there are two foods you have to try. One is the famous Durban bunny chow, and the second is South African biltong. Thanks.
To everyone complaining about out it being a baby piglet. Get over it it’s a delicacy in Thailand and Joel is there doing a challenge. Where do you think meat comes from? People amaze me with their stupidity anymore!
Exactly. Perhaps the only real people with the right to complain is vegetarian or vegans and even then they should respect everyone's choice to eat meat as long as its not an endangered species or similar then we should all respect peoples choices. Plus, videos like this are good for local tourism.
...and 'that's a lot of food'... jeez what was the pig seasoned with? why didn't he ask for extra orange slices for palate cleansers? why not take a bite of chips and bread with the pork to see how it goes together? There was plenty of time for interesting commentary, but like you say the main thing that ended up being illuminated is that suckling pig is fatty and rich. Could have worked that out from the thumbnail !

I have had it at Christmas once but you guys from the Philippines haven’t heard of the classic American pig roast.
It’s basically the same.
🤣😂 I picture Joel now telling people that he is sometimes so hungry he could eat a whole entire pig
As long as he doesn't say I'm so hungry I could eat a horse

Why would they be judgemental towards their piggy bank?
Thats why you have the veggies with the pig to balance it out, when they say it’s to cut the fat it’s not a myth or assumption it’s literally what it’s there for.

Yeah but I think he minds food combinations he has to finish it anyway 😅
Acidic dipping sauces help as well. Acid cuts fat which is why a lot of people put pickled things as a pairing with items.
30,000 calories, yep, that salad balanced it nicely
