You SHOULD expose every restaurant that throws you out. If they promise all you can eat, then it should be all you can eat. And should be exposed for their behaviour to their customers. *EDIT* : This comment has blown up, i still think Joel should expose the restuarant. You are givin us nice places to eat, reviewing the food and give good scores. But the bad places? You never expose them. You have almost 1 mil subs Joel. We want to know the bad and the good places!
@@michaelstephens9852 Exactly! So what if they lose like ten dollars on his one meal, the free advertising is worth so much more. Some business owners are extremely short sighted and i would never eat at this place
If they have a “policy” that is not literally “all you can eat”, they should clearly display what that “policy” entails. That was not handled professionally at all!
No it was not because of filming all of the all you can eat buffet places say you can eat all that you can eat but they always try to get you out as soon as possible they will use any reason to get you out when they want you gone. The all you can eat thing is a joke just to get customers. If something in policy I would ask them to show me the part of the policy. They did not do it for filming as the person stated we have to cut you off basically saying you can only have so much and that's it your cut off so not all you can eat
This happened to my three uncles. They went to an all you can eat fried chicken place in Chicago. Several servings in, the owner came over and asked them to leave. Difference is, owner said they didn't have to pay.
I think that if the agreement is for you to pay to eat "all you can eat" and the restaurant doesn't not allow you to eat "all you can eat" then you should not have to pay. THEY broke the contract.
@@jakethedog4397 no, that's not a thing happens. Businesses are in full control of what they offer and for how much. No business owner would allow their restaurants to bankrupt for this reason. Some places have a different price for pro eaters, others have time limits, etc. Whatever they decide to do for their business is fine, all I'm saying is that they should stick to it... and if they don't, the customer should not have to pay. Also, if 1 person hurts their business, they were already in bad shape and should probably move towards a menu with higher profit margins.
Kicking a customer out while eating is very bad luck for the restaurant. They have cursed themselves. Well done for conducting yourself with honor and good manners. You are blessed Joel.
honour and manners - where do those two attributes factor in? when he was wiping the meat in tissue? drowning every morsal in condiments? when he politely asked for an explanation before bytching on the internet? maybe the honour is the bit where he sits on the upload for a while and then posts it as a bit of civil unrest is brewing? i'm going to have to look up those two words cause i clearly dont understand the meaning of them.
joel knows exactly what hes doing by stepping in there. say it was all you can eat for 20, but then joel walks in and eats more than maybe about 20 pounds of food. joel YOUR not normal you eat way more than usual, no flame to this place. they have they right and you made your fill and it wasnt even 20 bucks. be humble dude. WOW!!!!
Listen. This guy is always respectful and curtious. He doesnt film staff or customers. He always finishes everything. To be kicked out is a huge red flag and id personally never go to eat there.
This is what I just wrote. People do not understand that if he exposed this place for one bad situation, it could shut it down, and cause folks to lose their jobs. Better just to let it go and move on.
He was anything but respectful from the beginning about the food. Maybe they heard him shitting all over their food and had enough. I think Joel should keep the positive vibes…if the food sucks, maybe dont upload that video. Seems to me lately Joel is making more & more of these “controversial” videos. Restaurants are gonna suck from time to time… Videoing yourself telling hundreds of thousands of viewers how crap your food is, is pretty classless imo.
If only they could understand that your video would be a great advertisement for them, they could have made a bunch of money from new customers trying it out. But since they did you dirty you didn't share what the location was, which is polite of you for not exposing them. THEIR LOSS!
A lot of buffets serving that category of food don't last very long. There are a lot of them everywhere. Many of them not very good anyway. I haven't been to a good buffet of that type in a long time.
I always think the same thing. Even if he ate triple the amount of food as others, it would be the cheapest advertising they ever received. They would have been inundated with new customers wanting to try it out. He has a way of making the food look real tasty.
@@ecarroll3723 this is the only comment that makes sense, would it be a lot of free advertising like most videos are? ya, but he said oily 1500 times lol
Honestly, my heart broke seeing your face when they asked you to leave. 🥺 I wish you would’ve asked them to tell you why they were kicking you out (although it’s obvious), but having them admit that they’re full of crap & are false advertising would’ve been great! You’re way too nice & respectful! I hope you never have to be treated like that again! God bless you 🙏🏼♥️
I agree they should be exposed but I'm humbly impressed by the way you reacted Joel it's taking me many years to learn patience and to become humble and not just freak out or snap on every person that's an idiot you handled yourself like a true gentleman kudos to you brother
If it's an all you can eat, then it shouldn't be limited. They could always say it's an all you can eat up to 20 full plates for example, otherwise it's false advertising. Mad props for your calm demeanor. Completely respect that you maintain that at all costs.
Come on man be reasonable this dude stuff's face he eats more than a family would eat. It's ridiculous. If he's going to eat that much he should pay for like five people this goes to show how many Americans are into stuffing their faces like seriously.. we need Jesus Christ man we don't need to sit around and stuff our faces and talk about food all day man doesn't live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God
If they don't impose a time limit or an obviously signed rule/condition then it's all you can eat and you can demand your money back. Seriously I've had 3 out of court settlements over this kind of thing. Basically all I do is go to all you can eat places and strike fear into the hearts of the employees and owners. I play my own theme music when I wheel myself in.
I can't believe they cut you off as they gave you the check !! They must remember the children and the older folks that eat very little. It's simply the way it goes. Anyway, you are a gentleman and I appreciate your demeanor even though this was totally wrong.
That's exactly what I was thinking -- it all works out. There are some people who don't eat very much at all, and others who eat more. It's not going to hurt them that he's eating a lot because there will be 10 people that night who will eat half a plate of food and be done.
The only thing i can think of is either greed played a role, or was a struggling business. I've watched many of foodies enjoy buffets to their full extent. Have only heard of being kicked out for staying over 2 hours. Sorry Joel, i know it was a let down, love the positive attitude
The only buffet I've ever seen kick people out for eating too much is a Chinese food buffet. I'm sorry, but I would have outed them. If they want to false advertise, you should save other people the issues and let them know who they are.
AWKWARD!!! 😮💨 Felt I was getting kicked out with you. I’m so glad the buffets at Vegas - like when you ate all the lobster- I think that was The Palms- treated you well! ❤
@@jj1kq That is stupidly reductionist. You don't just blow off a business's arbitrary decision to *not* serve somebody with a snide, off-the-cuff statement like that.

Joel, you should ask them, WHY? When they cut you off! She said it’s their “policy”, I think that was a chance to make them elaborate on that too, cause we thought their policy is ALL YOU CAN EAT 😁
Yep, I would've asked why as well. Something tells me that the waitress made the call and not the business. Sounds like a power hungry employee. She sounded so smug.
My late husband and his stepdad were eating at a mom n pop buffet place one time, and the manager came out. He made some small talk and they told him they were moving from TX to TN. They laughed until they couldn’t catch their breath at his reaction. The manager turned back toward the kitchen and yelled, “It’s okay, Ma! We don’t have to shut down! They’re just passing through!” 😄
You were eating into their profits! 😂 However you could definitely have asked politely for an explanation as you’ve paid for all you can eat - although they wouldn’t be able to give you one! 😂
I'm so sorry you went through this. Maybe they shouldn't advertise their buffet as all you can eat. Had to be embarrassing. Don't let it get to you. They just missed out on free advertising. Keep doing what you do. I love your videos. Good thing you aren't a food critic for a publication. They are ruthless with their reviews.
And he should probably let them know he's a competitive eater who only showed up to demolish as much food as possible even if he's not really hungry. It works both ways.
@@Astros-dz4bxevery person has different appetite levels. My x-husband is a HUGE man. Like all his friends who are also enormous, and there by BIG eaters. The restaurant handled this badly. How much people eat varies quite a lot. The under eaters make up for the over eaters. It balances out and if they use words like "eat all you can" to draw people in then they should damn well honour it. You handled it like a gent Joel :)

OMG the shock face. I'm so sorry you had to go through this, I personally never had an experience live that, the closest I was was in an all you can eat boneless buffet and had 8 individual orders and the waitress was giggling everytime I asked for another plate. Hopefully you wont get this type of experiences that often. Stay strong and love your vids.
That's what I was thinking.... he does this on purpose, he's obviously eating an enormous amount. Why is he recording anyway, this isn't a competition?
I owned a successful sushi bar for 15 wonderful years. We never advertised in any way... Except our customers word of mouth and all our customers always came back time and again. The only promotion we did, was a a seasonal all you can eat, top of the line, sushi buffet... Most food, was made to order .. Some people are a lot... Some, not so much. We wanted everyone to try everything. Find what you love and come back and bring your friends. Yes.. our food costs were very high for those events, but it made for so many incredible, Sushi Blues nights. And always made us new customers, new fans and new friends.
Thats why it was a success. Sure, an all you can eat buffet can be really expensive for the restaurant but the ammount of guests you will end up getting and like you said finding out by word of mouth will increase the number of guests in AYCEB in season as much as out of season and can easily rake in twice if not thrice the ammount of revenue. Great food, great treatment is invaluable for me when it comes to visiting a restaurant. Im very glad you had such wonderful years with the restaurant and im willing to bet MANY people still have fond memories of everything it had to offer.
@@evilloki85 thank you ... Yes. I work 40-60 hours a week... In my retirement, as a personal chef as well as catering sushi nights for former customers .. btw... And as it should be, the love of food and felt through food should be shared. I love that you did this! (Coming from a sushi lover) It’s about more than the bottom line, even though that of course comes into play. Treat your customers right and you won’t have to worry.
He makes his money from eating. I can understand his not wanting to get into an argument about it, besides he's a gentleman. Personally, I'd have named the place.
Me and my 3 team mates got kicked out of two all you can eat places. One was a Korean BBQ place that told us we passed the two hour limit. Even though there was no signs anywhere indicating there was a limit and the other was a breakfast place that told us to save some food for the other guests. My friends are over 6’5 tall and over 250lbs and I am 5’8 200lbs. There was 4 of us and only one of you. You must have put away more than us. You are a beast man, I love your channel!
I respect that you don’t want to oust the particulars of this establishment. You have genuine Grace for a competitive eater in a AYCE buffet let alone a a normal human being.
I’ve seen people leave a lot of food on their plate and go pile on another one. You finished everything with 0 waste. That really sucks, but it might be saving Grace. Stay blessed!
All you can eat unless you're a competitive eater like Joel lol! No idea what their problem was. They should have treated Joel with more respect than that. He could easily have buried their business via his channel but I guess he has too much class for that.
My goodness, you are always so polite and calm. Some things arent worth the time, but businesses that falsely advertise should be exposed. Sorry that happened, bud.
It's not about "exposing" businesses that false advertise. They need to be educated, not exposed. What if the owners (for example) are an older immigrant couple running a business, and they aren't familiar with podcasts, or competitive eaters. Not everyone knows these things or thinks them through. Joel knows he can "destroy" their buffet or damage their profits or ruin their finances. What if they're poor and barely making it? They should be educated, not exposed. He knows he is a professional eater, he needs to be the bigger man.
@@jj1kq they shouldnt be lying tho. if they say its "all you can eat" then it doesnt matter if he is able to eat more than most people. They should eat their pride and let him finish. Just because he can eat alot more than most people, its not gonna make them go bankrupt. If you didnt notice there are other customers in the shop. Im pretty sure they didnt lose a single cent on this guy, yet they still kicked him out.
@@SilentJoNn True, that's a great point. I totally agree, I think it's false advertising. I think they could have explained it better to him better before kicking him out or cutting him off. But as far as their profit, it's hard for us to assume what their profit margin is. Most buffets don't make very much and that's with normal eaters (he ate 12-13 plates, lol). Profit before pride. Laws exist to protect the business in case they don't have disclaimers, I was just railing against people who were saying "sue them" and "I'm going to leave them crappy reviews". I don't think that's fair.
That's how the small business like a independent owned buffet makes a profit margin to keep them in business. I can guarantee Joel ate at least 4x+ times the cost of the buffet in food. I am not saying its good etiquette to kick out a paying patron but you need to understand these business make very little profit with all the overhead involved including food, labor, Utilities, rent, etc.. Joel has 700k followers on RUclips and he probably clears $10-$30k a month in income which dwarfs what these small business can generate in profit.
@MakeMoney-zh7uc It's all you can eat for normal people. Not for professional eaters. Lol... Could you imagine someone on an ebike on a freeway saying, it says motor vehicles allowed!
Several years ago, my buddy and I had a similar experience at a Scandinavian, all you can eat, buffet. This was a place we had eaten at several times before, really liked the food, and never had any problem. On this day we had probably been on our 3rd. plate when the owner actually came to us and told us we had to leave because we eat too much. And also, don't come back?? About a month later, I went by the restaurant and saw that it was closed down. My assumption was that they may have been having financial problems, that led to the closing, and may have been venting on us because of that.
I think you handled the situation very well. It must have been humiliating for you and the staff that cut you off. You didn’t make it ugly and you are requesting that no one expose them. ❤
I just realized I turned into one of those people that watch people eat. I feel like this is as low as watching people sleep. Fuck it you’re a whole vibe my friend.
The owner/manager could at least have the decency to come to the table, instead of hiding behind the waitress. Ah well, their loss of a good advertisement.
Why? He eats for 10 people and pays for one, how can he be surprised if they stop him? Why doesn't he tell them he is a pro eater? He could negociate a reasonable price. There's two possibilities. One: He knows exactly what he is doing and how they are going to react, which means he wants them to get upset, so he can make content out of it. Or he is a total, oblivious idiot. I personally think he is not a stupid guy.
@@sziszykeso you go to AYCE where it says “All you can eat buffet”. Being most places do not tell you there’s a limit on how much you can eat, but there is a limit on how long you can stay. @@QargZer It's the least they could do! I wouldn't have eaten there in the first place if I had known it wasn't _really_ "all you can eat" and on top of that with the embarrassment of being asked to leave. A fair compromise is the places where they make you pay for food left on your plate. If you take it and then can't eat it, you pay extra for it. That's fair.

Joel, back in the day me and my friends ate out a lot. We averaged 4 restaurants an evening for full meals, not counting somewheres for desert. Often we would get cut off from ordering too much food. We were polite, tipped well and fully understood that you can't tie up a table sitting around shooting the breeze. But we were spending money! Never could understand this. My favorite dish is a very hard to find Lotus Root Soup. I found a place that had it and right away ordered 5 soups. I decided I wanted two more orders of soup and was told they would not sell me anymore! I assume its so other customers get some too, but it still feels funny to be cut off. Don't feel bad......feel badass! YOU are the King of food, and you strike fear into buffets! What would I do? If I liked the food, I'd go back. Great video, thanks!
It’s bizarre because literally if someone is there ordering and paying for the food 99% of business do first come first serve because they never know if they will be able to sell that product to anyone else given it’s a specific item. This is bull if they are going to limit all you can eat they need to say “as much food as you can fit on three plates” or “we cut you off after three plates.” It’s that simple. Also that waitress sounded like a snooty biss.

I’d disagree, I saw more veggies and fruits being devoured. The two hibachi plates were about the only cooking the chef did and that’s nothing. I didn’t see much of the regular buffet items get eaten.
They will NEVER suffer a loss because of one guy that eats a lot, simply because there are gonna be a lot of people that eat a lot less and they recoup the so called loss. All you can eat should be all you can eat,if not then they need to explicitly tell you that. I went to a all you can eat pork ribs spot in my country, ate 11 huge ribs and they kept asking me if i want more :)) mind you it was VERY cheap, but the ribs tasted amazing, the bbq sauce was homemade and tasted amazing and the meat was super tender. So definitely worth the money. But not everyone can eat 11ribs, my sister for example barely ate 2. That's my point, they will recoup the "loss" from other customers that can't actually eat that much

It was handled professionally.
Thats why it was a success. It's not about "exposing" businesses that false advertise. They need to be educated, not exposed. Yeah..lol .his first time ever recording himself eating ( non challenge)... 🤔
LOL! Have you ever considered becoming a competitive eater?
Joel is always respectful, even when he doesn't need to be. You love to see it.
Yeah, very respectful.
His goal is to demolish as much food as possible in a buffet that operates on thin margins and charges him $16 after tax.
Such a great respectful individual who wants to put the poor buffet owner out of business.
You have much integrity, Joel. Not only for your protective discretion, but for agreeing to pay full price for something that was promised to you but not delivered. I know that many people may not understand your choices here, but that is also understandable.
You wore the perfect shirt that day! You Work Hard at what you do and…..you put God First with the amazing way you handled the situation! I feel for you. I don’t think you overate. Your plates weren’t overflowing. It’s just sad to have your meal end in such an unpleasant manner!
Doesn't God say Gluttony is sinful?
Honestly would serve them right if you did out them. Seriously, they advertised all you can eat, you paid for all you can eat, and you get asked to leave? No way.
@CR7-uc5js Not his problem? It's all you can eat not all the average person can eat. If they want to limit it they need to make it clear.
it's the risk they take for offering an "ALL YOU CAN EAT" buffet.... like wtf? Don't write checks you can't cash. Plain and simple@@apollozid
@@hmars2164you need to get a few years under your belt to figure out how the world actually works junior. By your standards, you could just stay all day because, after all, they don’t advertise time limits - right?
i got kicked out of an all you can eat sushi place one time. The owner was pissed. I can eat $1000 worth of sushi. haha
@mixedmartialanarchist6469 😂 Sure because it's the same thing. I'm not going to argue this, I have my opinion and I stand by it. ✌️
Prices are high these days. Fortune cookie was spot on. It's unreasonable to expect to pay 15$ an get 500$ worth of good. That's just over expecting and unrealistic. Very selfish and rediculas. You paid 16$ for a 200$ meal be happy an give then the thanks they deserve
You're better than I, dude. I would have thrown this place under the bus. You're a classy dude, Joel.
There is no "right" to stay in other peoples' places, shops or businesses. It's not YOUR place and it's not a public spot.
@@Bekkaye01 they had the right to do what they dide but ... Restaurants are only as good as their staff. And these people are short sighted. Being plugged by Joel would attracted more people to their establishment and made more money than they would have lost by him eating a little more than other people. Also, maybe he would have bought drinks or something else that's not included in the all you can eat. That's how theatres make money. Not so much with the tickets but with the inflated prices of snacks. like Popcorn, candies and drinks.
@@jeanny003 If I see him eat, it makes me 🤮Not everybody appreciates greed and gluttony.
than don't sit near him. And like he said in the video, he wasn't snarfing it down like at a food eating contest, he was tasting everything and commenting on it. But like you said, they have a right to refuse service. But it doesn't seem like a good idea for a restaurant in these times to act like this. Everything is more and more expensive and less and less people go to restaurants because it costs too much. Bad reviews can shut these guys down. You should thank Joel for not divulging your restaurant's name and place. Good day.@@Bekkaye01
"Classy dude" wouldn't have been a douche and did what he did. Stick to challenges.
That is insane. All you can eat means all you can eat
How dare you eat all you can eat at an ALL YOU CAN EAT restaurant 😂 but, Chinese AYCE establishments are notorious for doing that. I got booted for eating 5 plates once and it wasn’t even 5 plates of the “expensive” items lol good on you for the positive attitude Joel you da man.
I'd refuse to pay
only in the u.s. never happens in uk
I wonder how much u weigh

its very simple........u get cut off cause u eat too much n ur making them lose money
@@bensonlee7456 damm bro you burn so many calories a day lol.
The $5 worth of food they saved by kicking you out of the restaurant at that point is hilarious poor optics.
I doubt he even ate 16 dollars worth in the first place.
You're a simpleton like Joel. What a brat. And you too.
it's like.. its a pretty big youtuber you should let him eat all he wants then get a free promo for the restaurant.

Joel, I appreciate your attitude in a very confusing situation. Well done.
Joel I just had to put another comment on here and I think what you should do if it's close to Dan, Molly and maybe they can take Andy with them as well, send them to this restaurant and let's see if they get kicked out and let's see how that owner like what those 3 can do to his bottom line... Again Joel you're a better man then I am for not disclosing the location of this restaurant...
So sorry that happened to you, you handle it so very well.
I knew a fellow that had the same problem in an all you can eat casino in Nevada... they didn't like how much lobster he was capable of consuming.
I think they were very wrong, same as in your case! all you can eat is a draw for big eaters, they should expect to get a few from time to time.
you handled things eloquently as always; I hope this never happens to you again. Keep doing what you do, I love your videos.
Watching this guy get kicked out of all you can eat places has gotta be my favorite RUclips video genre
Not the first time this has occurred. In the 1980s I knew someone who attended an all you can eat buffet. After consuming over 100 oysters, he was asked to leave because there simply wasn't enough and other guests complained. He didn't have to pay and really didn't mind. He later laughed and said how many people can consume that many oysters? Well, we now know of at least one person. 😂
My problem is why not tell us the restaurant cause if they did it to you while your filming what are they going to do to random people It's shady business practices to advertise ayce then kick someone out
He scared.
I'm done watching his videos. This was exactly my thought. Tell us so we don't get the bad end of the stick. Bad practices from both parties. I love his videos too so this sucks, but if he cant inform his community then heart your comment with no response, I am done. Moving on
@@iseevapor3781 he had a random woman walk up and say that.
@@iseevapor3781even if he told us restaurant, pretty sure no one would get kicked out unless your a professional eater. You really think you can eat like Joel?! 😂Most people would be done after a few plates and small plate of fruits to end the meal.
FYI, Joel is not a random person. On his casual day, he will eat for 10 people. On his competitive day, he will eat for 50 people. 😂
I love you Joel, and I think its not right when you get kicked out. You always handle it in such class though. Your a true gentleman with a big stomach. Not a crime.
Thumbs up to you for handling the situation the way you did. I would've told them to Fuck off and exposed the business ,but that's just me. You're a better person for keeping your cool.

The chef is now off work with stress 😄

That's my point, they will recoup the "loss" from other customers that can't actually eat that much
Just like what the fortune cookie said about gains and losses.
You dealt with the situation beautifully, no anger , non confrontational, no threats of calling judge Judy or hissi fits, and Donald not mentioned once .you are a rare find in America these days .keep up the great work , love the show ,keep smiling .Just a nice guy .
