Great tips ! I went from daily washing to twice a week. I wash twice once with a good scalp wash and second for the actual hair. I use only hair towels (microfiber).
Love the darker hair color. It really brightens your complexion and makes you look younger!
Bobbie, I actually think the darker color looks beautiful on you- it really works with your complexion and brings out your eyes!
My hair started to come out early this year and I was freaking out a bit. My mom sent me collagen and it helped tremendously. It's no longer falling out
I brush my long hair before I wash it so I don’t have tangled- problem solved and I don’t run out of conditioner. I use the Aquis hair turbin. For styling, I use the Dyson AirWrap and set it with Kenra Volume spray 25. I stopped using olaplex products because my hair was falling out.
I heard people sometimes have problems with Olaplex. I always brush my hair before I get into the shower as well. Sadly, mine will still tangle if I don't use conditioner.
Your videos on hair changed my hair completely. I used to wash my hair everyday. When I retired I gave the 3 day wash routine a try. My hair is so much healthier it is amazing. I wished I had done it sooner! My scalp produces less oil that I have ever had in my life. After about 2 months I found I could go 4 days between washes using dry shampoo on the last 2 days. I have fine hair but not thin hair. Today is wash day so I am going to try the double conditioner method because the one problem I still have is frizz in the humid weather we have had this summer in my area. Thank you so much for everything you do to help others! ♥️
Wow, that's great Lisa! I'm so glad it has helped you! Thanks for letting me know!
Have you tried The Perfect Haircare Towel and brush? They're wonderful! I gave into my curls a few years ago and these were one of the first things I purchased. I'm a licensed stylist and it's still been a learning experience. Their towel is less disruptive than Turbie Twists and larger. I also keep a Wet Brush in the shower to brush the conditioner through my hair, do the rest of my shower, and rinse out. Tangles don't stand a chance.
Great tips, Bobbie!
I love the darker color on you...very flattering!
Oh hair loss is a real struggle.
Thank you for being here !
I retired in 2018 and immediately went from working to visiting a family member who was in a care facility at least once a week. It was a long commute and very emotionally draining. I was noticing hair loss for a while, particularly around the crown. I wanted to stop coloring my hair but dreaded the regrowth. My natural color is almost black and I was having it professionally colored once a month and also used the powders and touch up dyes in-between. My scalp was a mess! Even the salon assistant who washed my hair remarked that I was shedding a lot. I freaked out.
Shortly after the start of the pandemic, our family member passed away and the lockdowns began. I was reeling with sadness (prayed a lot) and decided to stop coloring. Two and a half years later, my hair is thick, healthy with silver streaks that I love. I shampoo the root area and condition the lower half-my hair is long. I am not stating that dyeing is bad-some women can color their hair into their 80s but for me, it had an adverse effect.
Thanks so much for you great videos Bobbi!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Stress can do a number on us so it's not a surprise your hair started shedding. I'm so glad you were able to find the culprit and make the change.
Just found you, and after one video, I subscribed! I am currently 56, a retired teacher, and am obsessed with finding beautiful foundations/makeup/affordable anti-aging products that compliment my aging combo skin. Like you, I always thought everyone shampooed twice! What? They don't? LOL Thank you for all the wonderful tips!
Great info! Another thing you can also do…. When you rinse out your conditioner, use the coldest water you can stand . Helps with making hair shinier ☺️
You have beautiful hair! Thanks for the tips!
Hello Iv love your videos as well as the "over 50" perspective which to me has a special meaning because on top of being 50, I have cerebral palsy
so being beautiful is a challenge for me, but it was part of my upbringing. My mom is 76 and looks amazing. I neglected myself during Covid. But I shouldn't do that because I have a husband. I will have to listen to your video it is jam packed with relevant information!
Dealing with Covid and CP is hard, give yourself grace. You are beautiful no matter what!
Hi Bobbie. I have thin very fine hair and I wear a silk cap to bed. I also have a silk pillowcase. These things are also meant to help the hair be less frizzy andess stress on the hair, in general. Have a great day and God bless you too!💜
Have you noticed less frizz? I don't like the feel of silk for a pillowcase. For some reason it always feels wet. I know...I'm weird!
Your hair is beautiful Bobbie. I experienced hair loss because of Covid. I started using the Ordinary multi peptide serum and was surprised how quickly it started working. Another tip is to put your conditioner before your wash and wrap it up or put shower cap. Warm it up with hair drier and shampoo after. No need to use the conditioner after because your hair will not be tangled. I use few drops of the hyaluronic acid and put it on my ends. The best hydration and conditioning and it doesn’t make your hair limp.
Hi. Is the Ordinary product you're referring to the one for lashes & brows or something different? Thanks.
Thanks for your tips!
Thank you for these wonderful hair tips. You have absolutely GORGEOUS hair!!
Great info! I stopped washing my hair every day and am so glad I did! I always thought shampoo said to lather rinse repeat to sell more shampoo! Maybe bc I'm not washing it every day I should shampoo twice. And condition 2x...hmmm
And the microfiber towel? Game changer for me! My hair is so thick it takes forever to dry - the towel helps and glad to know I'm putting it on the right way. 😊
im 55. luvvvv your channel your fun, great ideas and content and your warm and kind.
Game changer using an extra conditioner. Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much! Great tips!
Can you do a tutorial on styling your hair? I love the style. I enjoy your videos as well. You have a great spirit.
Thank you Rose! I have considered it so thank you for the encouragement!
Wow! This was very informative.
When people say “clumps of hair falling out” I never quite know what they mean. I have always lost some hair during shampooing an I was told this was normal.
It's very normal to lose hair every day. I went from hardly noticing my hair falling out to my fingers full of hair every time I ran my hands through it - specifically in the shower.
I really like your darker hair color back again. I also have always washed my hair twice. I have lost hair the last year like you would not believe. I did not use anything and it just stopped about two months ago. It’s all growing back and very thick again.
Yahoo! I do know we have cycles with our hair. Mine was falling out for more than a year - yikes!
I have always double wash and I didn’t know about double rinse. I use a turbie twist for years but didn’t know how to put it on that way.
Hi Bobbie, thank you for the advice on hair shampoos with sulphate. I have 3 salon shampoos that I use and I noticed that one of them was taking the colour out of my hair so after watching this video I checked and my Kerastase has sulphate 😔 but I’m glad I know now.
You have such beautiful hair!
You have beautiful hair! Thanks for the tips. Have a great weekend. God bless!❤️
I lose a big clump every time I shower. I too hate washing my hair. Thanks for the info!
I understand completely! 😔
Actually dermatologists will tell you wash the scalp thoroughly. When you rinse the head, the shampoo will “wash” the hair as the shampoo runs off. This keeps the hair from drying out and keeps the scalp free from sebum build up. Healthy scalp. Healthy hair.
My stylist recommended concentrating on shampooing the roots, running shampoo through to ends to not dry them out and no conditioner on roots as that can cause build up. I use a clarifying shampoo every 2 weeks for any product build up. But if this works for you, that's what you should do. Everyone's needs are different and you have beautiful hair!
I agree, all our needs and hair is so very different. I also use a clarifying shampoo a couple times a month. Which is your favorite? I use one off of Amazon that's pretty affordable.
@@MindfulMidlife I usually switch it up but always use a gentle one. Right now I've been using the Sun Bum revitalizing detox shampoo
Bobbie, could you please let me know how your hair is cut? Or if allowed, film your hairstylist, maybe she/he could explain the cut.
Hi, I was wondering what lipstick you are wearing in this video. You look absolutely gorgeous!
I love your videos and advice ❤
Love your hair color!
I have curly hair. I wash my hair once a week. After wash/condition I use a microfibre turban or a cotton t-shirt. I don't leave it wrapped for long because my hair is soooooo thin (thanks thyroid and menopause - REALLY appreciate it). Also I use a leave in conditioner so I need my hair to be wet for that, and after applying that I brush the sides and the back of my hair straight out to the side. The hair on the top of my head gets brushed upwards. This helps give volume. I then apply hair peptides and volume booster at the roots. Sometimes I use a curl enhancing mousse and then when my hair is almost dry I use a hair oil to seal everything in and break the cast. You struggle with frizz Bobbi because your hair is naturally curly. A leave in conditioner could help with that but it might not eliminate fully because you're styling against your natural wave.
Whenever I use a leave-in conditioner my hair is flat and lifeless. I've tried a few. Which one do you like?
@@MindfulMidlife The one I'm using at the minute is Shea moisture silicone free leave-in. The squirty bottle annoys me. Squirts tiny amounts. However, it is light and it doesn't weigh my hair down at all. Little tip when applying leave in - wrap your index finger and thumb around the section of hair you're applying conditioner to. Not too tight but slide it down the length. Now, the size of the circle your finger and thumb make is the amount of conditioner needed for that section. I had another leave in from curlsmith. Weightless air drying cream. I really loved that. I definitely prefer the curlsmith but would recommend either.
I would never wash my hair twice. I have dry scalp and I do not use hair products. I think all this stuff we are putting in our hair is causing a lot of hair issues including hair loss. Our hair naturally goes through loss and growth cycles. I believe that it is more about what we put in our bodies than what we put on the outside. Not great for the beauty product industry but better for us. Just my thoughts. Also, an extra large tee shirt is great to use for your wet hair. Everyone has one so you are not throwing money to a specialty product. You can put it on any way you like, hair going g forward or back.
It's a good thing you don't with a dry scalp. I've never had that issue, but I am sure you have to be very careful. I used a t-shirt when I tried going curly and you are right...it works great Linda!
I use Colleen Rothschild hair serum before I ever run a wet comb through, starting at the bottom. Oil makes my hair flat and with my baby fine hair, I don’t need that. I have to use a root lift also. I haven’t tried the 2 condition method, but I always wash twice. I’m going to try a second condition of my ends.
I Loved this video, I had Covid and 2 months after I'm having lots of hair loss ,I'm definitely buying some of these products mentioned and praying it helps !! Thank you so much for doing these types of videos !!
I heard some lose hair from Covid. Hopefully it stops soon.
Will u do more food, grocery hauls and what I eat in a day video
Beach babes coconut dry shampoo has been amazing for me....love it.
Never tried that one!
I have curly hair. Love the conditioner twice!!! Curls need lots of conditioner 💖 i have to use leave in conditioner too.
Have you tried Rogaine? Im thinking about it to help w thin spots.
No, I haven't. I have heard that your hair gets REALLY flat.
I use Rogaine but need to wash daily as it makes the hair dirty. I was trying to was less often but started Rogaine at night and then it feels yucky in am so back to washing more.
You have beautiful hair Bobbie, but mine is fine so have to wash daily!
Hi Bobbie, What great tips ! Last year I started using the Turbie Twist, and will change how I put it on now, ingenious ! What did it take me so long to discover this product ! My whole life using a bath towel and twisting it on my hair ! 😩🤣 I also recently got a wet brush, but still seems like I’m pulling out too much hair, and I’ll be checking out the Verb Ghost spray for sure. I switched to a sulfate free shampoo, last year also, and can tell the difference in my color staying nice. I do go 3 or more days between shampooing, by the 4th day it needs it, but if I’m not going out, I have gone up to 5. Your hair looks super healthy, and love the lift you get with the Eva nyc product. I can never seem to get a lift that stays. Years ago I used a root lifter, I think Paul Mitchell ? 🤔 Anyway it worked, but that was when my hair was oily, now it’s dry/normal, so hesitant to use anything with too much alcohol. Thanks again, I appreciate you advice ! ☺️☺️
Check out Dr. Eric Berg He talks about health, vitamins, minerals, and fasting.
I have super thick hair I'm 57 ok I don't wash my hair with shampoo as often and don't go in circular motion massage it in ok conditioner only use mid way up not straight onto scalp. Never ever blow dry hair or use any heating on your hair don't dye your hair, brush hair from bottom up use silk pillow slip also sleep with a sleeping cap on.
Lovely cat in the background 😺
I recently bought the JVN shampoo and conditioner set love it ...my daughter swears by olaplex but I won't spend the money but I may soon
Now that Rachel is an Esthetician, she can get into Cosma Prof and get Olaplex really cheap. I need to try it!
Nature Bounty Hair Skin and Nail vitamins 4 capsules daily 😊 I’m 55 yr young, I have long hair below bra length. I wash & condition my hair 2xs weekly!
It's gorgeous
I use the Kristen ess thikening spray love it but will try this one thx
I've never tried that brand, but I'm sure I will - I'm always trying new ones.
the darker hair makes you look younger :))
Bobbie, I have thin, fine hair. Do you recommend these steps for all hair types?
You should give it a try! I have fine but not thin hair and doing her method changed my hair routine completely. I went from an every day wash to a 4 day routine. I use a small amount of dry shampoo on day 3 and 4. I have less oil and my hair is so much healthier. It has been a year and I can't imagine washing my hair everyday. Good luck!
@@lisachurch6814 thanks!! I tried it today and I’m going to see if I can not wash it tomorrow!! I’m excited!😄
Add more protein, especially red meat to your diet. Despite what they say, beef is good for you.Collagen is good too.
So, you wash your scalp twice and ends once.
Wow Bobbie dark hair is 100 % you so pretty please don't go back to blonde you look older I'm not being mean I'm soooo picky with my hair and I like honesty believe me that brown you call dark is you.
Is this still working for you?
Does anyone have a sulphate free, colorsafe shampoo & conditioner they love? I have too many bottles of things I don't like! I'm interested in brands anyone recommends too. Thanks.
There are so many shampoos and conditioners on the market and they are targeting different things. The main thing to look for is something that suits the type of hair you have - fine hair needs something different than course hair for instance. Most sulphate free shampoos should be fine for colour treated hair and gentle formulations work for most people. As a general rule shampoos that are clear are better for oilier hair and thick creamy shampoos are often better for drier hair. Same with conditioners - lightweight conditioners work better for fine or oily hair and thick buttery formulations for course textured and dry hair. Leave in conditioners in a thin watery spray formulation are often better tolerated by fine hair than thick creams. I have course textured curly hair and need maximum moisture from my products, so I use a lot of richer textures that might make fine hair feel weighed down and limp - I need that weighing down and taming. I hope that helps.
I agree with Loraine. Thanks Lorraine for spelling it out. I really like Verb Shampoo and Conditioner. They have a line for fine hair (Ghost). I have fine hair that's wavy and I have a lot of it so I don't want to weigh it down. The Verb works good, but I do try different ones all the time.
I love Redken “All Soft” line. Redken has multiple lines of products to choose from. I know! Too much! But you can’t go wrong with any of them. 🛀🧴🚿
I'm real cheap, but I have wavy hair and I'm trying to keep it healthy. I've been enjoying the Love, Beauty and Planet shampoo and conditioner bar, but I also used thier traditional sulfate free shampoo and conditioners. They have several scents that are nice. I also like the Shea Moisture stuff and there's lots to choose from.
