- Ever wondered how to AMULET? Are your AMULETS acting up? Need some tips on pro-level-AMULET-ing? ... Let AMULETS show you how to add more AMULETS to your AMULETING.
Joking aside this was a great part of the DivKid's West Coast Adventure (playlist below) in Portland, Oregon. I had chance to go meet Randall, have him perform, run down his live and studio set up and sit down for an interview about influences, backgrounds etc.
If you support on Patreon you have a bonus interview video which you can access here - / exclusive-with-34353370 there's also an uncut performance from this video here too - / exclusive-uncut-34413243

This has to be a Golden Age of bonkers experimental types actually having a voice. Wonderful.
I'm putting this for reference
guitar pedal order:
volume
Donner Deluxe looper
EHX Pitchfork octave
ProCo RAT distortion
EHX Nano Big Muff Pi distortion/fuzz (not mentioned)
AC Noises AMA reverb
Mooer Mod Factory modulation
Digitech Digidelay digital delay
Ibanez DL 10 digital delay (old 80s pedal, he said it's analog delay??)
TC Electronic Ditto x2 looper
Boss DD-7 digital delay
Strymon Blue Sky reverb
oh, and there's a tuner near the end.
stickers made it difficult to id the pedals
Is that zoom in the beginning of video?
Isn't that a Caline Reverb, above the OP1 ? Own one, it's dope reverb pedal, and it's really cheap. Edit : oh, he mentionned it in the video, I didn't get to that point before commenting. :)
Wonderful set up and an inspiring and beautiful sound out of this. I love the kind of travelling salesman suitcase approach too :-)
traveling soundsman at your service!
@@amuletsmusic Excellent. Let's make an appointment for you next week then 🤣
Cool to see his pedalboard. Don’t know why I thought it would be more complicated than it was.
Right on Big B. Reminds me of Foot's setup.
See ya in St Louis Thursday night...Unknown Mortal Orchestra seem to always have an eclectic opener.
Hi Sean, hope you enjoyed the Amulets show!
i love to see how powerful it's to have all that immediacy, control and visual feedback when performing live in real-time.. what a beautiful instrument!
well, i had to watch this one too....... the Live Set was killer !!!!!!!!!!!!!
you really met the right people on your trip:-))))))
I like his socks. They seem like the perfect conductor of his passion to the instruments. :-)
YES, nice one!
😎
I rewatch this often, so inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome. I've been curious about his setup for a while now.
I love your music. I’ve been listening to it to help me relax and vibe and fall asleep & meditate for at least a year or so now. Thank you 🙏🏼
thank you for this. Well done all around
This is super cool. I’m not sure I have enough patience to hone something like this. Very impressive. Great job. Thanks for the vid!
Very nice and cool stuff , and i like your approach very much!
Amazing! Thanks for your music...
Excellent approach ... 😀👍🏻
Lovely
Sounds gorgeous!
That was really cool... heading to Amulets’ channel for more now. I remember Alexis verbs being popular among folks on Harmony Central KSS back in the day. Now plugin devs try to mimic the sound of older things like that and even older things from before.
Early ambient records were all made by studio nerds like Eno, so those rackmount Alesis units were their bread and butter. Not really feasible or cost-effective to shrink the hardware down to pedal sizes, but an entirely digital emulation...
Hello from Bush Alaska Randal!!
Always nice to revisit this gem
I love it when someone visits and older video and comments as it brings back memories for me. All the better when it includes interesting people and places. Thanks!
ace. Hopefully bump into you and say hello in Bristol in a couple weeks time. :0)
Wow man… bonkers. Beautiful.
Beautiful sound
Great vid 🤘😻🤘
Brillant !!
That description is gold
Wonderous
Dude! I just checked out Bandcamp! I’m a fan!! Great music!!
Amulets! Yes!
Yes!
I just discovered you yesterday and have watched a number of your videos, nice and interesting. I AM into more synths and of course I use a DAW. You have given me ideas to use with samples and samplers instead of tape machines. I really like ambient. You are lucky to live in Portland, seems like there is a big music scene there.
Thanks Rose, I don't live in Portland (Amulets does) but was visiting as part of a wider trip of the Pacific Northwest back in 2019. I didn't see enough of Portland to comment much but certainly lots of good people around.
Glad to hear this has given you some ideas for working with samples and interpreting things in your own way. I hope that works out well.
@@DivKid hey sorry about that, I didn't even look I thought that I was on Amulets channel. Anyway good stuff.
no problem at all. Thanks!
I kinda wish this had been one of those funny FrankJavCee/Imaginary Ambition/Pagefire-type "How To" videos, but it's still pretty cool to get an insight into Amulets.
i like your socks randall!
🍔thanks!
I just bought recently a portastudio 414 and i would like to know how do you Connect all your other instruments to it, so the fostex and the op 1 i asume they go in the 2 stereo inputs but then your guitar??
And also the efects for the 414 loops are routed through the effects senda in the porta ?
Big inspiration and influence thank u for your beautiful music
AAAAAAAAAAAA YES
what looper pedals are those? i can only recognise the ditto looper there..
donner deluxe looper
❤️🙏👌Nothing synced... But all is perfect
I'm not getting any audio.
he is just awesome. i still don't understand how he creates the sounds
thank you! and magic ✨
Few thousand dollars on equipment
Does anyone know what type of looper he uses in the suitcase of drone
I know your question is about 9 months old now, but I was wondering the same thing. I looked into it and I believe it's an Ibanez Rock & Play RP50.
@@leonwalpole6556 It is, I believe I saw him showing it on a video a year or two ago.
@@leonwalpole6556 yup!
Bro... you making the price of shit go up on ebay?? An Alesis "Wedge" is going for $230 ??!! WTF?
Seems like everything is up and out of control. People are asking way too much for stuff. Its time for people to reign in the prices and start to try to undercut the competition.
@@Rose_Arcana it's not just that... there's plenty of gear no one cares about until a youtube channel says, "why does no one care about this??!!". There's tons of cheap gear that's good.
