  • Cavalex Models Ltd is a recent entrant to the model railway manufacturing scene with its model of the British Rail class 56 - in this instance one of the Electroputere (Romania) built locomotives (no.56 008) which arrived at Tinsley from Harwich (via Colchester depot) behind 37 081 on 22nd September 1976, thence to Barrow Hill a few days later.
Although not the first passenger train to be worked by the class (as it was advertised), 56 008 hauled the 'Melton Mowbray Pieman' Barnsley - Melton Mowbray excursion on 24th July 1977. However, by the time the excursion took place 56 004 had already assisted the 10:20 Penzance - Leeds train on 22nd June 1977 when 45 022 failed at Wincobank Station Junction.
Still in BR blue, 56 008 was withdrawn 14th July 2000 and scrapped by Raxstar (Immingham) that year.
The model's attendance at Ewhurst Green was a complete surprise - it certainly is a fine model with excellent sound capabilities even on DC. Well-packaged, an informative handbook (that puts many other manufacturers to shame) is included.
The detailing looks absolutely superb - my only observation was the last digit [8] of the locomotive number appeared to be upside down - but then perhaps that was just my failing eyesight.
Friend Rod has more Cavalex locomotives on order and is considering so of their wagons so I look forward to their coming to visit Ewhurst Green model railway - Colin.
Registered with Companies House (10553832) at an address in Black Notley (near Braintree) and incorporated on 9th January 2017, Cavalex's website is www.cavalexmod...
The name Cavalex is understood to come from its two directors CAVan Millward and ALEXander Perkins.

Was pleasantly surprised when it was placed on the track having never having heard of Cavalex or been aware of its release. 👍
Sound is excellent (even on DC) with the model being a step up from other manufacturer's offerings. 🌞
The friend who bought it along now has more on order! 😺

Thank you for this - the 56 looks to be superb!
    Was it haulage ability tested?
PS I note there was a delay in opening this up for comment?

Thank you for your support! 🌞
Sadly there wasn't enough time as the 56 appeared late in the afternoon after much time had been lost fettling a brand new Hornby locomotive with tight back-to-backs and a wobbly driving wheel. 🤨
However, a class 56 video has been suggested additionally featuring Mainline, Dapol and Hornby models.... 🙂
In terms of comments, recently RUclips appears to keep resetting the videos to 'no comments' despite selecting otherwise. I don't know if others are having this problem? 🤔

hi there, how many timeshave i seen hornby made in china locos conk out,the quality is just not there anymore, we never had this problem in the Triang days,, love the southern EMUs, do you have a cl 70 booster loco yet ? i wish someone would do a 6Pul unit in model form,

Thank you and quite agree; some of the designs of the mechanisms are not particularly robust. 🙂
Have you seen my 'Dead H-tank' video? ruclips.net/video/uBmY9JPc2Zc/видео.html 😯
All five Booster locomotives were running on Ewhurst Green in January and is covered by this video: ruclips.net/video/ipAy2jP3MhA/видео.html 😎
6 PUL /6 PAN /6 CITY & even 6 COR units would be welcome. Hornby were planning a 4 COR but (I am advised) mislaid their research material. 😉
Currently the most obvious emu right would be a Bachmann 4 EPB as they already make the Motorcoaches for the 2 HAP. With detail changes the 4 EPB trailer cars could also form a 3H 'Hampshire' and the 64' non-corridor Second. 😃
The 4 SUB would be relatively straightforward, essentially requiring Motorcoach and Trailer car. 🌞
All the slam-door Southern Electric units are covered on my website www.BloodandCustard.com ⚡
