I spoke to Cavalex models at DEMU about the new class 56 sound. I have to say Cavalex was very helpful, taking the time to explain the sound project in the per production class 56 was not complete / still had work to do before the final sign off. I was able to listen to the 56 (Special arrangement) and I can confirm there is a definite turbocharger working. There was another guy standing next to myself at the time (not someone from Cavalex) also listening. I asked him what he thought “Very impressive” he said. Also confirmed the turbocharger was working. Only left one thing - pop over to Rainbow Railways and order myself the large Logo 56120 with sound 😇

Hey Pat, what camera did you use to film that gorgeous 56? The image quality is stunning! 😮😅

Does the 56 have a working high intensity lamp? This class of locomotive has a very broad sound pattern ? I was a fitter back at Crewe in the 80s and was always surprised at the class and all the different noises you could hear from them ! I wonder if they catch that classic wheel slip this class were synonymous with ? Looks better than the mainline / Hornby model!

      Hi Mike
Thank you for your message and you are someone that knows
GBRF did a very interesting interview in regards to the wheel slip and how this was over come on the 69s with regards to Cavalex 56 this was an early version of the sound file they have listen to what people have had to say and done a lot of work to improve file
I also believe ESU created a new speaker and the 56 is the first loco to have this fitted
If you look through my videos I do have a later version of the sound in the Colas 56 filmed at P4 show from what I understand they have packed the most sound in the this chip technology will allow at this time
It is always difficult to get a true sound at a show because of other things going on
If you are at the NEC this weekend it is worth a visit to Cavalex I have ordered the large Logo BR blue and I am going to order one more but can not make my mind up

Cappagh has started on a contract to transport minerals etc through the chilterns where I live, and classes 56 and 60s from DC rail are the motive power for the trains top and tailed. The set yesterday was 56 leading and a 60 following up the rear! There is an uphill slog near me, and it made me chuckle as the 56 had a small wheel slip moment! The Ruston Paxman rk3 has a very fast recovery to slipping and makes great sound always reminded me of a jet engine spooling up? And then there's the classic rumble of the big ends for miles. It would be interesting to hear a pre-production sound file as cavalex has taken on a very complex model for sound footprints, I remember how weird it was how different the sounds within the class ,guess some of that could be down to different builders ? The Romanian ones seemed to make the most noise?
I think I will go for the DC rail version personally, but I'm sure none of us will be happy with just one??
I see cavalex is to make the tug also an other interesting choice!

This is the almost finished version with the new speaker again you do need to take into account the hall and the other sounds going on around but did leave it till late on the Sunday when most people had left

Doesn’t sound like a grid to me. Something not quite right. Where’s the scream when it sets off? Nice model though. Got two on order.

Please remember this is a working progress locomotive I think it is great that Cavalex are able to give the locomotive a test the the “real world”
To add the layout is EM and this can bring it own fun and games at times but in all the time I was watching the 56 she never skipped a beat and this goes to prove Cavalex have taken the time to think about running issues and not just a fantastic looking locomotive

@@patstrainsuk1 will let you know when I test my two out. I was just saying it doesn’t hit the spot with me where the sound is concerned. Not having a go. The best sound models I have are Sutton’s locomotive works class 24s. I will know better when I give the grids a try. Cavalex sold it to me straight away with the looks. It’s a fab looking model. I have four class 37/0 sound locos coming from accurascale. I’ve heard their sound and they sound great compared to bachmanns. Each to their own as they say.

@@simon40s thank you Simon for your reply
I did not think for one second you was being anything other than 100% genuine and when I see Cavalex at DEMU I am going to ask about the sound I just need to say this is not the finished model and there for the production loco could be different
I 100% agree the Sutton 24 and 25 have fantastic sound I do have a clip of double headed 25 filmed at York over the Easter bank holiday weekend and some clips of my own 24 and a 25 which was a 24 originally
Please do let me know what you think of the class 56

hey dude there is a fault with this model not sure if its common knowledge but the 8 is upside down

Yes you are correct the 8 is up side down i can confirm this is not a fault and I can also confirm the 8 was upside down on the prototype locomotive I have seen a photo of this myself
I don’t know if she entered traffic like that but 100% was upside down and this just goes to prove the care and attention Team Cavalex have put in to there locomotives
