Don't take it as offence, but maybe constructive criticism: if you don't want to read all the comments to see if some's already noticed and there's an answer, or get the year right, perhaps a little more thought is required before hitting the enter button. We're not here to make blockbuster films. It can be kind of fun to do these but there's a significant consumption of time, funds and other resources to do them. We'd rather put that into better serving our customers. Also, check the pinned comment on the MIG 4.0 video. Thank you for the postive comment about the important stuff, the content of video. 🙂

Hi Tony, great question! Answer is they are fro securing the Polly-Cotton Liner that is available as an accessory. Not a very popular accessorie as you can use a grizzly and it really boosts the temp rating. Thanks for getting in touch!
HI William, As of this year's SHOT Show, there is a new UD Distributor for Carinthia www.us-elitegear.com It's jackets for them at the moment but get in touch and ask them to get you the sleeping bag you want.
@@premierdefenceagencies8145 oh wow ok I will! Thanks;) I’ve been researching companies that import from Germany so far I found a couple that sound legit and reliable. Will reach out to Elite as you said first. Thanks so much for the fast response , cheers brother:)
@@AlexanderHonsVonEber Go through Elite. Warranty issues are actually rare for Carinthia but you likley won't get it if you don't go through approved re-sellers, and always support local!
Hi Jay, the answer is yes and no. Yes, because you can shove any bag inside or outside another, but no, depending upon wether there is enough room for you inside, once they're together. When a two-bag system is made, the outer bag should be made with a greater circumference so as to fit around the inner bag, without crushing the insulation. As you'd be aware, if you crush the insulation, it doesn't insulate. Carinthia haven't tried this combination and tested it so there is no themal rating for this it and adding the ratings won't give you an answer. Really, the only way to find out is to give it a go. Hope this helps.
Hi For a three to seven day camping in a mountainous region, would you recommend the Tropen + Bivy Bag, Tropen + Defence 4 or Tropen + Defence 4 + Bivy Bag.
Hi A R, the choice depends on the expected temperatures and conditions that you're going to experience on the trip. And don't forget, you will need some extra temp range in case of enexpected bad weather. Without knowing where you're going and when, we can't offer you any advice on bag or combo selection, but you should be able to choose something to suit using historical data for the travel area at the time you're going.
@@ilooklikeme7106 Thank for your patience, I needed to check with Carinthia. Eberlestock sold Carinthia under it's own brand (re-branded) and you're right, they are not selling it now. No idea why. You can order from www.coolkit.com.au and get shipping to the USA. I hope this helps.
@@ilooklikeme7106 I know of no other US distributors. Hi Michael, At 6ft, you are 183cm and should fit the 185cm limit of the regular bag. The question is your shoulder width. The bag is good for around an 82cm shoulder width, with the actual edge-to-edge width being 85cm. So, shoulder width and how loose or tight you want the bag are the defining factors in size selection. Hope this helps!

HI GadgetMart, the Tropen is a stand-alone bag made for hot-tropical conditions with a large temp variation. It does fit in the D4 and Carinthia sell Tropen and D4 as a system, but as far as we know from speaking with Cairnthia, it's not specifically made for bag-in-bag use. The main reason they put the two together is that with a center zip and side zip, it reduces the heat loss from having both zips located together. If you ever use the US Army bag-in-bag system, you'll know how painful the double zips are and that it causes a cold bridge. Hope this helps!
@@premierdefenceagencies8145 I have the Defence 4, it’s a great bag. I’ve just got the FECSA British Army modular sleep system for my G/F that does tie together. (Defence 4/Tropen copy)
Text copied from Carinthia sleepingbag catalog: SLEEPING BAG SYSTEM (TROPEN + DEFENCE 4) The system consists of the two sleeping bags described above. Considering the low weight of the system (approximately 3 kgs in total), it guarantees unbeatable thermal performance with minimum packing size and weight. The Defence 4 serves as the outer sleeping bag and the Tropen as the inner sleeping bag. Both bags fit into the compression bag of the Defence 4. This combination of a centre-zipper outer bag and side-zipper inner bag provides maximum comfort in extreme conditions. The inner sleeping bag also serves as a liner bag. It is easy to wash and dries quickly. There is no need to wash the complete system.
RUclips decided that was what it was going to be. We'll get aorund to re-uploading it in higer res. Unfortunaltely, we'll loose the comments when we do.

Which is especially un helpful when your recommending / advising people on purchasing a potentially life saving survival tool. Less sales waffle! More simplified advice for Australian camping please.
HI George, thanks for watching and commenting. We try very hard to satisfy customers with information and are quite surprised that you don't want to know that both bags will work with the Defence 4 to provide an extreme cold bag system, with the felxibility of covering a vast range of conoditions. Nothing random about that, and being that that's an important fact in the decision process, we scripted it into the video. If you want to be told what you should buy so you don't need to think about it, or expend any effort in making a decision, just tell us where you want to go and what time of the year and we can tell you which of our sleeping bags to buy. Otherwise, feel free to tell us the content you want to hear, how the features should be included, explained or excluded, and how you want it related to Australian conditions and what those conditions are. On the "Australian Conditions" note, please feel free to list the brands and products that you feel relate best to Australian conditions.
