If the disc PS5 costs $499 I cant see the Digital one costing $100 less.. maybe $50 less considering the fact that both are the same exact system. Its not the same situation as the Xbox Series S where it's like 40% of what the Series X is.
It isn't a standard blu-ray drive being lost from Standard to Digital, though. 4K/UHD Blu-rays aren't cheap. To add, $399 for DE is a way of tempting people to spend $100 more for a true next-gen console versus say the Series S.

Updates on the launch window games with release dates, price, and a few higher profile announcements. I don't think we're going to get a ton of new games here, probably just a handful. But those will probably be big. Like the rumored Silent Hill game-big. This is their last big push before the launch of the console presumably. They won't beat Microsoft in price so the best strategy is to match the price and bombard people with reasons (games) to choose their console over the competition. I think Pathless, Spider-Man, and GT7 will be the three first-party launch titles. With Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Ratchet & Clank coming in the first 6 months of 2021 and Horizon 2 and Demon Souls Remake coming in the second half of 2021.
High Priority: Price, Pre-order date, launch date Medium: launch games (gameplay), backwards compatibility, an unexpected exclusive title announcement Low: console UI, console breakdown

I predict that the PS5 will: Be over $1000 Australian dollars at launch (because the economy is shit over here) Lack any good launch games (no Ratchet or Spidey or anything like that) Have a fatal hardware issue at launch (akin to the 'blue light of death' or whatever it was) Require constant internet connection to be able to do literally anything on it (because fuck accessibility, amirite?) Have precious little storage space on the base version of the system (PS5 Pro incoming! I'm calling it now!) Have a bigger focus on social media features than games with its marketing (modern consoles in a nutshell) Require us to buy at least one crucial cable (such as the HDMI cable) separately Not have any good games available for it until late into its 'life cycle' (because thaaaaaat's progress!) You call it being pessimistic - I call it being realistic.
I just hope at this point I can secure a Pre order for the PS5. It is really hard to get excited if I don't know for sure if I am able to get this console at launch. With how hard it is to get a Switch now a days and that system approaching 4 years old I can just imagine how long it would take to get a PS5 if I am unable to pick one up at launch. Once I have the console pre ordered and I know for sure that I will have it in November then my hype level will go through the roof. Until then I am keeping my excitement in check..
I've said it all year I personally think given how the world is right now both companies should be selling them at a reasonable/cheap price cos people have lost jobs/not earning as much money
I’d like to think it will be $500 or less for price but I kinda feel like they might do more because if they were doing $500 or less they would have released it around the same time Microsoft thing. I kinda feel like they’re hesitating is because the price is bad
@@mustaphaelsaytari5904 when you say the playstation is better I think of the hardware and not its software. No it's not please be more specific next time
Im hyped for the remake but unless there are more good games coming with it ill just have to wait for a price drop and it doesnt matter if it takes years.
@@ill_luck Its got nothing to do with the price of the drive. Its about encouraging people to go all digital which will make Sony more money in the long run. Physical game sales don't make them anywhere near as much money as a digital game.
I keep hearing that the Series X from Microsoft is meant to be a more powerful machine. So why would the PS5 be more expensive? Personally I'll be getting the PS5 UHD version as I believe Sony have the better exclusive games. I'll also be able to play my old PS4 games on it to.
It's not just about raw power. The PS5 has way more special custom features. The Xbox controller is the same old basic pad, while the Dual Sense controller is packed with unique functionality. The console itself has some custom chips like the 3D audio engine. Features like these hike up the price even if the CPU and/or GPU aren't as powerful.
Never understood why PS3 was mocked and not liked for being $600 for the 60gb when it was fully backwards compatible with like 95% of the ps1 and ps2 library! To me this 40 extra gb and fully backwards compatibility was such a good deal for $600.
In reference to the disc console, I could see Sony matching Xbox’s price and include a game or drop the price by $50 and not include a game. Either option would give them the advantage or just matching the price still puts them in a good position. This is considering the upcoming game releases known and the ones that they will mention next week. In reference to the digital console, I can’t see Sony selling it at the same price as Xbox. But, I’m sure that they will be creative in presenting the price with a package combination deal.
Not gonna lie, Ratchet & Clank in Smash would be awesome. It obviously won’t ever happen since they are Sony characters but they would have great moveset potential.
I honestly think the PS5 is gonna be $500 with the Digital Edition being $400! I just don't think there's any chance of Sony going over or under that price!
Hope we get to see more footage / a release date for Kena (not sure if that was revealed as something that would be launch or not). . . Also, I suspect $400 Digital, $500 Disk.
@@cosmicpiplup5296 Ah, thanks for the heads up! Normally I'd be saddened but I had planned on waiting to pick up my PS5 until Q1 2021 anyway, so fine by me. . . Still hope we get to see something new on the game at the very least.
They definitely cannot march the Series S. They cannot make a lower spec PS5 after the fact as, if they one existed, Devs would know about it and we'd know about it. Unless they pull off a miracle and get all Devs to run on the low lower SKU. Losing the disc drive isn't gonna save then much at all. It's not an expensive component at all. Depends on the loss they're willing to risk .
I think people (including myself) are in the minority when it comes to preferring disc drives. Sony and Microsoft wouldn’t have brought discless consoles at launch if there weren’t a huge portion of their revenues coming from it
I think ps5/all digital price gap is going to be 50 bucks, exactly for the "but it's only 50 bucks more" statement, so that the 500 price tag would be more justified. And while 50 bucks aren't as big of a deal for the buyer, every sale is 10% more to sony

Early adapters always pay the price for buying a system to fast but that 300 for xbox series s might be a nice toe to dip in the new systems before the actual slim versions release in the future or that all access plan for 25 or 35 a month with gamepass is such a good deal and if they treat the xbox series x like a phone in a year or 2 when the slim versions come out you might just be able to upgrade like a cell phone with a new contract. Interesting idea from Microsoft imo. It'd be perfect if they make better exclusives like ps tho
Not necessarily. I have owned the PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, SNES, N64, Wii U, and the Switch all at launch and I have never ran into any issues. (Knock on wood) Still have my launch day PS4 sitting on my desk and it runs like a champ. There is always somewhat of a risk when it comes to any electronics, which is why it is always a good idea to put a extended warranty on it just in case..

Our next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners." I'm thinking $600 with a bunch of built in subscription services. A free year of PS plus, something else along those lines and no way to opt out for a cheaper price.
I personally don't think the digital will be that cheap, unlike the Xbox series S (I think it's called that) it has the exact same specs as the disk version, I personally think £350 for digital, £450 for disk :)
I wonder how they’ll handle free PS Plus games. Will there be more than two every month? Will every free PS4 game be guaranteed to be compatible with PS5?

Fortnite Presence (Launch title, Possibly more PS exclusive content)
Sackboy gets a date (Seems very far along, launch title/ December/ January)
Horizon, Returnal, Gran Turismo, Demons Souls pop up. Narrowed down to seasonal windows in 2021
Destruction All-Stars is dated and detailed
Another title is given PS exclusive content
Backwards compatibility: Probably a sizzle real of Uncharted 4, Last of Us 2, GOT, Spiderman etc... with text saying "OVER X GAMES COMPATIBLE" if it's on a title per title basis, or "PLAY ALL PS4 GAMES ON PS5" if they have managed to get universal coverage. Either way they might talk briefly about it then put a blogpost upp afterwards with more specific technical details about how it is going to work.
What's in the box? It is likely that we will get a short glimpse at what will be included, such as the cables, included stand etc... Could be brief
Evens:
God Of War 5 announcement, just cinematics, no date.
London Studio's secret VR game, brief mention of VR compatibility
Sherlock Holmes' new game
GTA 5 pops up
Last of Us Multiplayer is dated as a launch title/ launch window. PS5 only due to PS4 first party development ending.
Resident Evil 8 shown: We were told we'd hear more about it in Summer, which didn't really happen. It's a 50/50 show up
Another First party title is announced, there are a number of studios unaccounted for project wise, with some taking on 2 games in recent years that we've yet to hear about.
Back to the Future HD gets a re-release. This was released years ago by telltale, then remastered with new voice acting for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS4. Not even PC. If you want this game now it could cost you $100 for the remaster due to scarcity and it being delisted from storefronts. Back to the Future stuff tends to happen in October due to it being the month in which Marty travelled to the future. Still though, the licenses are a bit messy due to Telltale being divided, Universal owning BTTF and the game never being publicly acquired like Batman, The walking dead or Wolf among us 2 were. Fuel is added to this fire by Christopher Lloyd who voices in the game, appearing for Surgeon Simulator 2.
Wolf Among us 2, 1 year since it was revealed to be restarting development. New trailer for 2021 release
Ubisoft: They seem to be set on doing their own promotion, and anything they wanted to show would have happened at Ubi Live. But Watchdogs and AC may pop up as a gentle reminder that theyre launch titles
Activision: They like to reveal their own stuff most of the time. Like I pointed out last time with COD. However, Activision has 2 teams working on the Spyro and Crash franchises (not counting CTR), one of those has been free these past few years. Plus they announced Crash Remastered at a Sony event, a Spyro 4 in the same vain as Crash 4 could certainly happen here, but it's 50/50
Unlikelys:
San Diego's secret game (Seems too early in development to show much of anything)
Hardware teardown and UI reveal, these are better suited to a Blogpost, and in the past that's how they've been revealed. Sony likes to keep hardware talk in these shows brief to keep the show moving. Pausing to spend 10 minutes on a guy unscrewing a console or telling you that Netflix is on the console is not something they're gonna do. Just look at the negative reactions to Xbox's 2013 conference, and Cerny's hardware conference as reason to not focus on this
Other storage/colour options, at Jeff's event we were told that due to production difficulties, they were just focusing on one colour option and one storage option. Plus it is very unlikely for special editions and colours of consoles at launch. This seems to be Mid-late 2021
Naughty Dog's next big game: Seems too early in development. By all metrics it seems that it was put on the backburner for the end of TLOU2's development, meaning it's probably still in early development.
Not happening:
Agent
There's probably a lot wrong here, and a lot right. So take it with a grain of salt, this is just how I ratio things out in possibilities. If you want to take inspiration for your own predictions, please do, but only go into this event expecting the obvious things in the first section. Take everything below that as things that would be nice if they show up. If you do that, you will probably avoid any disappointment
$500 physical, $400 digital. I can't see it going any other way.
Thank you so much for using the amazing ratchet and clank music in the background
399 for the discless version and 499 for the disc version. Release date on Nov 13th.
Man, my OLED display and I *hate* it when you guys use a static image for the entire video. Play the little glowing bubbles on a loop or something. Lol
I hears PS5 going to be 99 dollars to undercut XSX
Oldstalk r/wooosh
@@clerklerp8458 how?
@@RetroGameDays36 because its a joke
@Steven Gunn You made a typo, you meant to say 9 dollars right?
*99 cents
If the disc PS5 costs $499 I cant see the Digital one costing $100 less.. maybe $50 less considering the fact that both are the same exact system. Its not the same situation as the Xbox Series S where it's like 40% of what the Series X is.
It isn't a standard blu-ray drive being lost from Standard to Digital, though. 4K/UHD Blu-rays aren't cheap.
To add, $399 for DE is a way of tempting people to spend $100 more for a true next-gen console versus say the Series S.
Hitting me straight in the feels with the classic Ratchet and Clank music
Next PlayStation video, can you also add Sly Cooper music?
Demons soules and Ratchet and Clank are enuff for me to begin with!
I feel like we’re going to get the briefest of teases for the next God of War and I’m also predicting a surprise launch game
*knack 3 intensifies*
I doubt it, if Sony is taking the steps of Nintendo and only announce games that will be in the first year, I doubt it.
@@Oldstalk if knack 3 is at launch... xbox and Nintendo are doomed
God of war 2023 lol
Digital 400$ Disc 500$
Only other possibility would be Digital 400$ Disc 450$
Would be smart to do the undercut on the higher end
Not
Getting mine till atleast holiday 2022 or summer 2023. To many revisions and or collectors edition versions. Betting on atleast 5 or 6 versions within first 2 years. If digital happened to outsell disc version a 2tb disc version is definate.
600$ and 500😂
Updates on the launch window games with release dates, price, and a few higher profile announcements.
No way $600. Sony likes to undercut, they remember the PS3, and the system parts are rumored to cost $450 so no way it was planned to be over $500
I mean better Controller and better console and better exlusiv and it has games for lunch so yeah they could do more then 500 😂
High Priority: Price, Pre-order date, launch date
Medium: launch games (gameplay), backwards compatibility, an unexpected exclusive title announcement
Low: console UI, console breakdown
I think the digital version will be $400 and the physical version will be $450.
Here a dark-horse prediction: Western release of Persona 5 Scramble 🙏
this is a PS5 showcase, not a P5S smh
It's obviously gonna come but Atlus is working on smtV rn just be patient
Its coming on the ps4 and switch so idk.
@@dogestep64 The game part of the game itself is already done, it's just the english dubbing and subbing that needs to be finished, and Koei Techmo's financial report shows the western release to be coming out some time before March 2021, so it's gonna come out wayyyyy before SMTV is done
LinkFromDaPast it’s a PS5 showcase. Persona is a big deal so showing a Persona game for the PS5 would be a good idea to generate hype
I predict that the PS5 will:
Be over $1000 Australian dollars at launch (because the economy is shit over here)
Lack any good launch games (no Ratchet or Spidey or anything like that)
Have a fatal hardware issue at launch (akin to the 'blue light of death' or whatever it was)
Require constant internet connection to be able to do literally anything on it (because fuck accessibility, amirite?)
Have precious little storage space on the base version of the system (PS5 Pro incoming! I'm calling it now!)
Have a bigger focus on social media features than games with its marketing (modern consoles in a nutshell)
Require us to buy at least one crucial cable (such as the HDMI cable) separately
Not have any good games available for it until late into its 'life cycle' (because thaaaaaat's progress!)
You call it being pessimistic - I call it being realistic.
it'll have an hdmi cable, but not one that supports 4k
Gotta love these kind of vids
All I’m hoping for is that FFXVI gets revealed soon 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼.
The Metropolis R&C music brought me WAY back
I've said it all year I personally think given how the world is right now both companies should be selling them at a reasonable/cheap price cos people have lost jobs/not earning as much money
I’d like to think it will be $500 or less for price but I kinda feel like they might do more because if they were doing $500 or less they would have released it around the same time Microsoft thing. I kinda feel like they’re hesitating is because the price is bad
If is will be less than $500 then they're going to lose money rapidly
You do know that Microsoft price release was meant for this week.
It could be more because Playstation is better that is why 😂
@@mustaphaelsaytari5904 when you say the playstation is better I think of the hardware and not its software. No it's not please be more specific next time

Some will be teaser at best but don't see a Final fantasy VII remake part two in the roster.
If they announce Demon’s Souls as a launch title I will lose my existence in the ether.
Umbasa
Im hyped for the remake but unless there are more good games coming with it ill just have to wait for a price drop and it doesnt matter if it takes years.
Well do I have something to tell you
I'm going with $500 and $300. The huge price difference will encourage people to go digital which in the long run will make Sony a lot more money.
Uhhhh they cannot afford it
If they start selling memory cards again I'm in
I don’t think the disk drive alone is work a $200 price difference
@@ill_luck Its got nothing to do with the price of the drive. Its about encouraging people to go all digital which will make Sony more money in the long run. Physical game sales don't make them anywhere near as much money as a digital game.
@@SirKupoNut unlike microsoft Sony cant afford that
I think the digital model and disk model are going to be the same price, but the digital model will have 2X more storage
No way the ps5 will be $600. Sony doesn't want to make the same mistake they did with the ps3
Ratchet and Clank sold me on the P5 too
I keep hearing that the Series X from Microsoft is meant to be a more powerful machine.
@@Moshugaani I see what you mean, I guess we'll find out in 2 days time.
I'd love to see them both launch at the same price and the exact same day, that would be mayhem.
I think the price for standard Ps5 Will be 469$ and the digital Will go for 399$.
Either way, i hope they show Elden Ring and Silent Hill.
Valkeyria nice
I predict they are going to show the next Smash DLC
Not gonna lie, Ratchet & Clank in Smash would be awesome. It obviously won’t ever happen since they are Sony characters but they would have great moveset potential.
If we don’t get smash dlc at this playstation showcase I’m gonna be pissed
@@justinc.5591 I mean Joker is a Sony character sure some persona spinoffs are on Nintendo counsels but ultimately he’s still Sony

I predict that they will show the PS5! It’s a pretty out there prediction but I hope it’ll come true.
Bit of a stretch there, buddy. Need to keep our expectations in check
Leon Lucky true. They might only focus on games and price.
Kena got delayed to early next year
@@cosmicpiplup5296 Ah, thanks for the heads up! Normally I'd be saddened but I had planned on waiting to pick up my PS5 until Q1 2021 anyway, so fine by me. . . Still hope we get to see something new on the game at the very least.
@@cosmicpiplup5296 OH really?
I was so excited to pick it up for PS4. 😔
Well, at least it'll save me some money. 😊
I hope they start preorders too.
LOL 600$ really? you guys have been watching too much Nintendo stuff it's going to be 499$ to 450$ and $399 on digital.
Imo the most exciting thing about this event is how Xbox responds to it.
Derrick you're insane if you actually think the PS5 will be 600
I think people (including myself) are in the minority when it comes to preferring disc drives. Sony and Microsoft wouldn’t have brought discless consoles at launch if there weren’t a huge portion of their revenues coming from it
NightFoxZero I think people like disks most.
I think ps5/all digital price gap is going to be 50 bucks, exactly for the "but it's only 50 bucks more" statement, so that the 500 price tag would be more justified. And while 50 bucks aren't as big of a deal for the buyer, every sale is 10% more to sony
I love the Ratchet & Clank background music. By the way, the PS5 showcase reveal is on the 16th of September.
The showcase will fade to black at the end when you suddenly hear the gow main theme with a phrase coming into view ragnorok is nigh

Who knew that the only game to show a lot of gameplay would be considered the best showcase of the PS5? I'm shocked
Mario 64 reveal for Ps5!!
Leaferock personally I’m hoping for Galaxy
That will never happen
From the Playstation blog announcement:
"Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!). Our next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners."
No hardware news, no price or release date news. Just games.
my prediction for the price is £350 for the Digital and £450 for the version with the disk
100% legit confirmed uk pricing: Disc version £499, discless digital version £449. Pre-orders have just dropped onto my system at work.
I really hope Ratchet and Clank is a launch game i'm pretty sure my gut feeling it's not but my heart wants it to be
It's either this or Spider Man
It will be
antrite08 it’s launch window, aka early 2021
I'm not buying a P5 till it comes out lol
I think a Final Fantasy VII Remake enhanced edition might be announced. It' s just an enhanced port, but I think it would be a good game to have at launch.
550 for the disc version, 500 for the digital only console
400 and 450 + new
Silent Hill
Remember when a new PaRappa game was likely?
If you account for inflation, the PS3 would have been 772$ in 2020. 599$ is not that farfetched
I’m more excited for like Third party stuff like Namco, Capcom, Square Enix, Sega, Koei Tecmo but I would like to see a new Sly Cooper or Infamous 3, perhaps Danganronpa 4 or problaly the biggest one, PlayStation all stars 2 but its like an Xcom game. What do you think?
Don't forget maybe they'll tell us what games are backwards compatible at launch
“10-15 games at most.”
And you guys are complaining they won’t have enough games at launch? WTF? How many do you think they *should* have at launch, 75? Jesus man
I mean ps5 has still more then xbox 😂
And yeah there games that you can play with ps4 version so no problem 🤣
They were talking about the expected maximum games to be shown in the showcases, not the expected launch games
What I want to see on the showcase live
-release date
-price
-full tear down
-PS5 UI
-Features and more
Not bothered about the games I’ve seen them already
McGill's omen I’ve seen the games from the last event but gameplay like GT7 or GTA V I wanna see
McGill's omen Ik but actual gameplay with the game’s UI and demo
I want to see Balan Wonderworld at the thing PEROID
What’s the music used in the background?
I imagine we'll probably get an in depth gameplay look at Miles Morales and probably a few third party games/exclusives announced that weren't at the June event
Doubt we will see Village since it will be at TGS.
I'm thinking $600 with a bunch of built in subscription services. A free year of PS plus, something else along those lines and no way to opt out for a cheaper price.
It should open with the price for the Standard PS5 - £399.99 - Digital PS5 Edition - £279.99
I personally don't think the digital will be that cheap, unlike the Xbox series S (I think it's called that) it has the exact same specs as the disk version, I personally think £350 for digital, £450 for disk :)
The standard will probably be the same price as the xbox at 499 and the digital could be 399 to 449.
I am hoping for a price & a release date it definitely feel like the time to reveal it.
I wonder how they’ll handle free PS Plus games. Will there be more than two every month? Will every free PS4 game be guaranteed to be compatible with PS5?
The Series X is launching with a new dashboard that will also be available for the xbox one consoles.
Spider-Man will be 60fps, that’s enough of a reason to want it for PS5
$449. $349.
