The guy who squatted 300 x 2 is Stefan Botev - two times World Champion in the + 110 kg category - behind him sitting on the bench you can see Antonio Krastev - another legendary lifter
No more government support... So no more World and olimpic champions... As simple as that... That is the way it is... This footages gathers the Best lifters in those days... Leaded by the late Iván Abadziev... Enjoy....
Zlatev probably weighed more than 82.5 kg here, but if he weighed exactly that, then this clean and jerk would be within 0.72 of the Sinclair Naim made with his clean and jerk in Seoul.
@@JUNGLEsausageangel guenchev llift 202,5 at 67,5 ... This is unthinkable for the history of the sport! No men ever will lift that amount of weight 3x body weight at category over 60kg ... Angel was 67,5 .. the best lift ever by far no matter that they catch him with doping .. everyone use but no one is even close to him!!! Even Naim cuz he is too light!
Anyone wishing to know the lifts on the full length video can see them at the Takano Athletics website on the blog page. Check the December 2009 file, and go to the December 8 blog. Enjoy! Bob
@weightliftingisgreat lol it was top secret! to that moment! It was covered by the Bulgarian National Security (something like KGB or CIA, but bulgarian service), sounds in Bulgarian DS. So DS end in '89 but the cases were still top secret, until today, with partial declassification few times in last years.
And bodybuilders / powerlifters seem to need Tom , dick and harry to spot them for a squat like that with a bunch of back slapping and bad music going full noise . Olympic lifters are kings of the iron world !

Bulgaria once ruled. Sad to see how far they have fallen. That '88 team was probably the greatest ever.

@Даниел Димов Точно!
Bulgatia still has great young teams, but they rarely develop into serious athlets later, keep in mind, very few people practice this sport now a days
In the end 300 kg squat twice, no belt, nothing. Respect.
More than 300kg more like 340 or 360kg. Beast mode right there.
very impressive indeed..the good old days...
@tom88cba It's Angel Guenchev. 1988 gold medal winner
NOW I FINALLY KNOW WHERE CLARENCE GETS THAT HYDRAULIC PRESS BREATHING SOUND FROM 0:26
300 kg x 2 - the squat - insane
Bulgarian team doubtless was Titans of Olympic Weithlifting back then.
Zlatev c&j 230kg at 82-85 kg personal weight, unthinkable today..

@weightliftingisgreat The training was done in a secret location so as to avoid WADA. It was videoed by a private party and I was able to acquire it.

By using the color coding on the rims of the bumpers and recognizing the diameters of the metal change.
This footage is unvaluable..the bulgarian squad in those days were the best of the best..sadly nothing lasts for ever..
wrong word.
@@mr.billthrower7392which one Mr Professor????😂😂
Bro there is no way you just responded four years later 😭, but if you must know it’s “unvaluable”.
