Mark Hamil and Keith David absolutely stole the show in this episode. Hearing two of the GOATs absolutely tear it up to see who could out-villian the other was just an absolute delight. It's always cool to be able to root for Skeletor too. This whole thing is pure satisfaction.
Skeletor and Hordak have always had a student-teacher dynamic that ultimately became a rivalry. Hordak may have been a greater threat, but he limited himself to only technology in order to combat magic. Skeletor won because he was able to use both magic and technology.

He's adaptable. No matter the incarnation, he adapts to given situations. Stranded in space on a planet full of crazy mutants? Cozy up to the leader and end up the leader in all but word. Cyberized by the Horde and brought into it? Work his way up and integrate magic and tech, usurp power. There is a reason that on a planet beset by ambitious dukes, snakemen, aliens, monsters and all...the one that lasts longest is Skeletor.

Skeletor was absolutely right; had Hordak given his acolyte the dues he was owed by his service to the Horde, his conquest of Eternia would have been all but assured, and both would have reigned supreme over Eternia then, and the Universe after It truly is one of the biggest achilles' heels for big bads, to dismiss and deride their underlings whether it's justified or not. Treating their lessers with such disrespect, inconsideration, ingratitude, it always festers such rage, hatred, resentment, and malcontent that the underlings will seize the opportunity to shove the dagger in once the master's back is turned, especially at pivotal moments/critical stages, the turning points where victory would have been assured only for it to be swept right out from underneath the villain's feet.
That's always been Hordak's biggest weakness-- his arrogance, which usually is his downfall. he tends to underestimate Adam as He-Man as well as Adora later on when she is free and becomes She-Ra, as well as Skeletor.

2:35 i just love that skeletor briefly sees his father, king miro, in the face of hordak before he dies. personally, i interpret this as keldor feels betrayed by his own father for sending him away from eternos as skeletor too feels betrayed by his mentor hordak for only ever using him as a pawn/tool in building his empire in a sense, keldor feels he was banished TWICE, first by his blood father and by his master.
There was a bit in episode 3 during Skeletor's flashback reveal when Hordak picked him up from the ground and "empowered" him in the exact same way he rescued Evil-Lyn in Revelations during her own flashback. It really showcased the cycle of emotional manipulation and abuse and it didn't try to over explain it. It just let the visuals do the work-much like that Miro flash. I appreciate those little bits of subtlety in a show about a dude named "He-Man".

Traditional Skeletor, he wouldn't have a chance. Did you see how Hordak dominated most of the fight with ease?! Skeletor only won in the end, when he managed to use Magic and Technology in his favor, in a 50% to 50% combination. Normal skeleton is no match for Hordak as has been shown.
March 5, 2024 Clearly you didn't watch the final scene cause a mysterious warrior loyal to the Horde found Hordak and placed the Dark Warlord within a healing chamber the warrior vowed to return to Eternia to exact vengeance on Skeletor and Prince Adam aka He Man
At first there wasn't even a Hordak. They ruined that story, by Mark Taylor, which is what happens when you form a committee. If you form a committee the stories are spoiled. Then they took out a rancher who had rifles sticking out of his belly. Well, I like MOTU dolls; but any competent writer could have come up with a more decent story.

I may not know the huge lore of he man but I always felt that Skeltor fighting and defeating Hordac was an unavoidable outcome
