The show really captured her power and empathy. She wasn't a damsel in distress. Instead she was an asset in every way. They even explored her complexity as a character and made sense of it. This show did a phenomenal job in her character development

I loved how this version finally showed off her sisterhood with Storm, they where my favorite relationship in the show

Out of the park. It was truly outstanding that there was the variety of her 'just Jean' jumpsuit, the iconic Marvel Girl persona, and adding a Phoenix manifestation to boot elevates her portrayal to being an embarrassment of riches. Her fans have been served.
This revival version of Jean is better than the original '92 animated series version becuz she didn't faint every time she used her powers like she did in the original version
It's a good thing that the writers of this revival version had improved Jean's character development in this show
Times change.
And it seems like those little criticisms seems to have paid off

Actually, she did that in a battle with Oracle. She clobbered Oracle with a mind blast the first time, then clobbered Oracle with a physical punch the next. She was marvelous!
It’s so great to actually see Jean be this powerful, instead of the usually “Scott!…” and then fainting! Jean Grey has always been my favorite Xmen and this show really did do her justice with her powers

I disagree. Including Madelyn was actually a bad idea period in my opinion. The reason Madelyn exists (in the comics) is because Jean was found by Xavier before Sinister, and Sinister needed to create some type of version of Jean that Scott would have a child with. But, Jean and Scott eventually found each other anyway, and the Madelyn clone just didn't work. Madelyn only came to life because of the Phoenix dying on the moon, and Sinister sent her out because there was no Jean for Scott to breed with. Thus, in the show, there is no good reason for Madelyn to exist. Jean was alive, and she and Scott could definitely have children. To switch them makes no sense. It makes even less sense when you watch the OG series, in which Jean reads Cable's mind and finds out that she and Scott are his parents. She sees nothing about a clone. It's also badly done, as they kill off Madelyn almost immediately and then implant all her memories into Jean. Thus we didn't need a clone at all.

It doesn't need to capture the comic scene by scene. This was brilliant and the twists were amazing.

@@afro_princess1671 You're right. Jean wasn't dead. She was in a cocoon at the bottom of Jamaica Bay. But, the Phoenix which was pretending to be Jean did die in front of Scott on the moon. So for all intensive purposes, Jean was dead. Madelyne only came to life because of the Phoenix dying on the moon and Jean rejecting merging with it. Because Jean was dead, Madelyne was thus sent out by Sinister to fall in love with Scott. He didn't expect Jean to come back.
Thus, it doesn't make sense for Madelyne to be in X-men 97. Jean was fully able of having Scott's child. She wasn't dead or MIA. Thus there was no reason to switch her.
@@dallasgrey4247 yes that's true. But one doesn't always have to follow the comics. And btw we don't know what happened in the animation. It started with Jean gone, Madelyne thinking she is Jean etc.. its a nice twist.
I mean the MCU doesn't follow the comics so I don't understand. Also the animation follows the 90s one so u have to start from there

It was the most tragic of backstories. Two beautiful souls that could have bonded like sisters.
Telepathy is very powerful at the same time very scary. Imagine you can see the future even the past, you can read minds also move things.
i think here, Jean used an extension of the usual telepathy which is Psychometry.. normal telepaths cant do that...well as an omega level.. Jean can... as for the future she can get a glimpse but not totally predict it like Destiny's main power

Telepathy imo is the most powerful and the most dangerous ability to possess. Even a reality or time manipulator needs to think in order to use their powers and a telepath controls their thoughts. They would be subjects to a telepath

@DarKiRage.13 Not really. Usually, each telepath has a signature color. Professor X is blue. Emma is white/ice blue. Psylocke is purple/magenta. Jean is pink. I understand this show originally made Jean's powers blue, but they were wrong. Jean's powers are pink in the comics mainly, and the majority of Jean fans prefer pink. Imagine Cyclops with green or purple beams. It's not correct. Jean deserves the same.

@@moony._.j The show is a little far fetched in terms of the real world. But there are in fact "mutants". We just don't refer to ourselves like that. We refer to ourselves as the "kind". No one I've met has blasts coming out of their eyes. But there are telepaths, telekinetics, weather kinds (not on Storm level), fire kinds (like Sunspot but he doesn't turn color).
I used to hate Jean but this show made me respect her, but poor Sinny!!
