To save space in your storage area, try a captured nut sunk into the wall. Many different options for wood. This would eliminate the nut and bolt protruding into your storage. Great video!

    Eugene, Oregon.
    I am a semi-retired welder-fabricator.
In the shop, I use cardboard templates to verify fit, clearance, access, and interference prior to cutting/welding.
2003, we converted a 1996 Ford CF8000 commercial truck to our concept of an ExpeditionVehicle.
Starting with a 12x7wx7h empty box, we fabricated cardboard templates of furniture and built-ins.
This gives an idea of traffic, and helped with placing our windows.
Nearly two decades full-time live-aboard, summers up rough logger tracks to remote mountain lakes, winters on isolated Baja beaches.
PS -- if I was me, I would round the corners of MyNewTable© to reduce contusions on my precious delicate sensibilities.

Noway! In a former life, Chris was a welder. We would be fast friends I think - and stupid jealous of your life experiences. Sure sounds like an adventure. Great note, we should round those edges before we catch a hip on the corner. It is bound to happen *cringe*

Any thoughts on if it would be better to round the corners of your table, now since you've been using it. Thanks for video and details as I'm going to install a Lagun within the next few days in my 20+ yr old FWC Eagle. My install will be different than yours but everybody probably has their own custom install. Your video helped me think about how/where to place the mounting plate and consider how to access the backside for bolt installation.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea but I will say, we haven't had an issue with the corners yet. It remains mostly out of the way as a counter top in transit and unless we're actively using it as a table. So that being said, the corners haven't been much of a hazard!

Just found your channel, watched your videos and subscribed. I have a 2017 F-150 and have been looking for a FWC Hawk but haven't found any nearby. I wondered about the Fleet but never considered it seriously as it was for a smaller truck. After seeing your Fleet on your full size Chevy I am sold! I really like the narrower side overhang and your use of the base as storage drawers. I believe that the length is the same so it probably isn't much smaller than the Hawk. One question, what is the interior width wall to wall? I would like to use your front bench area as a third sleeping area for one 6-foot adult. Please keep using and enjoying it and keep up with the videos!

Wow, this comment really means a lot! Having the Fleet as an option definitely opens up your search possibilities... we hope you find the right one for you! The interior width is right around 72 inches or 6 ft. so it would very likely work just fine.

@@mtnup3040 I just bought a Fleet for my F-150! Picking it up in the beginning of March as I need to prep my truck before. What are the dimensions of the jackoff . . . , I mean jack offsets that you fabricated from plywood? That and any other thoughts that you might have would certainly be appreciated. I am also going to build a base storage system similar to yours, thank you. Looking forward to your next video!

@@stevewood4255 dude, no way!! That is stupid awesome. Hoping you enjoy everything about it and the projects ahead! Can’t wait to hear your feedbacks. Jack….off…. sets are as follows: 1inch thick, 10 inches wide, 13.5 inches top to bottom.

@@mtnup3040 Thanks for the dimensions. I might try a 2x12 cut to 13.5 inches (I have one in the garage). I am traveling about 2400 miles to pick the unit up in the beginning of March. It's a 2020 Fleet shell with a furnace and stove and a couple of other options. Right now I am upgrading my tires, installing air bags (hope it's not too cold in driveway during install) and having FWC in PA install tie downs and wiring. I am going to use two wooden skids in the bed for the temporary base and build a proper base like yours when I get it back home and can make the proper measurements. Thanks for your inspiration!

Just subscribed; I'm looking to pick up the Raven Shell for my Ram with the Roll Over Couch for the pups. What size lift are you running on the rig? Oh yea - Cards - Rummy 500?

Thanks for the sub! That setup sounds great, you'll love it for sure... our lift is 7-8 inches, somewhere around there. And you're right on - Rummy!

What is the size of the wood top? Is it mounted at the center point? Thanks!

    • @mtnup3040
      @mtnup3040  2 года назад +1

It’s approximately 24x22 and mounted 1 inch off center… originally mounted center but we had a calculation mishap and it was hitting the furnace box haha.

I’d sand each side of the rails a little with 220 grit and then light synthetic oil. Update?
