We have the same camper on the back of a 2002 Tundra ("Smokey") and you did a fabulous renovation- congratulations! My wife and I have been following you since July and love your videos -they have been just amazing stories. Now I'm not sure I can show her this one, because I know how envious she is going to be. Thank you both for sharing your adventure.
🤣😉 thank you for your message. We hope we can soon travel again new places in the world and continue making videos. Do you have a diesel heater in your FWC ?
@@GrizzlyNbearOverland No- we have propane that also runs the water heater and the 2-burner cooktop. Which is also why I've never shared your video removing the water heater and hot water tank- although she might be hard pressed to give those up. Unlike you we only go out for a month at a time and Canada and Mexico will be our "outer limits" . Japan is the least likely place for someone to end up overlanding, but you both have done a great job showing and telling how beautiful and rural it is. Stay safe and let's hope 2021 will return to normal!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 You both rock !! I love it when I see people just getting into it and doing it themselves 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 I can see the little lady knows exactly how and what she wants 👍 Shit hot and well done both of you... Thanks for sharing and showing loved it !! Take care and stay safe both of you and keep on going. From 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
There are moka pots suitable for induction cookers from Bialetti and other brands. Look it up if you miss it. Also I thought it might be a good idea to connect those extensible legs for the foldout table with a piece of wood. You’d be able to pull them out in one motion and probably make it sturdier. Hope my words will be useful. Good luck in your trips!
Very nice rebuilt with all the real wood cabinetry and much more functional than the original four wheel campers setup. You said the fridge is not that efficient. I had a four wheel campers hard side with the same fridge construction (but with an engel fridge) and it was running all the time. In my eyes there is an faulty design. The warm air can't leave and builds up under the top and there is not enough air flowing in from underneath. If your wooden top feels warm, maybe it helps to open it up near the back wall. Best wishes from Germany
Thoroughly enjoying following your travels and now this renovation video 👍🏻👍🏻. Leigh you can buy a Bialetti steel plate for using your moka pot on the induction stove. But better than that, I’ve made the move some time ago to the Aeropress - excellent coffee and easy to clean! Thanks for the great content.
Absolute amazing renovation and very cleverly thought thru, by Steph I presime ! Trust your future travels will be as beautiful and rewarding as your "new" camper. And please Steph, never lose that accent !!!
Nice setup guys! Cheers and keep up the good work!
What a beautiful design good job, you must one very special bond to live and travel with each other it must get a bit claustrophobic at times when I toured with my partner we had separate bikes but shared a tent and sometimes I like my own space so sometimes even turned the bike to bike off but she would either wait for me to catch her or if behind speed up and I would feel her slap the back of my crash helmet time to turn it back on me thinks lol.
Hey nice video your unit turned out well .Hope your both well and you both and your house arrived safely too your new destination and country . Safe travels enjoy your next adventure. I have about 2 weeks work left to finish up then will enjoy the Pow .
How bout some magnets underneath the spice jars? Love the lounge. Now, you have a back rest. 3 pairs of underwear? Well, if you flip it inside out, you can wear it 6 times 🤣

Yay Steph is back (sorry Leigh 😁).... what an amazing transformation, some seriously good thinking involved. Big shout out to Dan and Aya for putting up with these two! 🤣🤣
Renovation looks absolutely beautiful. When you're spending a lot (or, all) your time in a camper, it's worth making the effort to make it feel like a home. One small thing: if you have keys near a door, so they're easy for you to locate quickly, it means they're also easy for OTHER people to locate quickly too. Try to make sure they're somewhere that makes it hard for anybody else to find them.
Thanks a lot. Good advice for the keys 🙏 The keys only hang on those hooks when we're in the camper. If we leave the camper is locked and keys go with us 😉
Well done Stephy and Leigh, I can see why Steph did all the drawings, what with Leigh being a plumber Hahaha, I'm intrigued why 15mm ply. Big fan from the land of the Kangaroo.
@@leighdearle5965 Hahahahaha Leigh, love your honesty, 15 or 12mm for structural or shelves, internals verticals I would have used 6mm or 4mm, just my thoughts, out of all of us would be's if we could be, you And the lovely Stephy, you 2 have done the hard yards plus what 3-4 years in grizzly, me I'm just the armchair worrier. very nice set up! i just started watching your videos, since it was suggested to me by RUclips and I live in Taiwan. your camper reminds me of XiaoFei's camper van. if you haven't been in contact with him, you guys should meet up! well, welcome to Taiwan!! my wife and I will check out more of you videos. We already enjoyed watching your new Taiwan series. If you're ever up north near Sanzhi and need anything please let us know, we would be happy to help. good luck here in Taiwan!
the reno looks fantastic, and you truly need to live in a space for a while to know whats required to make it a functional space. I cant get over how neat all your cupboards are, I could work for days cleaning up my rig and it still wouldn't come close to compare
What a great job you've done, very impressed. I can tell a lot of thought went into the design. I would have never thought about an induction hob and an inverter, but why not. Now you don't have to spend time searching for gas refills. I would recommend you buy a spare induction hob as I've heard they aren't that durable when used everyday. I've just researched induction hobs as I've just moved to a house with an oil fired Aga. I wasn't sure I could cook on an Aga so bought a twin induction hob unit, but I've adapted to life with an Aga quite well, just add 50 % to any cooking time. Great video and what a truly great country Japan is with such friendly people.
Your lady is so flipping adorable. I love her. Thanks for the video. I'm going to get a Hawk Shell and build it out. I was on the fence about getting the full camper, but it's clear after watching this that I want to build it out to my liking/needs. Thank you and happy trails.
Great to see how you used all your experiences with the camper to improve it. I was allways a bit dissatisfied by all the tiny hatches and drawers in the original foor wheel camper kitchen. Have you thought about converting the seating area so you could sit face to face?
Actually we did consider it and still might do one day. The only thing would be losing the large storage space where our feet would have to go. We don't mind sitting side saddle. It's only while we eat so not very long in this position. When Steph is working at the table she has her legs up on the bench or straight in front of her and facing forward.
@@leighdearle5965 thanks for the respond! I see your point. I imagine living full time in the camper and maintaining the offroad abilities is quite a struggle.
