Merry Christmas to all there and all the very best for the new year, no drought that Cruiser has done a great job, credit to Toyota, all the best, cheers
Something about watching a couple of mature men joking andworking on a car makes me smile way too much. Love the content rocket 🤙🏻🤙🏻 hope you had a merry Christmas and a happy new year
G'day rocket ! I lived in Menzies Creek for a few years in the 70'S , Your mate greg talking about the Toyota tercel Wagon ,they were ugly but Fun and capable ! I wish I had one these days Merry Christmas ! Hopefully we'll see you & 79 cruising with the boys Soon !
Hi Rod, great to see the 79 rebuild happening and will be good to see it on the tracks again. Got a good place for you guys to explore up in Far North Queensland. Have a Merry Christmas and happy New Year and hope to see you up this way one day. Been thinking about putting an auto in my 3F powered 80 Series?
Happy holidays to you and your crew. I live here in the US. I enjoy the trips you all take. Looks like a great time is always had by all even in the mud and I breakages it looks like you are enjoying the trip. Keep up the great videos you and the group at 4wd24/7
Those Koni Raids are awesome. I had them in my Defender and they got flogged all over the outback from The Simpson, Finke, The Cape and The High Country. I had complete confidence in smashing them for hours over corrugations. Over the same terrain a mate's shocks you couldn't even touch while the Konis were barely warm. No need for this twin core remote reservoir foam cell nonsense. Just bolt big Koni 90 series and go, well after you've paid them off that is.......
i agree, i have them on my y61 and they work awesome for more then 10 years...and with 0 maintenance that is...when I rebuilt my chassis few years back (because of rust) those shockers were without any issues at all and the shocks guy said to me it is a waste of money to open them up...
Jeez Rod, you've got kids, did you ever push a pram, I hope not for their sake, scared for life! As with the rest of the vid, a damn good laugh and slightly informative. The bit with the dif and splinters had me thinking "you wally, what were you thinking?" metal ones are the worse. Great vid. You and everyone there enjoy the holidays. 😁👍
I've given it a few days of thought . I have a buddy whom is homeless. I was thinking if I win (get given) the canopy and roof top tent. It can become his home. I have an old 2005 Rodeo Ute. I can give that to him and he can live out of it. ( he doesn't have his license presently either)
those marks on the center section come from the pinion getting to close, it does this when you put high torque on there and the pinion crush sleeve crushes just a little more, hopefully your rebuilder knows this and uses a solid sleeve instead of a crush. if it already has a solid sleeve(some come with it) the pinion just needs setup a little on the tighter end of the spec.
That's what I did to my old hj 47 run the exhaust just behind the cab . In nsw , well 20 year ago it was deemed roadworthy as long as the exhaust was a minimum distance behind the rearmost door of a motor vehicle No don't use brut force just get a bigger hammer
@@WholesaleAutomatics thanks for getting back to me. I am booked in at Dynomotive to get there 470 turbo kit, but am I little worried about it kicking in too late as I tow a large off-road van. Are you going a standard turbo or are you doing the same turbo as me through Paul?
No way to check without sending it out for testing so we are going with a new unit. We will also be doing a compression test, replacing injectors, new intercooler and cleaning the inlet manifold. That’s the short list lol
So glad your giving the old girl a bit of love. Can’t wait to see her back on the tracks.
Great to see someone using real shocks and not those remote resi things that cause all sorts of problems.
Marty from Perth
Too true.. More moving parts.. more problems.
I've had some average aftermarket shocks on my GU for ten years.. TEN and they're still going strong..
Loving seeing the old girl get some love rocket, keep up the great work hope to one day meet you in person when I put an auto in my 79
Awesome to see the side of you rocket hope we get more trips with the boys in 4wd 247
Stay safe
For sure!!
Glad to see the Rocket Ship is getting a good old fixer!
Merry Christmas to all there and all the very best for the new year, no drought that Cruiser has done a great job, credit to Toyota, all the best, cheers

Good video mate 😊 have a great Xmas to you and your family and team,🤟 hope to catch up on a track one day 🍻🍺🍺
I've given it a few days of thought . I have a buddy whom is homeless. I was thinking if I win (get given) the canopy and roof top tent. It can become his home. I have an old 2005 Rodeo Ute. I can give that to him and he can live out of it. ( he doesn't have his license presently either)
good on ya Rod, have a Merry Xmas. maybe for your next build you get a SRT jeep Cherokee and chop it?
Merry Xmas rocket and the team, loving seeing this side of you coming from only seeing you on the 4WD 24/7 videos
have a great break Rod
Merry Christmas to all and a happy new
Same to you!
Really good job
Hey mate, I would replace the rear axle u bolts mate.
those marks on the center section come from the pinion getting to close, it does this when you put high torque on there and the pinion crush sleeve crushes just a little more, hopefully your rebuilder knows this and uses a solid sleeve instead of a crush. if it already has a solid sleeve(some come with it) the pinion just needs setup a little on the tighter end of the spec.
Incorrect. Those marks on the centre were caused from previous metal being caught between the pinion and hemisphere.
Merry Christmas guys
looks like you blew a gasket crossing the road mate , merry xmass
I had a tercel for my first car it was a weapon went everywhere my friends cruisers hiluxes and patrols went. Only ever got bogged once
Better off getting a brand new carrier with diff lock off Toyota. $1800 and 2 days to get in, just got one last week
Thanks fellas
14:55 your front left side step is surprised from all those close calls i bet a few passgers had the exact same look on there faces
Merry Christmas rocket
Rod, might be time to get that right shoulder looked at 🙂
Shoulders fine Dereck. My brain just doesn't know how to steer it properly lol but thanks for showing concern.
That's what I did to my old hj 47 run the exhaust just behind the cab . In nsw , well 20 year ago it was deemed roadworthy as long as the exhaust was a minimum distance behind the rearmost door of a motor vehicle
No don't use brut force just get a bigger hammer
Do you have a glass cabinet to show off all your bent bits?
Good god Rocket look at the size of those shock absorbers looks like they came out of a truck!
Grinder would’ve been a better option to get the sleeve off, rather than heating it up, it will now be weaker
Merry christmas rocket!
Same to you!
Hi Rocket. What turbo was on the cruiser? How late did it kick in?
I only have a medium turbo upgrade as I didn't to go too far.
@@WholesaleAutomatics thanks for getting back to me. I am booked in at Dynomotive to get there 470 turbo kit, but am I little worried about it kicking in too late as I tow a large off-road van. Are you going a standard turbo or are you doing the same turbo as me through Paul?
LAKES PIPES they were called ie Little duce coupe
Merry christmas rocket
rothy's looking for a canopy for his mah mah mahhhhinhinhindra

Loving the 79 makeover series but Please Please Please fix your audio!!
Will do Nate
@2:02 wow 👌
Have you got an email I can send you information about the area up here? It's on the Atherton Tablelands, inland from Cairns.
Re torque the u bolts mate
comment mainly for the algorithm .. happy christmas all
Did you guys find out what's causing the excessive oil leak from your turbo?
No way to check without sending it out for testing so we are going with a new unit. We will also be doing a compression test, replacing injectors, new intercooler and cleaning the inlet manifold. That’s the short list lol
Those shocks should reach the mounts at full droop.
Having them short like that could potentially tear them in 2.
Do a milo exhaust…😀
Rookies
Mary xams from Tas
First and🤞on the canopy
Go rocket rod
Have a great Xmas Jim
