FOMO is real in this market! I’ve found that I focus on what I like to play and have interest in so as to avoid buying items that collect dust. These past few videos are great and your collection is awesome. A great video topic would be to showcase your top items because of personal meaning.
Definitely! FOMO is real! And yes I agree. Definitely collecting what you want to play and love is what it’s all about. And that’s such a great topic! I will have to do that soon!
Great advice. Connections is so important, letting people know that your a collector is vital. I've been really lucky with things like gaming standees, POS etc. I got talking to the manager of my local toy company who happens to have a huge video game section in the store, we became friends and now I get a call about once a month asking me if I want to come down and take a look at all the standees and pos they are throwing away and he gives it to me for free!
That’s awesome!! Yes making connections is key. Tons of those displays get thrown out. So it’s perfect to let someone know you want them. Glad to see other people getting stuff for free and amazing deals! Way better than the stuff getting trashed. Thanks for watching. :)
Collectors of anything that just get put on a shelf and never used have a form of mental illness related strongly to OCD. Paying silly prices for what was junk 15 years ago is also stupid when you can just download it for free for the nostalga hit.
New subscriber from the UK - I'm so happy I found your channel! I completely agree with being patient - I'm a very minimalist collector, mainly interested in just a few game series/systems, and recently I bought a game that wasn't in the condition I usually prefer, but the impatience and the FOMO was so intense that I got it anyway! Now the buyer's remorse is very real 🤣. Luckily it wasn't a huge amount of money!
Thanks for watching!! And yes I agree. It’s definitely real. Haha. But we learn from that. We all have those moments of rushing to collect certain items.
i don't want to get out of my confuse zone i don't like the fact everyone put forcing most of us that don't want to get out of our buddy to get out of our shell i think there's nothing wrong if some of us don't want to get out of our confuse zone don't want to try new things i'm very shy i think it's ok to be shy it's not a bad thing i think it's a good natural thing to be shy that's just me i hope you understand and respect my decision free will
I try to play as much as I can but sometimes I collect more than I play. That’s why I enjoy when people like friends or family come over and enjoy games I may not have experienced yet.
Great video, I love your TMNT Ghost Monsters T-Shirt, I think it’s awesome. I wish I could make some friends in the gaming community especially in my local gaming community. I still have most of my retro console stuff including the DK bongos for the game cubes, power glove, super nes super scope, and even the virtual boy. I also have a couple of Tiger electric hand held games and most of my Nintendo power magazines including the very last issue
@@GamerAhmer I hope to find many more in my collection. I too have a t-shirt collection mostly stuff from my children including TMNT, Nintendo, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and Double Dare. I’m wearing my Legend of Zelda sweater hoodie right now. I loved all those Nickelodeon game shows as a kid. When I was a kid I even wanted to be a game show when I grew up.
Having a plan is a great tip because it can be an overwhelming hobby to get into. We don't care about the value and just enjoy the adventure and the stories that come with collecting. We enjoy collectors like you who get these kiosks and preserve them, especially when many are headed to the garbage otherwise! Community deals are great for trades; often deals can be made when one collector is helping another versus dealing with resellers and the dollars in their eyes. We barely have time to enjoy our collections so we could never get into reselling ourselves, but then we usually just give stuff to people, preferring to try and do something good instead of further lining our walls. Though we've also been chastised and called stupid for that too... 🙄 Area shops and finds can be tough. It's easy to say be diligent but some area (like farmland Midwest) never had a strong gaming presence so it can be nigh impossible to find things. We've had a few fellow content creators visit us who've seen this firsthand after not believing us ha ha. It takes a great bit of patience but especially luck. It can be a grind for sure.
I do have a question for you btw. I know the collecting community dogs on DK Oldies, but what are your thoughts about them? I can see why people dog on them though. 239.99 for a ps2, when I found one at my local pawn shop with a handful of games for $50, and all worked. Just needed a little TLC.
Timing is everything with collecting as well as patience. I have a pretty good sized collection. I've been collecting for 34 years now. I find that if you want to bulk up or head towards a complete collection you need to buy games while they are at the cheapest point. Like most wii games at the moment.also for me personally i tend to buy broken consoles and repair and restore them for my collection. I've gotten some hard to get items this way and saved ALOT of money this way. And the hunt is part of the fun. Nothing i love more than finding things in the wild vs online.
@@dylanpocobello5306 my father taught me how to fix electronics growing up. Then i watched and still watch any and all console repair videos i can find on youtube. It's not really that hard to fix them just gotta dive in. Remember if it's already broken you can't really make it any worse.
Don't be afraid to summon good ol' St. Dick to steal a highly prized item!!! Lol. On a serious note, you are the most dedicated video game collector I know of!!! You could find an ice cube in a desert!!! Who dares wins! Always keep at it, one may lose out a lot at first, but your best chances are keeping on top of listings, staying in touch with dealers and other collectors. Eventually you will find what you are looking for or an opportunity to do so. Merry Christmas Gamer Ahmer! Here's to a new year seeing your amazing collection!!! Cheers!
I’m just happy that I have most of the games I want on the snes. The only game that’s itching my game buying is True Lies on the snes. I’ll collect the ps4 and xbox1.
Indeed. I’d never pay $500 for Dracula X or Earthbound. I got some higher end games but those were bought long ago. I don’t see prices dropping as anything vintage in the electronics department never does. I’m jus my happy to have what I have at this point.
@@GamerAhmer You’ve given me some inspiration! Having a collection should be tailored for your own needs, however big or small it may be! Keep up the vids you’re bound to grow.
I currently have a Nintendo ds xl and a ps2 but I’m happy I kept the Nintendo especially how a lot of thing cost now and I have Pokémon black and white but wow a lot of Pokémon games cost over 70+ which is quiet crazy
I have not personally but I’ve heard of people finding deals from those sites. Just have to do research and make sure you don’t get scammed and don’t overpay.
Yes. And I’m not rich. Just work a lot and hunt to find deals. Also started before things jumped up in price. It was manageable 7 years ago. And there were games everywhere.
“Here’s how I collected video games on a budget: I started when stuff was cheaper” Wow, so all people need to do is invent a time machine. Edit: And there it is at #4, “become a part time reseller”. Honestly, what was described in this video was sounding an awful lot like having a job. I don’t know about other people but I’m a video game player, not a video game seller. I really wonder what would happen if the people who invest all this time and effort into flipping video games instead put that time into developing their professional career. That’s my advice: if you want to have a big collection of anything, video games included, go out there and make money. Then you’ll be able to buy whatever you want.

Patience is big. Cant tell how many times I paid up for bangers only to find them again later in the wild for steal prices.
Exactly! It’s always a difficult thing too. I find myself struggling with that at times but when I find those deals it’s all worth it!
Yes its possible to collect video games.
Its a matter of knowing what you want to play, what you're considering to keep and replay in near future.

collecting just to have games or do you really play all the games you collect. genuine question
I play mine. But some games I have I have digitally too so I play those instead of touching my snes games.
