If not for the stupid mentality of this country toward marijuana, we might have been able to debate overrated. But nah, underrated for sure. Dude could do some of everything and, albeit usually a simple character, flat-out got over wherever he went. He has always been authentic and performed well in whatever role given, the athleticism and selling both shining through.

@@InsideTheRopes Underrated by a lot. RVD is a unique performer, with a style all his own. He has been influential, of course, and many wrestlers today try to emulate his spots. But none of them can do it the way Rob did: Rob made it look natural, made it look legit. You could suspend your disbelief with an RVD match. The modern larpers that steal his spots always make it look so choreographed, aka FAKE. I think RVD sometimes gets overlooked because of the way others have copied him. But it's not Rob's fault that they can't pull it off like he could.

People like you have fewer insecurities and probably a greater depth of intellect. Rational people prefer to be around guys like you than hot-heads who may at any moment set off a powder keg. Violence and hostility as an immediate reaction to conflict are signs of poor socialization, lack of emotional maturity, and in some cases abuse. The thing you have to really watch out for is that you don't let people steam roll you, and that you can assert your boundaries effectively when needed. Some of the toughest men I know, Vietnam vets, have seen and done things no ordinary person can process, but are the most thoughtful, rational, calm and gentle people I've ever been around. TL;DR: you aren't a freak.

It was never perfect, and there was never a shortage of disparaging comments towards it, but there were certain things you’d likely never get from the WWE at the time that I loved, like Christian having one of the best runs in his entire career as THE main-event alongside AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, and Sting. Not to forget how incredible the knockouts were at the time, when women wrestling was such an afterthought in the fed.

But I get what you mean. RVD was so popular at the start of his WWE run that fans were pro-RVD against Jeff Hardy and we've seen over the decades how no matter what transgressions he's had, Jeff has been beloved to no ends regardless so that's a testament to how over RVD was upon entering the company.

vince was right. the only ecw fanbase left over was a small margin of the crowd. how else did cena get over so big during that time period? it was a new era. newer audiences didn't know or majorly care enough to be invested in older talent such as sabu and sandman. wwe gave them more than enough pushes and promo packages. rewatch the 2006 era and you'll notice the crowds weren't buying it outside of the 2 ecw one night stand pay per views. what happened was instead of trying to help evolve the brand the originals protested hard enough to destroy the product. by the time everyone understood ecw could be used to help promote new breed talent it had been tarnished beyond salvaging.

Wrong. 1988 33 million ppl saw Sat Night Main Event. The GOLDEN ERA was #1.
Kids Today think The Attitude Era was good. Yea.. sure... the was good but not GREAT. The GOLDEN ERA players were the same ones that made it money.
Monday Night Wars were bringing in 8 million per show. 16 million TOPS.
Fantastic!! But still a 50% DROP from GOLDEN ERA money.
The ATTITUDE ERA then went to the RUTHLESS AGRESSION ERA & PG ERA... which went to 4 mil & then now (today) 2 mil per show. Congrats..... They lost 75% of the viewers. We used to see Grandma, Grandpa, uncle, aunt, sister, brother, & family see the whole PPV. Now PG ERA saw only the kids. Maybe a dad. You lost so much but because people like you ARE THE KID you GREW UP as the kid!! So you are so blinded by it that it's your childhood!!! You can't see that MY CHILDHOOD so was much better than yours!!!
AEW is struggling to get 1 million in a show.... in 1986 that would have been 1/33rd of what WWF did. Don't even TRY to compare. ECW, WCW, AWA, & many other territories did better back then. Even TNA owned this number. Stop lying.

About them trying to get him mad, it perfectly matches what Mark Henry said about Vince pranking him on purpose to make him mad because he thought that would make him a convincing heel.
I think Vince had this weird idea about going Stanislavskij method acting with wrestlers. And if one thing can be said about Vince, is that he loved his own ideas, no matter how dumb they were.

RVD was always ahead of his time and WWE capitalized on him in his absolute prime. It's a shame about the legal thing with him and Sabu, and who's to say how that not withstanding would/wouldn't have affected the WWECW revival? We'll never know. Also, had no idea that mother fucker drank beer (that's gotta be beer, right?)

WCW fans and ECW fans both know what it's like to have their beloved brands trashed before their eyes all just to feed McMahon's ego. Considering how bad the Invasion was and how poorly superstars like DDP were treated, I'm somewhat glad that WWE never brought back WCW as a third brand like they did with ECW. Vince McMahon making himself the ECW champion is such a slap in the face to everything that ECW was.

I always felt like the WWE didn't commit to pushing RVD the way they should have. He was a fan favorite, and he had solid in ring skills + personality. I think WWE really wasted opportunities with him, Al Snow, Billy Gun, and Dustin Rhodes either with dumb characters, or no push. That list could go on and on, actually.

Vince destroyed the revamp of ECW. ECW will always be hardcore. The WWE ECW was soo watered down and honestly was boring

    • @DownfallDarkness
      @DownfallDarkness 2 месяца назад +3

ECW also destroyed itself; they got surpassed by even more "hardcore" promotions like XPW, CZW, IWA-MS, etc.
The original ECW arena had even gotten bought out and renamed to The XPW Arena _(what it is, again today.)_
Paul Heyman is a sellout P.o.S. he contributed to the death of his own promotion; tainting its legacy, etc.
The fact that something like "WWECW" even has to exist, will forever taint the legacy of the OG ECW unit. Sorry; the truth.

ECW should not have come back. It should have just been a trilogy of ONE NIGHT STANDS:
    1) 2005 is about teasing RVD
    2) 2006 is about ECW beating WWE title
    3) 2007 is about WWE beating ECW. The trilogy ends ECW “angle.”
